Should I repair screen of almost 4yrs old 15" MB retina? Posted: 17 Jun 2018 10:05 AM PDT Small head of power adapter got caught between the screen and keyboard while closing the MacBook. Now I'm stuck with a vertical 2cm black band on the left side on my screen. Although primarily anoying....it sucks. Repair costs about 400,- euro. This seems like quite an investment for a MacBook that turns 4 years old in September. Question 1: Should I repair or get a alternative or new one (i.e. turn the old one in)? Question 2: Apple worked great, but new MacBooks are relatively expensive. Are there other brands that approach there standards? (care about video, music and writhing on a thesis, don't like/care about bloated pre-installed crap, instability and games) Thanks! [link] [comments]
Macbook Pro 2016-17 Update Help Posted: 17 Jun 2018 11:51 AM PDT Should I update my newly purchased MacBook Pro to MacOS High Sierra 10.13.5 update or no? [link] [comments]
Mid 2012 macbook pro: severe battery issue. Posted: 16 Jun 2018 11:55 PM PDT This morning my non retina macbook pro wouldn't boot up. The charger led was a dim green and the battery leds on the side wouldn't even light up. With a quick internet search i found out bypassing the battery completely could be a way to get my mbp to boot up. So I unplugged the battery and was able to turn the pc on. I then turned it off again, plugged the battery back on and boot it up again. Unexpectedly the computer is now apparently working fine. It boots up fine, e.ven though it takes longer than usual, the charger led is a bright green and the battery indicator works as usual. The computer even works if I unplug the charger. So my questions are: what was it? Could this happen again? Is travelling with a screwdriver a good solution for now? According to macOS the state of the battery is "replacing soon" (I have not changed it once since i bought the mac); can I wait for the new MacBooks to come out, or am I sitting on a ticking bomb?
