Is there any way to plug two USB-C storage devices into my single-port Macbook? Posted: 20 Jun 2018 05:38 PM PDT I know that sounds like a function so rudimentary it's even laughable to ask, but I'm honestly stumped. All the "hubs" on Amazon are actually just port replicators, and since none of them offer more than one USB-C port, I can't plug in both my thumb drive and my external 2.5" at the same time. The only solution is to get a C-to-A adapter, which I'd prefer to avoid. Is there really no way to do this? I've been told USB-C was built with daisy chaining in mind, but I can't even find drive enclosures that offer it. [link] [comments] |
INSANE 2011 Macbook Pro Fan Noise Posted: 20 Jun 2018 10:40 AM PDT My 13 in late 2011 Macbook Pro has insanely fan noise even when doing simple tasks. It gets incredibly annoying when I'm in a library and the fan gets really loud when the rest of the environment is silent. The Macbook isn't slow since I added 8gb of RAM and an SSD, but still gets incredibly loud when watching youtube videos or even on web pages. I primarily use Safari since it happens less there than on chrome, but the problem persists when watching video files as well. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem and any fixes? Play, Rewind/FF, Pause keyboard shortcuts not working in iTunes. Posted: 20 Jun 2018 07:39 PM PDT Nothing happens whenever I try pausing iTunes using the F8 keyboard shortcut or fast forwarding using the F9. It does work on Google Play, which guessing Chrome overrode the shortcut keys. There's this article from a few years back, https://major.io/2014/07/30/playpause-button-stopped-working-in-os-x-mavericks/ but it's from an older Chrome version which those settings are no longer available. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Anyway to fix it? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Low battery life on 2017 MBP 13 inch w/ Touch Bar Posted: 20 Jun 2018 07:37 PM PDT I have been having 5-6 hour battery life for normal daily usage, is there a way I can extend that? I usually have my brightness set at 50%, and use safari instead of chrome. [link] [comments] |
I bought a MacBook. Need help. Posted: 20 Jun 2018 01:38 PM PDT I bought a MacBook Pro only to find out it's on some Device Enrollment thing? How do I get rid of that? The notification constantly pops up. [link] [comments] |
Purchasing new MacBook Pro 13inch Posted: 20 Jun 2018 01:52 AM PDT I'm purchasing a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 inch, without the touch-bar. I'll be opting for 512gb ssd and 16gb ram. Where is the best place to purchase one? As of now, I'm planning to buy through the Apple education store. Also, I've seen that the usb-c charging tends to scratch the port, is there a way to prevent this? [link] [comments] |
How old is too old for a macbook air/pro Posted: 20 Jun 2018 02:52 AM PDT Been looking at getting a second hand macbook pro/air for uni so basically would only be doing a bunch of text documents with webpages open on videos (youtube, uni lectures etc) and maybe the very occasional video edit (just cutting and uploading to youtube). I was looking and they are pretty expensive for 2015+ models. My dad has a crappy windows laptop that is brand new and is delayed opening text documents and webpages. I just want something that won't be laggy/slow. Like im pretty tech savy with windows but I was looking at this 2015 13" macbook air 8gb Ram and it has a 1.6ghz processor. Is that gonna be slow with new IOS. Thats pretty much my main question. Is a 1.6hz macbook air gonna run alright or should I look at getting something with a bit more power. Really don't want anything older than 2012 since they look super ugly and I wouldn't trust a 6 year old computer to be running much longer/well. [link] [comments] |
