Has anyone ever noticed their earbuds randomly get much quieter a a few months down the road?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 03:36 AM PDT

I'll just plug em' in one day and they're just a lot quieter than when I first got them. This has happened a few times in the past as well. Does regular use cause them to become faulty? Are my ears just getting clogged? Paying to replace them every few months or so gets old. Does anyone else have this problem?

Why Apple’s AirPower Wireless Charger Is Taking So Long to Make

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 04:55 AM PDT

Why can't my iPhone remember what I was listening to?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 04:35 PM PDT

I understand why, when I turn my phone back on, it won't automatically start playing the last thing I was listening to if it was a third-party app like Spotify. But when I plug it into my car's AUX jack it starts playing the first thing in my music library, even if I was listening to an Apple music playlist before. I have to periodically add a new song that begins with A because that's what I'm going to hear, every time. (Latest: "Aaron, Burr, Sir," from Hamilton. I love the soundtrack but having heard it several times a day for weeks, I need something new.)

Am I missing something obvious? If I was listening to a playlist of music on my phone, why can't my phone remember that?

Anyone having issues with auto rotate not working properly ? It's going berserk. Sometimes it stays in the orientation and sometimes it won't. It'll become alright if I open an app.

Going from an iPhone 7 to the iPhone X - Initial Thoughts

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 09:43 PM PDT

Last Friday, I switched carriers (Verizon to T-Mobile) and along with the carrier switch, I decided to get the iPhone X. T-Mobile was running a BOGO promo for the iPhone 8, which they gave me one of alongside my X (this is the only reason I got the X, I wouldn't have paid $1000 for it, but more on that later). I got the space grey 64GB option.

Although I won't make this about carriers, let me mention that T-Mobile ONE Plus is a great plan. I've never really done a written review before so pardon me if I don't cover everything. I think it's been broken down enough that this may not be helpful to everyone, but I'm going to do it anyway. I'll mostly be drawing comparisons to the 7 since that's the phone I've used since it released in September 2016.

    Design

The iPhone X is premium and that's just the bottom-line. I think it's worthy of being called art, from an external hardware perspective. The glass back immediately caught my eye. Coming from the aluminum-backed 7, I have to say I love this design choice. I used my 7 without a case for about a year and the black paint on the back corners began to fade to white - ugly! That won't happen with glass. Also, the steel band around the edge of the phone sort of... pops. It's subtle but I really like how reflective it is. This is all with the screen off.

    Screen

When you power up the phone... wow. It is really gorgeous. I'm using the proprietary "Earth" wallpaper. I love how coherent the black background is with the rest of the phone (kudos to the OLED). The notch is still not visible from this view and the image of Earth is crystal clear and impeccably vivid. I have experienced True Tone display on my iPad and I sorely missed it on my iPhone 7. It makes a slight but necessary difference if you spend a good bit of time looking at the screen. I'll say this: if eye-strain is an issue for you, I think the display technology alone should be enough to convince you to upgrade if you can afford to. You will enjoy the difference.

Next, I feel obligated to mention the notch. I was about to skip over it and I think that alone says something about it. It's just not a big deal. It's there, and its function both necessitates and justifies its presence. I'll speak more on FaceID next, but I need to drive home the point that the notch is not at all a hindrance and in my opinion, it gives the phone a signature look. Onwards.

    FaceID

So long TouchID, you will not be missed. Not by me at least. I can't think of a single reason I'd prefer TouchID over FaceID. FaceID is fast, requires less from the user, and makes opening notifications seamless. Plus it works when it's dark and half of your face is smushed up against a pillow. It also works when it's raining and your hands are wet.

I'm not going to talk about how much I wish Apple would fix the notification system, but I will admit that FaceID actually makes opening notifications really satisfying. If I receive an iMessage, I raise my phone to wake, tap on the notification, and the chat opens immediately. Like I said, it feels seamless. I hate talking like this while people on this planet don't have food to eat, but having to tap on a notification then bring my thumb down to the home button to unlock kinda just sucks, comparatively.

    Gestures

It probably took me about 15 minutes to accommodate to the X. Seriously, it's that easy. Swiping up to home and left and right to switch apps is simply better. Swiping down from the top to see notifications is essentially the same as before and I will admit I'm still having some trouble adjusting to control center at the top right. I don't like it there.

Multitasking: I think it needs improvement. To get there, you swipe up from the bottom and hold for a moment. No problem. But if you're closing apps, you have to hold one of them until a red bubble appears at the top left of each app, then either swipe up each or tap the bubbles. Swiping up is slower than tapping the bubbles, however, I usually inadvertently open an app I'm trying to close out of due to the way they shift around as the apps close. If someone could give me a tip on how to avoid that - I'd appreciate it.

    Performance

No complaints here. I don't know what to talk about here so I'll just say that it does exactly what you want it to and rarely makes you wait.

    Battery Life

A few months ago I replaced the battery on my iPhone 7 so I haven't dealt with bad battery life in a while. The X has good battery life. It won't last you a week, but I've heard some say it lasts them 2 days. I regret to admit that I've become somewhat of a "heavy" user" and my battery life is comfortably making it to the end of the day. My 7 survived through the day, but the assumption that I'm using the X more than I used the 7 is a fair one to make because it is simply a pleasure to use.

I'd like to get a wireless charging dock - taking suggestions.

    Price

It's expensive. And not just the $1000+ price tag, but also a few other things which I deem necessary: a good case, AppleCare+, and for those of you who don't mind it, a glass screen protector. I bought Apple's leather case in black and I love it. I'll only end up paying ~$580 since I'm splitting the $1000 price with my sister, who took the free iPhone 8 T-Mobile gave me. T-Mobile also seems to be covering AppleCare+ for me which I greatly appreciate. Especially because I hate screen protectors and refuse to use them. If my screen cracks, I'll only have to pony up $30 which to me is worth not having to deal with an extra layer of glass. If you can't afford AppleCare+ then I can't suggest the X as a reasonable phone.

If I missed anything, forgive me and then let me know so I can cover it. Again, it's my first time really reviewing anything. Peace and love.

Need a new screen protector, can't find what I'd like.

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 10:08 AM PDT

The one I have is matte and fades the screen a little bit. It's nice that it removes glare but I hate the texture. Just to be clear, I'm not a big fan of tempered glass protectors even though they are really the best for protecting your screen.

I used to get screen protectors that were fully clear but had this really gummy texture. You could put your nail to it and it would feel pretty sticky. I'd like to be able to find one like that again. An Amazon or eBay link would be cool, but just some information would suffice.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus by the way.

    iOS 12 beta

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 09:54 AM PDT

Anyone else notice an improvement in battery efficiency? The last couple of days I've noticed that I can stream longer between charges. Even on battery hungry apps like Hulu and cbs all access. CBS all access use to drain my battery to 20% after 4 hours now it's 6 hours before I want to plug my phone in

    Contacts

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 09:28 AM PDT

I like to have my contacts created only in an offsite email account. This way if I ever lose my phone I just change my e-mail password and all my contact info is wiped clean from my phone or if I ever decide to switch operating systems it's a much easier process to transfer contacts. I realize this isn't the most efficient way but it's how I like it.

Anyway this process worked fine until the last couple IOS updates. Now when I update a contact on my email, the phone has a copy of the old info as well as the new info I just uploaded. It's almost as if it just copies the info.

Is there a way to turn this off so it's only pulling from my designated e-mail account?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 09:18 AM PDT

Hey guys! I just got this awesome carbon fiber case but it does come with a metal plate in the back and I was wondering if it's gonna be a problem to my phone sensors or any other hardware.

I don't use wireless charging or any car mount, i just really like the case but it comes with the metal plate.

    Thanks.

Regular iPhone 8 brightness bug is driving me nuts. Anyone else?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 09:07 AM PDT

Yo guys! I am on iOS 11.4 and my phone's brightness will not go all the way even if it showed that it is. The brightness at max looks like it is halfway. I tried turning auto brightness on/off, turning my phone on/off, turning on/off true tone and all that. Any fixes or clues?

imessage icloud syncing not possible on two iphones?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:48 AM PDT

I switch been my iphone x and iphone se running ios 12 beta every few days for various reasons, and one thing thats annoying is the phone that i wasnt using for a few days, be it the X or the SE, is never fully caught up with latest messages during those few days.

Basically, I am using iphone X for a few days, go to the SE, and all the messages i sent and recieved during those few days never get synced to the SE. and same happens going from SE to X. Both phones apparently have imessages turned on. I even noticed that if i keep both phones turned on. Sim card in X for example, i start a new imessage convo from it. It appears on my ipad pro and macbook, but not on my iphone SE which is turned on and signed into icloud etc. And same case if phones are swapped places in this experiment.

is it just not possible to have two phones working 100% on imessage?

Incoming phone call on both ends?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 07:53 PM PDT

Was just laying in bed and got in incoming call from my friend, answered it and she sounded confused. We talked for a bit until she asked why I called her and I told her she was the one that called me. She said she was in her closet when her phone on her bed started ringing. Tried CarPlay for the first time yesterday and I have some questions about wireless

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 05:44 AM PDT

I have seen people saying that wireless CarPlay is rare and that it uses wifi instead of bluetooth. I drove a 2018 VW Crafter yesterday which has both CarPlay and wifi capabilities, but I couldn't figure out how to connect wireless?

Shouldn't a car with wifi and CarPlay be able to do this? Is it a limitation that can be «fixed» with an update?

The wifi is used for some hotspot feature in the car. I just figured that since it can do that, then wireless CarPlay should also be possible.

Does anybody else's AirPods case lid feels a lil loose and "clicks"?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2018 01:42 AM PDT

I've had my AirPods a couple of days now and I'm in love with them. My t-confs have become a pleasure now and the way they autopair with any of my iDevices is almost magical BUT I realized last night that there's a bit of looseness in the hinge which makes a clicking sound if I push it from side to side.

I know it's probably nothing but it makes me nervous and I can't stop clicking it.

Is this somehow expected? Should I claim warranty or something?

    Thanks!!
