is 4:4:4 at HDR only 8 bit color? apparently it's too much information for HDMI spec to be 10bit. are we relying on match frame rate to bring things down to 30hz to get 10bit color?

will the apple tv automatically switch to 4:2:2 if a movie is HDR then back to 4:4:4?

researching 4:4:4 shows it only supports 10bit at low refresh rates, which means we rely on match frame rate and pray the movie is a low one which enables 10bit?

Infuse and Plex on a Synology DS218+

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 05:44 PM PDT

I am going to buy a DS218+ in the coming weeks as my channels DVR, however will it also be able to support Infuse via Plex installed on the NAS? I have read on the Plex site that it should work with Plex but may struggle with 1080p movies. So my question is will the DS218+ work better using Infuse to stream via the NAS running Plex? Thanks in advance!

    Apple TV4K Match Content

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 02:33 PM PDT

    Hey Everyone,

I've read so much about the Apple TV settings in regards to HDR and how to use the Match Content settings, Chroma settings, etc. but I'm struggling to find any good information for my situation.

I have a Samsung UN55JU6500, which is a 4K set, but it is NOT an HDR set. My format is set to 4K SDR, and I'm confident about that setting (obviously). Where I'm confused is with the match content settings and chroma. Should I enable the match content settings or is that only for HDR TVs? I have frame rate set to "on" but not dynamic range. I do have Chroma set to 4:4:4, but not sure if this matters for a non HDR set. My UHD color is turned on and I'm using a high speed Monoprice cable.

    Thanks for your help!

Had Apple replace my Apple 4K TV console unit due to an hdmi signal issue. The replacement came in a brown box, sealed and everything. They are claiming that it’s new. Is this true? Or is it refurbished?

    All Sports

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 12:42 PM PDT

What would be the best way to watch the most sport leagues on Apple TV?

(including services which are only availible with vpn/dns)

The more leagues one service has, the better

These leagues I'm particularly interested in:

    Bundesliga 1

    La Liga

    Ligue 1

    Serie A

    Premier League

    UEFA Champions League

    UEFA Europa League

    UEFA Super Cup

    UEFA Nations League

    UEFA Euro

    World Cup

    F1

    NFL

    NBA

    (UFC/Boxing big fights)

some services come to my mind that offer many leagues like bein sports, dazn but what would be the best way to not have to subscribe to many services

    Gen 4 or 4K

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 08:56 PM PDT

If I get the gen 4 am I really going to miss the features the 4K have. I don't play 4K and have no plan on buying one anytime soon, I only play 1080p mkv, I don't have atoms sound or any plans in upgrading, my house has 1gbs Ethernet so will I notice the that a gen 4 doesn't have gigabit Ethernet, or should just fork out for the 4K and not worry, with the cost of infuse and channels it all seems to be adding up quickly

    AirPlay Sync issues with receiver

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 07:19 PM PDT

Due to an issue with an HDMI cord, I've been trying to airplay Dolby Surround from my AppleTV 4K to my Onkyo TN555 receiver, which supports AirPlay.

It has a persistent audio lag ranging from a few hundred milliseconds to a few seconds. Anyone solve something similar?

Considering purchasing an Apple TV 4th gen for Cantonese shows.

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 06:16 PM PDT

(Apologies for the bad English) I'm considering purchasing an Apple TV for my parents to watch Cantonese channels mainly TVB or dramas. Are there any apps or websites that I can download in the app store to watch those? If not, are there any alternative TV boxes to buy because I purchased numerous TV boxes in the past such as the TV Pad or Blue TV, and both stopped operating after 5 months.

    Thanks in advance!

Does the latest firmware improve the quality Multi-PCM audio the ATV4K sends to the receiver?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 05:45 PM PDT

I am still on older firmware (call me paranoid) and found the MultiPCM audio to be much lower in volume than DD5.1. Have they fixed that. Also, how does the MPCM audio compare to DD+ audio ?(which ATV does not offer)

Considering buying a Apple TV 4K

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 09:39 AM PDT

Trying to work out is the best option for me instead of the Nvidia Shield tv, I don't play 4K and I only have tv sound. My internet is poor only 10 download. I have a Plex server on my network and a HDHomeRun, all I want to play is Plex, Netflix and live tv with a nice interface, my Plex server runs Emby as well but I subscribe to Plex at the moment it all depends on what has the best interface. Will an Apple TV play direct 1080p from local server what live tv apps are there that give a grid view for the wife that interstate with my HDHomeRun

Switching from WiFi to Ethernet. Any procedural issues?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2018 06:57 AM PDT

I am going to connect my Apple TV 4k to my home internet via an Ethernet cord from my Asus router. I have been using it through wifi from the same Asus router for the past three weeks.

Is there anything specific I need to do to connect it? Is there a 'turn off wifi' option? Should it stop connecting to wifi as soon as I plug in the Ethernet? May sound like dumb questions but networking stuff has always been finicky in the past on PC stuff. Apple is probably much more user friendly I hope.
