Port forwarding on Airport Extreme Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:43 PM PDT I've tried everything that I can think of and I just cannot get this router to forward a port. I've given my workstation a fixed private IP through a DHCP reservation, and that definitely worked, my target machine is now on the correct internal IP. But however I try (iOS airport app and Mac OS Airport utility app) I cannot get the port to forward. When I go to canyouseeme.org and check the port, it comes up connection refused. I'm trying an unusual port number, 3282, could that be an issue? When I save the rule and commit the change, the router updates, and when I log back in I can see the port forward rule in the list no problem. Everything is updated to current versions software-wise. I'm really at a loss here, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments] |

iPhone X Controlling Itself (erroneous touch input) Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:21 PM PDT To start, the details: iPhone X 64 GB Verizon iOS 11.4 Can get more info if you need it. So my girlfriend's iPhone just started sort of taking over itself? Not sure exactly what's going on, but it seems to just be touch inputs going crazy. You can just be not touching the phone at all, sitting on the table, and then it will close out of the current app, open a different one, click into a search bar or something. Then you can try to click out of the app and it just opens some other app, possibly scrolling to a different page of apps. I don't think it's ever started typing, seems all the erroneous touch is from the top half or so of the screen. Doesn't always do it either, just will randomly start. Any ideas? I also have an iPhone X 64 GB Verizon, same software, and it doesn't do this at all. Think this is a hardware issue from the factory? Bad soldering or something? Any help greatly appreciated! iCloud storage taken by photos, but settings off Posted: 01 Jul 2018 06:51 PM PDT I have a iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro, all have iCloud photo storage disabled, but yet 25gb of my iCloud storage is taken by photos. Maybe I had it on one day, but after 30 days it should all be gone right? Any idea what is happening there? Should I probably enable on the iPad iPhone , and let it re-sync? I can't do it on the Mac as I have 60gb of pics on it I appreciate any input [link] [comments] |
iMessage and FaceTime - "An error occurred during activation. Try again Later." Posted: 01 Jul 2018 06:01 PM PDT Like the title says, I get the message, "An error occurred during activation. Try again Later." whenever I sign into my iCloud account through iMessage and FaceTime. Any ideas? Edit: I am signing in to my iCloud account from a MacBook Pro 2017 13 inch. I do not own an iPhone. Posted: 01 Jul 2018 05:30 PM PDT I have been searching for this game from my childhood called Zoo Tycoon. I probably played it for dozens of hours when I was younger, but now, in adulthood, I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Finally, I found a zip file of it on MacintoshGarden.org, which made me so excited! But then once I downloaded it, an error message popped up that said "Power PC applications no longer supported." After some googling, it seems that Mac OS X no longer supports the playing of old OS games. However, I did find an application called SheepShaver that claimed to be able to support old Mac apps, but I am also not super computer savvy, so after about an hour of reading info about it, I still was not able to figure out how the heck it works. Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so, were you able to fix it? I would really appreciate any and all advice! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 05:03 PM PDT Whenever I try to add my debit or credit card to Apple Pay it says my card is invalid. I checked and my credit union should be supported and I'm certain I'm entering my information right. What are some other things I could try? [link] [comments] |

Apple Music and student verification Posted: 01 Jul 2018 08:40 AM PDT Every time I open Apple Music it pops up with a screen saying how long I have to verify my student status and gives me the option to verify my account now. I've went through and verified my account a few times but it won't stop popping up each time. I've also tried to logging out, turning my phone all the way off, but nothing seems to fix it. Is a time Time capsule + external drive as one volume possible? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 10:12 AM PDT I have a 2TB Time capsule, but my entire PC storage capacity is a little over 5TB. Instead of buying a 6TB external and connecting it to the time capsule and then pointing the backups to be stored there, could I buy a 4TB, Connect it to the time machine, format the drives to appear as one single volume and then back up to that one volume? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:48 PM PDT Has anyone tried this update with a 2012 13" MBP? I had issues with installing 10.13.1 since the installer didn't check if the disk was an HDD or SSD and tried to do the install as if it was an SSD. I ended up having to wipe my disk and do a clean install of 10.13.2 after getting my files out, but I'd rather not have to go through that again. [link] [comments] |
Should I be worried about this email? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 05:02 AM PDT I just want to start off by saying I don't have a payment method on my account. I used my PayPal once, and then immediately took it off after I used it. The rest of the time I've only used Apple gift cards. (When I clicked the "verification form" twice if brought me to a different random page each time that had no to do with apple). It starts with "RE:" (I never emailed them in the first place). Late 2011 13" MacBook Pro not charging or booting, what could be wrong? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 10:25 AM PDT Hey guys, I have an old 13" MBP that's currently completely dead. It wasn't charging (no light on the charger) and eventually died without me being able to figure out what was wrong. Not able to reset SMC as it's dead (I think, unless that happens by unplugging the battery for a while, in which case that also doesn't work). It has a brand new battery (about 2 months old) and I just got a new charger to try, and that didn't work either. Just now I tried to take it all apart and replace the logic board battery (lol) to realize it doesn't have one... I did order a new Magsafe port and hoping that will be the reason it's not working – how likely is that? Or am I stuck with a busted logic board? Edit: The battery indicator lights work, and show an empty battery. [link] [comments] |
iMessage on new Mac sending from old phone number Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:09 PM PDT Hi, I have a new MacBook Air that is about 2 weeks old. When I send an iMessage from it, it shows as from my old number, which was on a different phone and a different account with ATT. Is there a way to fix this? My iCloud is showing the correct number as the device. Another strange thing is when I originally opened the computer it had iMessages sending from my old work phone, which is with another person and is not connected to my iCloud any longer [link] [comments] |
Strange Freezing problem on my iPhone 7+ Posted: 01 Jul 2018 10:02 AM PDT This issue has happened a number of times, through I have failed to be able to replicate it. Basically, during normal use it will completely freeze while I've logged into it. Force shutdown by holding the lock and home buttons does not work at all, long as I may hold the two buttons down for. I can access the camera, but only if the phone is locked. Generally, trying to restore from a backup on my computer fails, so I'm stuck just recording a bunch of videos until it dies, then plugging it back in. It's gotten fairly frustrating so if anyone has some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Quick edit: I am currently experiencing the problem and am not sure of the exact ios version, but will update it once my phone has died and restarted. This has occurred through multiple different versions of ios. Edit 2: The version is 11.1.2 [link] [comments] |
I may have deleted my entire Mac software including the os when using bootcamp Posted: 01 Jul 2018 12:55 PM PDT Already posted this in r/bootcamp but to avail. Please help, I'm desperate. So when booting up into windows for the first time, I opened up a dos prompt to get the boot amp partition to work. I followed this link: https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/windows-cannot-be-installed-to-disk-0-partition-1.html And followed the last bit. Cleaned the partition. Except I deleted all of my data. I booted up in recovery mode. It's currently loading. I'm pretty sure I deleted all of my time machine backups as that is what I was told to do to get the partition to work. Any suggestions on what to do next? Edit: every time I restart the computer I boot up in windows and can't install macos even in recovery mode. I'm starting to panic. Edit2: I actually only deleted my snapshots of time machine. I don't know if that'll allow me to recover. I haven't seen any backups from time machine when in recovery mode. Edit3: I don't know if it actually deleted everything, as I had 300+ gb of data and it deleted in a few seconds when using the method in the link above. [link] [comments] |
Water Damage - 2016 MacBook Pro Posted: 01 Jul 2018 12:32 PM PDT Water got spilled on the keyboard of my late 2016 MacBook Pro with touchbar. I have AppleCare. I called to see if it was covered, and of course it isn't. The earliest appointment at the Apple Store is Wednesday. Does anyone know how much it will cost to get repaired? [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro keyboard won’t work Posted: 01 Jul 2018 11:38 AM PDT 2014 MacBook Pro and when I turn on the MacBook I can't tyler in a password or use the mouse at all. Watch 7000 series battery replacement Posted: 01 Jul 2018 07:50 AM PDT So I bought a second hand Watch from the 1st gen that was listed as faulty. The seller said that the unit doesn't charge, and mentioned that this was a "known problem" for these devices. A quick google search determined that it was indeed a known problem, which could be relatively easy to resolve. Of course, things didn't go that smoothly. (I knew perfectly fine that I might have to replace the battery when I bought it.) The unit gets warm during the charging process, and doesn't charge at all. The display repeatedly turns off and on, sometimes immediately and sometimes it fades off. That's probably a dead battery. So here's the actual question. It's a 38mm Watch, 1st gen. a) Are the 38mm and 42mm batteries the same? b) There seem to be two kinds of batteries on ebay for the Watch. Ones < €15, and ones > €25. Being a device that I wear on my wrist, I don't want to have it blow up on me while using it (which we all know can happen, thanks to the lesson Samsung taught us). Would I be safe with going for a cheaper battery, or should I really spend that extra bit on a more expensive one? Are there even any fundamental differences between both types? [link] [comments] |
Can I make Photos app automatically loop animated GIFs? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 11:13 AM PDT I wonder why the photos app does not automatically loop animated GIFs. Is there a trick or an option to do that? Edit: I mean animated reddit GIFs that I saved in my photo library. [link] [comments] |
Should I wait to purchase an iMac until the next release? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 10:52 AM PDT The iMac was last refreshed Mid-2017 and I'm about to pull the trigger on the maxed out 27inch 5K, however if a new one is supposed to come out soon I'd prefer to wait. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
