    /r/macOSBeta is now open!

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 02:19 PM PDT

Due to popular demand, we have re-launched /r/macOSBeta! We hope this change will benefit both communities, and allow a dedicated beta discussion platform. You are welcome to post in either subreddits, but we ask you use "Beta" flair when posting in /r/macOS to help distinguish between beta and non beta posts.

    Thanks!

Does formatting a MacBook Pro speed up the performance?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:54 PM PDT

I have a 2015 13" MacBook Pro and is currently running on macOS High Sierra, i have started to experience some lags and slowing down in the performance after I updated my laptop to high sierra 6 months ago. I have heard that cleaning up the storage and reinstalled the OS can boost up the performance. Is it true?

Is it possible to revert finder window to its original dimension/size?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 10:56 PM PDT

I would like to revert things such as column size, folder size, grid spacing, and etc to its out-of-the-box state. Is there an easy way to this? Thanks.

Any software to auto-hide Dock when windows come into contact with it?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:26 PM PDT

Ubuntu's Unity dock has a setting where the dock is usually always visible, but will become hidden when it's covered by a window. It's a nice feature when you've got limited screen real estate (I like to see the dock but want it gone when I've got lots of windows and need all of the screen) but macOS has no equivalent. Is anyone aware of a utility that does this for macOS? There's a GitHub project with the last update 6yrs ago but it refuses to even open, so maybe there's nothing dedicated to this task specifically, but if there are any window management programs that have this feature it would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

    Aspect Ratios in iMovie

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:22 PM PDT

Is it possible to change the aspect ratio in iMovie? I'm trying to create a video for IGTV, which has to be vertical, but I can't find an option for this in iMovie.

Spotify can't play current song on macOS Mojave

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 07:48 PM PDT

Ever since I updated my computer to MacOS Mojave, Spotify can't play music? I have tried re-installing the app twice and have logged in and out multiple times. Does anyone have the same problem?

2017 Touchbar MacBook Pro permanently stuck on Software Update (can't hard reboot)

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 04:02 AM PDT

My Mac is permanently stuck on the "installing software update" screen. I've tried hard resetting (hold down power for over a minute) multiple times. It's literally just stuck. The mouse works, the Touchbar still changes when holding function. Sound still works when unplugging & plugging power. Cannot force quit, have tried opening & closing lid, with and without power, every key combo I know. Will not respond. I have absolutely no idea what to do :( help!?

    DAE have trouble installing 10.13.5?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 12:11 PM PDT

When it first came out, I tried to install it on my work computer (which may itself have magical settings preventing its install) but the installer would always abort super early and drop me back to the login.

Has this happened to anyone else? I just installed today and everything went as expected. I can see the new version number in About.

Early 2013 Macbook Pro USB Ports Not Working

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:00 AM PDT

This has been going on for a few weeks now ever since I updated to the dev beta. One USB port works and the other one doesn't, I've tried resetting back to mountain lion and then high sierra, and back to mojave, nothing works. I reset the SMC and NVRAM to no avail. Hoping someone here will know what I should try.

High Sierra worst OS Since Vista?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 01:50 PM PDT

I've worked in IT for years, using different version of Windows, OSX, and Linux for my primary workstation

My experience with the 2017 touchbar mbp + High Sierra is the absolute worst experience I've had so far

Its majorly OS related as well

My system goes completely unresponsive at least once a day with not much load

The OS module which handles the top menu bar hangs all the time, the 3rd party application icons respond but none of the OS icons (bluetooth, wifi, audio, battery, calendar, etc)

The keyboard (external as well as built in) gets stuck on CAPS, I can use the accessibility keyboard to type in lowercase but not any keyboard, whether or not the Caps Lock icon is lit or not, whether or not I hold shift or not (this happens frequently)

I've run the Diagnostic test to find nothing

Such a shame as macbooks have been so reliable until now, its impeding my ability to work
