Posted: 21 Jun 2018 10:20 AM PDT I am heading to medical school this fall and am hoping to get an iPad to take notes/study with after trying a friends for about a week, he has a 9.7" pro with Apple pencil and I loved it. I'm trying to narrow down what I need out of the many iPads now. I'm primarily looking for compatibility with the pencil since my main purpose for getting it is to purchase notes. I also use quite a few apps, not necessarily many games though, on my iPhone and appreciated upgrading to a 64GB and am wondering how fast y'all fill your storage. I'm also wondering how and where to best buy it, price/warranty/etc. Appreciate any advice, thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Jun 2018 07:34 AM PDT Hi Everyone! Is an apple pencil for $81 good? Or should I wait for the summer student deal that will be somewhere else? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Mirror iPad screen on TV without Apple TV? Posted: 21 Jun 2018 09:29 AM PDT As the title suggests, is there any app which would mirror the screen of my iPad on my Chromecast TV? Tried googling but didn't help. TIA [link] [comments] |
How to quickly copy text from a pdf to a notetaking app? Posted: 21 Jun 2018 05:51 AM PDT I am reading newspaper pdfs on my iPad and whenever I read something interesting, I want to copy it to a general depository of notes to which I can come back anytime. Is there a way to quickly do this? So far I have only found ways to copy the whole pdf to, let's say Evernote. I do not first want to highlight the text, press copy, close the pdf, go to evernote, choose the notebook and then click paste... I am new to iOS and somehow thought that would be an easy feature but I cannot find a quick way? [link] [comments] |
Should I upgrade my iPad Pro 12.9 (2015) to 2018? Posted: 21 Jun 2018 02:10 PM PDT Hi I have the 12.9 pro 2015 version and I was wondering if it's worth upgrading to the 2018 or even the 2017 version? What is the difference? Is it a HUGE different or small? Appreciate everyone's help :) [link] [comments] |
Best ipad pro 12.9 keyboard? (2015) Posted: 21 Jun 2018 01:39 PM PDT Hi I'm looking for a lightweight and good looking keyboard for my 12.9 iPad pro (2015) I am thinking getting the official apple keyboard but can I get better ones? Appreciate everyones help :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Jun 2018 05:58 AM PDT I am looking for a very simple day planner. Something that allows me to see time blocks clearly in a day and allocate them accordingly. Something that would work well with the theory that we have 96 energy blocks during day. https://www.fs.blog/2018/06/succeed-at-work/ [link] [comments] |
Ipad mini 2 will not charge when it's on. Posted: 21 Jun 2018 08:29 AM PDT I have a 5 yo iPad mini 2 that will not charge with my Samsung power adapter. It works before since I last used it (a year ago). I can't find the Ipad power plug. [link] [comments] |

Wondering about a stylus for my Air 2, considering the Pencil by 53 Posted: 20 Jun 2018 06:54 PM PDT Before you tell me to upgrade my iPad and get an apple pencil because of how great it is, I know but a whole new iPad isn't in the budget right now. Mostly it's for sketching in the Paper app with a couple of notes. I'm sure I'll end up using the stylus to take some real notes but right now its primary purpose would be sketching. Because I'm using Paper I figured the associated stylus would be the best bet but it's so chunky I was thinking that a normal sized stylus would do the job as well, if not better, and if I want to use it for notes that would be better as well. Thoughts on the Pencil or any other Air2 compatible stylus appreciated. Just please, don't tell me how great the apple pencil is. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jun 2018 09:52 PM PDT I've never used a screen protector before on any of my devices and I've never had any break, so I'm not that concerned about breaking the screen. I've been reading a lot of posts online and it seems some people have gotten scratches from their pencil because there was some "dust" that they didn't see on the screen or tip. I'm curious to hear from people (especially if you didn't have any scratching) about using the pencil with a naked iPad screen. When I went to the Apple Store, it didn't seem like the iPads really had any scratches so I wonder if that says anything? [link] [comments] |
iPad usage: on charger or off? Posted: 21 Jun 2018 01:21 AM PDT So my usage situation is a bit different than what I assume most people's are. I am always near a power outlet with my iPad Pro 10.5 and I use it for browsing and a special program for school. Whether I'm at home or on the go, I have my charger near me so I just plug it in and stay at 100% for most of the time. Occasionally I might take it off charger, but that's usually at home and I'm on the couch or bed browsing or streaming. I know phones and laptops have the same questions about how to use it, on or off the charger. I can't imaging the iPad is any different. But am I hurting the iPad battery by using it on charger 90% of the time? I know heat is a big threat to any battery but I'm not doing anything intensive. It's just plugged in. I used my previous iPad, an Air, on and off the charger 50/50. The battery seemed to be just fine when I upgraded to the Pro but I just didn't want that to be a fluke. So how do you use yours, on or off the charger? And do you worry about doing it either way and expediting the battery degradation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jun 2018 06:47 PM PDT So I'm debating whether to get the 2017 5th gen iPad or the 2018 6th gen with pencil support. I can afford both but was wondering if I'll notice a difference in processor speed. 5th gen has dual core a9 while 6th gen has quad core a10. I doubt I'll use an Apple Pencil. Do you think the bump in specs is worth the extra money? [link] [comments] |
Really considering an iPad pro! Posted: 20 Jun 2018 06:45 PM PDT So eyeballing the 10.5 at 100$ off right now.. Only concern is that the new ipad will have a big jump in hardware.. What are the odds that the current gen ipad pro gets blown out of the water by the new one? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jun 2018 05:51 PM PDT Hi Mods, please remove if I've missed out any weekly/daily questions thread. Hi guys, I'm considering getting an iPad to supplement my work and personal laptops. My use case will be fairly simple - word processing, Netflix, reading, browsing, reddit, and planning to dabble in note-taking with the Apple Pencil. I know at this point you are probably thinking - duh get the iPad 2018 if money is a constraint and it will be sufficient, splurge for the iPad 10.5 or wait for the next release if money is of no object. However, hear me out. Here in my country, the iPad Pro 10.5 costs as much as half of a monthly household median income (and is almost my monthly salary). So yes, money will be a constraint. I can always get it with my annual bonus, but still, a lot of money to fork out for a supplementary machine. My lifestyle is quite, mobile? Not sure if that is the right word, but outside of work I'm constantly on the move. I prefer not to work at home or in the office when possible, and like to get stuff done in a cafe. For leisure, I'm also outdoor a lot. As a on and off smoker, I like to sit outdoors. So, I might not have the luxury of finding just the right spot to prevent glare all the time. Will the non-pro iPad's screen glare be an issue here? For note-taking, the use-case will be client meetings. Will the hollow sound of the apple pencil scribbling on a non-laminated screen be a distraction? As for other differences between the 2, my thoughts are as below, and please do correct me if I'm wrong: Sound Quality - Going for the non-pro iPad will mean I save enough money to splurge on a decent bluetooth speaker and a bluetooth keyboard. Speaking of the keyboard... Smart Keyboard compatibility - The non-adjustable angle of the smart keyboard is not very appealing to me. Think I'm getting a tablet stand and bluetooth keyboard instead. Processing Power - My use cases are fairly simple, and I don't think I need the extra 2gb of RAM in the pro. That being said, some extra RAM is always nice. True Tone and ProMotion - They seem like very attractive features but not a necessity for my use-case. I don't think the latency on the non-pro iPad will be crippling, and based on videos I've seen it should still beat the Surface handily. Non-Laminated Screen - My biggest gripe with going for the non-Pro. I don't think it will make that much of a difference (coming from an iPad Mini 1), but happy to hear your thoughts. So TL:DR - The iPad Pro will be a perfect, albeit overkill device for me, so thinking of going non-Pro instead. However, I'm worried about the non-Pros screen. Happy to hear your thoughts. Thanks! iPad Pro 12.9 (2017)- for educational purposes Posted: 20 Jun 2018 04:23 PM PDT I am able to purchase it for 775 USD for 64GB Wifi+LTE 12.9 inch model where I am at. How much will it cost after taxes in California? Moving there soon, so just need an estimate- how low do prices on iPads go during black friday or christmas sales? [link] [comments] |
