Xcode 10 on macOS 10.14 has a dark mode Posted: 02 Jun 2018 05:58 AM PDT /r/Apple doesn't allow direct links to Twitter, but here is a tweet by Steve Troughton-Smith. It's unclear where this came from, but he's the one who dug into the iOS 11 GM when it leaked before the keynote last year and discovered Animoji and a lot of details about Face ID, so this is probably legit. Edit: Follow-up tweet:
Edit 2: Video hosted on Apple's site. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jun 2018 05:08 PM PDT Ok so sometimes I use the Apple Music tools website to search a playlist that isn't available in search (like some playlist of Skam or Norwegian rap). But this time I noticed that the player design changed a bit and after listening to a song (preview mode of 30s) I got the message asking me to log in Apple Music. So I logged in and this came up: It's something like "this and other websites have access to your account, so you can listen to a full song and add it to your library". By the way this is the website https://tools.applemusic.com/ Maybe this wwdc we could see something about it. I just wanted to share it and sorry for my English . [link] [comments] |

I just want to drop in and say that Apple’s News app is fantastic and deserves more recognition. Posted: 02 Jun 2018 07:09 AM PDT I can't speak for any other News App competition, but I am in love with the iOS News App. I never thought I would ever be able to replace Flipboard back in the day! Edit: Not saying it's perfect by any means. But it's very solid IMO [link] [comments] |
The video EverythingApplePro made yesterday showing off the leaked ios 12 features was fake. Posted: 02 Jun 2018 07:27 AM PDT He deleted the video and made a new one where he apologizes and says the video was obviously faked. Posted: 02 Jun 2018 08:31 PM PDT This was mentioned by two former employees at Apple on the Debug podcast, Nitin Ganatra and Don Melton. I don't remember the exact moment since the podcast episodes are long and there are no transcripts. [link] [comments] |
Why is Apple News on Mac such a big deal that people seem to be getting overly hyped about? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 11:55 AM PDT Before anyone says anything, I currently am using an Android so idk anything about the news app on iOS. I mean, it's just a news app right? Don't we already have like hundreds of them? [link] [comments] |

I got one of the new GE Homekit-enabled Window ACs Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:16 PM PDT I got one of the recently announced Homekit AC from GE. I specifically got the AEC12AX one (12K BTU) for $360 + plus tax. After installing the AC, I paired it up with the app (updated with iPhone X support by the way), and I was able to control the AC with the app just fine. The AC had a software update ready to go when the setup was complete. It took about 3-5 minutes to update. The app doesn't link the AC to Homekit automatically like the LIFX app or Hue. The app doesn't ask to see your Home data at all. This means that you have to set it up manually on the Home app. The code will be on the right side of the unit just below the Wi-Fi info (used to set it with the app). Once added to Homekit, the Home app will show you the room's current temperature in a circle, and the set temperature of the AC in a text string just below the name. The circle's background color will change to blue when the AC is on, but the desire temperature hasn't been reached. When it reaches the set temperature, or goes below it, the background turns green. Tapping on the AC's tile won't turn it off, like a light. Instead, you have to force touch it (or hold it for a second or two) and tap on "Mode" to bring this switch. Sliding it down will turn it off. The up position sets the AC to Cool. The temperature can be changed the same way, but instead tap "Temp" to bring this slider. Homekit control works the same, if not faster than the app. The AC is super responsive from what I've tried. Siri is great at controlling the AC. My only issue is that Apple calls an AC that's turned on "Cool" (as shown in the mode screenshot). Telling Siri to "Turn on Bedroom AC" will make Siri say that she isn't able to do that. Saying "Cool the bedroom" will actually turn on the AC. Saying "Turn off the Bedroom AC" will work as expected as it is a mode in Homekit. Siri can also tell you the current temperature of your rooms Seeing how these are the first Homekit AC units out, I feel like Apple didn't prepare well enough the Home app for them. I really hope Apple expands functionalities such as setting the Fan speed in Homekit, or setting the Mode to something other than Cool, like on Energy Saver mode or Fan Only mode. Apple also should enable Homekit users to set/create automations via Siri, so you can say something like "Turn off Bedroom AC at X:Y AM/PM" Bonus screenshot of Home app status. Really excited about this AC. Anyone else got one? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jun 2018 11:39 AM PDT Is there any way to display the album art for whatever is "Now Playing"? Ideally, I'd like that as a Watch face option, but at this point I'd just be happy to view my Now Playing album art at all. Whenever I tap the title of the song, it just takes me to the music app, and I can sorta see the art behind the controls. Is there a Watch face that shows the album art? [link] [comments] |

Apple accused me for modifying the hardware and void the warranty Posted: 02 Jun 2018 09:36 PM PDT I have bought iPhone X 256GB in late November 2017. It was working fine. Suddenly, it stopped working (turning on) before 2 weeks. So, I had a word with Apple chat and tried troubleshooting as said. Finally, I took it to the Apple service center and after a week I got an update that I have tampered/modified the phone hardware so warranty cannot be claimed. I have never tried to modify/tampered my phone and why should I, it's a new phone. Later, they asked me to pay the amount approximate to buy a new iPhone X and they will replace or asked me to take it back the dead phone. I called Apple customer support and even they was unable to help and asked me to have a repair with third-party or sell that phone, so I can get few bucks. I also tried to connect with Apple Support on Twitter, even they refused. I'm very much frustrated and disappointed from Apple. What should I do in this scenario? ====Guys, I've replied to your comments. I'm not sure why is it not showing up==== [link] [comments] |
What stylus/pencil would work on the IPad 2017 (5th generation) 9.7inc ? Posted: 03 Jun 2018 12:51 AM PDT I was recommended the one by Bamboo and it didn't work. I googled about the Apple Pencil and it said that only works on IPad Pro or the IPad 2018 6th generation. I found this and it says it works on all touch screens. Would this work on IPad 2017?
