Apple Macbook Just got my MacBook yesterday, has this tiny little chip in the bezel at the top. Should I even bother trying to take it for a replacement. It’s perfect except for that and maybe I could fix it myself? Any tips?

Disable MacOS High Sierra Startup Sound?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:52 AM PDT

Is there anyway to disable the startup sound permanently on my Macbook? I have tried using some of the terminal command (sudo nvram SystemAudioVolume=\%80) but they don't seem to work.

    Which MacBook should I get?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 01:56 PM PDT

Hi, I want to buy a used laptop and I saw two good offers.

    • The first one is a 15" 2012 MacBook Pro Retina Display with 16gb of ram and 500GB SSD storage.

Core i7 2.3 ghz 16GB Ram Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1GB dedicated graphics

    • The second one is a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display

    Core i5 2.7 ghz 8 gb ram

Which one is a better option for me?

    Any student discounts on macbook?

I'm planning on buying a macbook. I need some suggestions on which one to buy and where to get the best discounts. Also something that isn't over $1000.

    Returning to MacBook -- what'd I miss?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:22 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I bought a 2010 MacBook Pro when I went to college. It served me well for like five, six years before it died on me. For the last few years, I've been using a work PC as my main computer. But I got a new job, so I bought myself a new MacBook Air.

What new things can I do on my MacBook that I couldn't do a couple years ago? For reference, I'm fully in the Apple ecosystem, with an Apple Watch (Series 1), iPhone 7 and an iPad 4.

    Thanks!

Comp Sci student wanting to specialize in big data analysis, artificial intelligence and video game development. Is the 13 inches MBP suited for my needs?

I will also be doing casual music production ( since I'm a noob I'll use a lot of auto drum from Logic Pro lol )

    Im hesitating between the 128GB version ( 1350€ ) and the 256GB with touchbar version ( 1800€ )

I use Vim for text editing so I don't know if not having physical feedback while switching between normal and insert mode will feel weird ( i use the escape key )

The program I follow will feature introduction to machine learning and such, but I do intend to go down deeper in that direction in the followings year so this is a long term investment. Would the specs of a MacBook hold me back?

NB: i already have the -10% student thingy

    MacBook Air 2017 now?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2018 03:39 AM PDT

Local APR has an sale for MacBook Air and I could get 2017 model with 128 GB, i5 and 8GB RAM for around 650€. Is that great deal? Macbook and Macbook Pro would cost me at least 1100€. I need some Mac for learning Xcode and for school.

    Air Screen issue?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2018 11:50 PM PDT

Near the corner of my MacBook Air's upper right bezel, it seems as if there's a bit of five near the rubber gasket. Like, I can press the metal inward a bit, just a tiny bit. I don't know if being OCD about this or what, but I'd like to know if it's even worth worrying about.
