| Posted: 21 Jul 2018 05:58 PM PDT Hi again. I have the following: 27" iMac 2017 3.4ghz i5 quad core 16GB RAM 1TB Fusion Storage Video card don't matter, I don't use it. I use company applications on this computer (which aren't super well optimized it seems), as well as 12 or so other applications at any given time. Usually like 15 tabs open. There are times, however, that the computer freezes for a few moments. I firmly believe the culprit is the disk drive. This is because activity monitor shows I'm usually at >10 utilization. I usually have 12/16GB of RAM in use. The graphs on those look fine when the freezes occur. However the disk activity shows a huge spike in disk activity when this occurs. It feels as though a PRAM reset helps the issue for a short time but the issue occurs once more. Any ideas, y'all? [link] [comments]  |
| Location inaccurate while wifi is turned off Posted: 21 Jul 2018 04:05 PM PDT Recently my iPhone 6 (iOS 11.4) has been giving me a wrong location through Maps. It shows me that my location is about a mile away from where I actually am. It does however become active when I am at home and connect to the wifi. It is not only limited to the Maps app. Pokemon Go also can not get a GPS location. I do have my Location Services for both Maps and Pokemon Go set to "While using the app" If anyone knows how to get a correct location without using wifi, please let me know. I am unable to use both apps outside of the range of my router. [link] [comments]  |

I removed iCloud which stored most of my files, erased the hard drive and ran a fresh install of the OS. I didn't do anything else... | 'Assist Me' button on MacOS High Sierra alternative? Posted: 21 Jul 2018 10:04 PM PDT I just updated to MacOS High Sierra and entered the Network section on System Preferences and the 'Assist Me' button is no longer there. I used to use Assist Me > Diagnostics to not only check my connection status but also sometimes it was also useful in reestablishing the connection after the WIFI stopped working. Does anyone know of any apps or tools that I can download that bring the same functionality back? It was a really useful tool, and I know regret updating. [link] [comments]  |

I restarted the device and windows was booting so as an impulse reaction I held the power button down and turned it off so I can restart it and boot Mac OS instead. However, after that the machine won't turn on. I haven't spilled anything on the computer, not even recently. | Printing a large PDF over multiple pages (tiling) on iOS? Posted: 21 Jul 2018 09:09 PM PDT I have a PDF which is a single large image which is meant to print over about six pages. When I try to print it from iOS 11.4 (on either my iPhone X or my iPad Air 2) it simply downsizes the PDF to fit the whole thing on a single page. Is there any way to tell iOS to print it at its original size and tile it across multiple pages? (I'm willing to download a third party app if necessary.) Thanks for your help. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 21 Jul 2018 08:15 PM PDT I'm only two weeks into my month and my data is almost all used up. My phone reports System Services used 5.3GB with "iTunes Accounts" using 5.2GB of that. Previous months, System Services might go a little over 500MB per month. iPhone 8 Plus on 11.4.1. Cellular data for Photos, Music, Podcasts, App updates, WiFi assist, etc turned off. I've been home with WiFi all day today and System Services has somehow used another ~200MB of data! A few days ago I factory reset my phone. Data usage still crazy high. Signed out of iTunes. Data usage still going. I've called Apple and they said call Verizon. Called Verizon and they said call Apple. What the hell is going on? [link] [comments]  |

A little context first, I bought my 2017 macbook pro a little over 6 months ago, i've had the logicboard switched 2 times and a ssd once. For this reason i see "problems" all over when using my macbook. I write "problems" because im worried everytime it does something its not supposed to do, since its an expensive machine, for me atleast. Is the screensaver supposed to look like this? Posted: 21 Jul 2018 12:12 PM PDT I'm sorry if this is inappropriate for this thread, but I have a question about iMessages and I don't know how to phrase this question in a google search. I went through a messy breakup with my ex girlfriend about a month ago. Yesterday I got a notification that my Apple ID was being used on another iPhone. I thought "hmm that's odd" but didn't do any investigating. This morning I got that notification on my laptop, and took a look at what was going on. My old iphone was now in my device list, and I took a look around my apartment and could not find it. I remembered she had it in her desk. So I believe she turned the iPhone on and since I had never erased it, was logged into my Apple ID. I know she would receive any iMessages I sent the past two days, but I am worried the phone would repopulate with every iMessage that has been sent since that phone was turned off. I know when I turn my laptop on when it hasn't been on in a couple days, every iMessage I sent while it was off comes through all at once. This would include information about where I currently live, which I do not want her to possess for obvious reasons. Any suggestions? All passwords have been changed already and I have removed the device from my device list. Am I right in my fears of her seeing everything I've texted since the break-up? [link] [comments]  |

| New Iphone problem - some apps not working after restore from old Iphone Posted: 21 Jul 2018 11:20 AM PDT Phone model: Iphone X iOS version: 11.41 I just bought a new Iphone X. I plugged my old Iphone 6S with latest 11.41 iOS into my computer to do an itunes backup. Afterwards, I updated my new Iphone X to 11.41 and then cleaned the Iphone X for a fresh setup. Plugged the new Iphone X to the computer and use Itunes to restore the new Iphone X from my old Iphone 6s backup. Everything went well. Did all the dates, location, wifi setup on the phone and successfully got to the home page of the Iphone. But when I click on whatsapp it's not working. Same as Facebook. Not sure whats happening. | Noticed that my brand new AirPods have this hissing/static sound whenever i listened to music.. Posted: 21 Jul 2018 06:22 PM PDT When i turn on the music i hear a short static sound (sounds like the airpods are turning on or something) and i keep hearing this semi-quiet hissing sound, even though when i have the volume on 0% with the music still playing. When i turn off the music i still hear the hissing for 1-2s and after the 1-2s i hear the static sound again (sounding like the airpods are turning "off"). Everything is fine but it seems that the battery dies VERY quickly. I was at 74% and within a span of 10 minutes I'm at 64% now. Any suggestions? Whenever I try to open a webpage in Safari, the page doesn't load and I get this message. Using Google search works fine but no other webpages will load. All other apps that use Wi-Fi, like YouTube and the App Store, work fine. I can't figure out how to fix this issue. I don't think it's a problem with the Wi-Fi network itself because it works fine on my laptop and iPhone. I have tried both rebooting my iPad (holding down both the lock and home buttons) as well as resetting my iPads network settings. Neither one fixed the issue. What do I do? [link] [comments]  |

| Can't import import photos from iPhone Posted: 21 Jul 2018 10:02 AM PDT Window's File Explorer and Window's Photos both crash when attempting to import photos from my dad's iPhone. My dad has a 256 GB iPhone containing 13,000 photos going back years. 230GB of the phone's storage is occupied. According to the "Manage Storage" submenu, approx 30 GB of that is photos, while almost 200 GB is "misc". We have no idea what the misc data is. I suspect that my dad's phone is having performance issues due to the storage running low. I want to preserve all the photos and clear out as much space as I can. I keep getting the error message UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE when trying to connect to the app store. I've tried deleting any invalid certificates in Keychain access, and made sure the trust settings for all valid certificates is set to "System Defaults". I don't really get how iCloud photo works though. Even with the optimizing option selected, it seems like it's taking up even more space because it's downloading the lower quality files to all my devices. | WhatsApp not backing up to iCloud... Posted: 21 Jul 2018 10:25 AM PDT
Hi there! Am going away next week for a couple of months so was doing a full backup of my phone. I noticed that my "other" storage was taking up 7GB, so I did a quick search and concluded that it must be a memory corruption, so I was going to do a factory reset of my phone and then reinstate the backup. I made the backup of the overall iPhone last night no problems. I then tried to backup WhatsApp this morning to iCloud and got the general 'not enough space' message, so I went through my iCloud and checked what I had on there. On the iCloud app, it says I haven't got a WhatsApp backup, but then on WhatsApp, it says I do. I deleted it (and now have 5GB free of iCloud storage) and have been trying all day to backup. As this backup never showed up on the iCloud, I can't recover it. All that happens is it says "Uploading: 0 bytes of 842.1MB (0%)" and then doesn't do anything for ages. I have tried both including and not including videos. I have checked my internet connection, rebooted the iPhone, rebooted both the Settings/iCloud app and WhatsApp. The last time I did a mass backup of iPhone, WhatsApp, iPad, MBP was in February and I didn't have this problem with WhatsApp back then..
