Posted: 01 Jun 2018 12:55 PM PDT After starting to randomly receive MacOS notifications to re-enter my Facebook password in Internet Accounts a few weeks ago, I decided to change my password. The problem wasn't the password, nor was it a Facebook issue. Since the password change, I continue receiving these notifications. I deleted the account in MacOS and tried to re-add it, but it wouldn't re-add, saying the credentials were incorrect. They were not. Here's what ended up happening:
In the interim, I was in contact with Apple 4 times. I finally spoke with a senior advisor this morning and opted to have them remote-into my MBP. They saw what was happening and put me on hold for about 10 minutes to look into it. When they resumed the call, they told me this is a dev/engineering issue that is affecting quite a few people, and "will be supplying a fix in the next MacOS update." ...just in case I'm not actually the only one out there who's spent days forum-searching, Googling, etc. for answers to this or a relative issue. I'm running a mid-2015 MBP, High Sierra 10.13.5 (was 10.13.4 up until the update today), and have no other problems. Don't bother going through all the trouble! [link] [comments]  |

| My phone buzzes multiple time per day with no notifications Posted: 01 Jun 2018 11:31 AM PDT Iphone 8. iOs 11.4 (was also doing it before i updated yesterday) title says it; my phone will buzz some sort of notification but no actual notification appears on screen as a banner or in the notification panel. This happens sometimes while I'm using the phone (actively browsing and it will buzz like I got a message) but nothing new, nothing in notifications panel, no pop up banner on screen. Also happens when phone is on my desk, pocket or charger; just happened on charger, grabbed phone- no notification on lock screen, unlock and swipe down; no new notifications in notification panel, no new messages or emails... Happens using different Qi chargers or often when not charging at all. I checked notification settings and there are no apps set to just sound; anything with sound enabled also has banners/alert enabled. I've restarted multiple times... is there like an activity log somewhere I can check to find the source of this notification buzz that supplies no other info?? [link] [comments]  |
| Macbook highlight & replace text issue Posted: 01 Jun 2018 09:44 PM PDT I've attached a link to a video to show the issue, but basically when I try to highlight and delete or highlight and replace text, it doesn't replace or delete the text properly. In this example you can see I wrote: "Please help me fix this issue" I then highlighted "help me" and proceeded to type "help me" which would in theory just replace the text with what I was typing, so it should still show up as "Please help me fix this issue". As you can see though, it resulted in: "Please h fix thisle issuep me" This happens in many different ways, sometimes when I highlight to replace text and begin typing, the cursor keeps positioning itself in front each new letter and the word will come out complete backwards. So if I were to type "Talk with Rick", and replace Talk with Run, it will result in "nuR with Rick" I have gone through 3 Macbook Pro's, all have this issue. My colleagues at work also see this issue sometimes too. When I reach out to people at the Apple store they say it's a technical issue with the Macbook, but since I've gone through 3 different models and generations it seems to be more. | Posted: 01 Jun 2018 09:41 PM PDT Just to be clear, this is NOT AN ACTIVATION LOCK PROBLEM. Basically the iPad is not locked locked, I can still open it and go into the home screen and the rest of that, just when I go to settings it's logged into the previous owners account, so I am getting their photos, contacts and other info, and can't install any apps. I bought an iPad mini 2 from a guy in September of last year (second-hand), and two months later I dropped it out of a moving car. Was absolutely smashed up, cameras didn't work, LCD and touchscreen were smashed up, and apparently the gyrometer in it didn't work. I took it in to a game shop that does "complete refurbishing", and if they can't refurbish it they'll pay you back your deposit. Pretty nice deal I thought. Went through with it and just before Christmas received the iPad back from the refurbishers, but turns out it was locked to the original owners iCloud account. I contacted Apple and they told me that I would need the original proof of purchase, which I obtained from the guy when I bought the iPad because I know that Apple does this kind of thing (I worked in a computer store and I dealt with Apple on nearly a daily basis for over a year, I know how they work). But I contacted them via phone and when I gave them my proof of purchase, they told me that they usually can't just unlock a device for someone but if I was to update it to the latest iOS version they will attempt it. I hung up, updated the iOS and tried to call them again. They told me to go in to the Apple Store in my area, which mind you is over an hour away, and get the "in store technicians to diagnose your device". I took it there, they said that they were completely booked out till after the weekend (I took it there on a Tuesday). Hell, alright I'll wait until the next Monday and bring it in for them, and yet again, was told they were booked out till the Friday. Basically feel like I'm just getting pushed around by these guys. So I call Apple again and try and get them to do something for me over the phone, and they again tell me to take it in to the Apple store, I tell them what happens when I go in to the store and they give me that "Oh I'm sorry to hear that" sob, but offer no help again other than to take it in to the store. So final attempt now, I take it in to the store and let the techie know my situation, he says something along the lines of "Oh, this type of thing we can't do in store, your best option is to contact the original owner and get the password from him to unlock the device". Wow. Now this was in January/February, with my final attempt to go in store in early March. It's now June, just found the iPad in the bottom of my dresser, no power, and it's just popped in to my head to try and sort this out. So my question is, What is my best option here? | Posted: 01 Jun 2018 09:19 PM PDT Im using iTunes 12.7.5.9, theres no available updates, and I've been having a problem where some of my album artwork isn't showing up on my computer - I've searched online for a solution but haven't been able to find one. As you can see in the picture, it's just random albums (albeit a lot of them) and not an issue of new additions either, its mostly older music I've had for a while, but some of them are recent additions to my library. Posted: 01 Jun 2018 08:36 PM PDT Im having problems repairing iPhone 6S with AirPods after accidentally clicking "forget this device" in its Bluetooth settings. When I try to connect them they don't appear under "my devices" of the Bluetooth tab. I've tried factory resetting the AirPods (holding the pair button for 15+ seconds with AirPods in case) but it won't reset. Instead of flashing amber like instructed it remains white. | Unable to edit Song/Album information on "Get Info" page Posted: 01 Jun 2018 07:02 PM PDT I recently downloaded a few albums onto iTunes, nothing I haven't done before. Usually, I edit the information so that I can fit most, if not all, of my albums into one genre just so that it's easier to shuffle play. However, I am unable to edit the information of these albums. There are no grey bars as other posts have mentioned. All the information looks like it should be editable, but when I go to edit the information, nothing changes. I am not even able to type in new information and have it be reset after. I have already tried the method of editing privileges in the Itunes Media folder (I'm on windows) with no luck. I just upgraded from a 08 imac to a 17 imac 21.5 3.4ghz fusion drive retina. I completed the migration and everything is dandy. Question is i purchased a 4tb hdd and a 500gb T5 ssd, whats the best combo here. i am thinking i want to run the SSD as my start up disk ( i have super duper cloning this now). Whats the next best setup from here. I like to store family pictures, videos, itunes, garageband files, and a plex library. Do I make the 1tb fusion drive my time machine? And then Store and point all media and plex directories at the 4tb hdd? I know just enough to kind of know what i want but not quite how to do it. I want the speed of running off the ssd but its only 500gb. I want time machine. i want to store lots of movies and pictures etc and stream locally to plex. Honestly, i have been waiting years for Apple to just release a base iMac with 500gb to 1tb SSD and i guess its just never going to happen. | I think my hard drive if failing... Posted: 01 Jun 2018 02:14 PM PDT Hey there, My iMac started acting very strange today. Basically it's moving incredibly slow, taking a long time to do anything including browsing files in Finder. I'm thinking my internal drive might be failing but I wanted to check in here to see if anyone has had this same issue or new of any additional fixes I can try. Here's what I've done so far: • Reset the SMC • Reset the PRAM • Cleared system cache I'm also working on clearing space off the drive in case that is causing an issue, but it has 350GB free on a 1TB drive so I don't think that's the case. I've also checked Activity Monitor and it doesn't show any issues with the CPU or RAM spiking to cause the slow performance. My iMac is a late 2013 model, with 32GB RAM, 3.5GHz i7 processor, running High Sierra. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 01 Jun 2018 05:24 PM PDT So my girlfriend's Mac shit out randomly, it's only 4 years old. There's a flashing folder with a question mark in it when you try to turn on the computer. Here's what I've already tried: 1) Command R into Recovery Mode to try to remount hard drive, or restore to a previous time when it was working but the hard drive is not showing up. 2) Command S to try and get into Single User Mode. Holding down Command S just brings it back to the folder with the question mark. I want to try to open it up and see if my email the connection to the Hard Drive has become dislodged slightly. Windows worked really well, but now after a pause of several months, I'm unable to login because keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. Both have enough battery power, so that's not the problem. The mouse cursor does not show up and keyboard inputs are ignored. I'm stuck at the pre-login startup screen (showing the wallpaper and the time below left). Normally, you just press enter to get to the login screen, but everything is frozen. I have MacOS 10.13.4 installed. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]  |

| Unable to calibrate new MacBook Pro battery properly Posted: 01 Jun 2018 04:23 PM PDT I bought a new battery for my 2009 MBP from iFixIt, and I don't seem to be getting the proper usage from it. Battery health is apparently 99% (Coconut Battery and Battery Health both confirm this), but I'm barely getting 2 hours out of it from just normal browsing. After deleting it, I see that there are now two additional storage options on my macbook -> remote disk + WNDR4500V2. The remote disk cannot be ejected but can be removed from the side bar. When I power down all applications will close and the screen goes black however the mouse is still visible and able to move but it's just the white mouse on a black screen. This will be the case for hours if I let it. Forcing a shut down and rebooting works however I'm prompted with an improper shutdown message. At this point my job is done and I would like to hang up, however I have found that when I do so the whole conference ends.
