Steam Link App for iOS Rejected by Apple Posted: 24 May 2018 04:00 PM PDT Steam Link App for iOS Rejected by Apple On Monday, May 7th, Apple approved the Steam Link app for release. On Weds, May 9th, Valve released news of the app. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team. Valve appealed, explaining the Steam Link app simply functions as a LAN-based remote desktop similar to numerous remote desktop applications already available on the App Store. Ultimately, that appeal was denied leaving the Steam Link app for iOS blocked from release. The team here spent many hours on this project and the approval process, so we're clearly disappointed. But we hope Apple will reconsider in the future. [link] [comments] |
iPhone X is my ultimate unwanted screenshot machine Posted: 24 May 2018 04:32 AM PDT Hey there! Is it just me or the location of the power button vs. volume up button (combination of these two results in a screenshot) is so unfortunate that I end up with several unwanted screenshots every day? It feels kinda natural for my fingers to oppose pressing the power button with pressing the volume up and vice versa. Great device otherwise though! Edit: thank you for the gold kind stranger! Now I need to take a screenshot of it :-) [link] [comments] |
Do NOT ask Apple for a copy of the privacy data they have on you... Posted: 24 May 2018 08:03 AM PDT Otherwise you'll be forced to add up your iTunes purchase history amount and come to a realization you have spent $24,751.47 since 2006... [link] [comments] |

iPhone found after months of being buried in snow. Help reunite it with the owner! Posted: 24 May 2018 07:46 PM PDT My brother works for Aspen Mountain in Colorado. Now that the snow is melting, he came across an iPhone that seems to have been buried since February. He'd love to reunite it with the owner as I'm sure there are photos and info that they'd like to have. Here's what we know: -found underneath the Ajax Express chairlift on Aspen Mountain -date that the phone read when turned back on was Feb 23, 2018 -medical info section on iOS reads the name J.M. Hatfield -type of iPhone and case color/brand being withheld to allow owner to ID (in addition to an actual ID) to prove ownership Let's try and get it back to the owner! [link] [comments] |

How is your pair of AirPods after 1 year of use? Posted: 24 May 2018 08:32 AM PDT I'm thinking of buying AirPods if I can sell a giftcard I won today. What i'm wondering about is generally how they are after around a year of use. Has the battery degraded as they do with phones? Is the case easy to clean? How is the case holding up, wear and tear... Thanks for doing me a solid Apple Posted: 24 May 2018 06:58 PM PDT Apple really had my back recently. I've been buying iPhones and Apple products since 2011. They've always had top tier customer service imo. But recently they went like totally above and beyond. I had a Series 2 Edition, no Apple care (I'll never not get Apple Care again). You'd think after so many years I'd LEARN but I didn't. This was actually the first time I didn't get it for a product because I'd never really used it prior! Anyway, the waterproof seal fell out of my Digital Crown. Took it to Apple and they waved the $800.00 service fee. Then they sent me a brand new watch for free. After speaking to a rep on the phone they told me I'd be getting a band with the watch. I was like cool! When I went to pick up my device there was no band but I wasn't really disappointed because hey! they just replaced my watch! The sales rep said "I'd just give them a call and I bet they'll help you out". Called and ended up speaking with this awesome rep on tech support who transferred me to a customer relations person. They were like "Typically we don't send a band, but since you were told you'd receive one, we will send you one free of charge on us". I'm like "WOW! Are you sure?" And she's like "Totally". So now they're sending me a replacement ceramic cloud sports band too. I was really impressed with the level of customer support I received! So aside from just replacing my items I just want to thank you guys at Apple for always being really kind on the phone even when I have ridiculous or minuscule issues and always keeping it together at work. I'm sure you guys get thousands of the same calls all day and we are all human here, but you guys have never failed me. THANK YOU. [link] [comments] |
Siri can parse requests for certain tasks within apps! Posted: 24 May 2018 03:39 PM PDT I was digging through all sorts of menus and the lock screen version of Wallet to try to figure out how to remove some old store loyalty cards. Finally, I decided to just search for the solution online, so I summoned Siri and asked "How to remove Apple Wallet cards", which surprisingly launched the Wallet app where I could easily remove the cards from the "Passbook". I was surprised that it didn't just do a web search, as I had asked it in the form of a question/how-to. Pretty neat! I wonder what other features this type of behavior works for. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 May 2018 04:45 AM PDT The developers of several popular third party Twitter clients Talon, Tweetbot, Tweetings, Twitterific have jointly created a website to announce their views. A previous dicussion can be found here. Quick summery: The old API will be deprecated on August 16th 2018. The free tier solution allows you to retrieve the timeline of 15 Twitter users. Their pricing plan can be found here (image).
When the old API is deprecated and a solution is not found it will be the death of many Twitter apps and projects. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 May 2018 05:21 PM PDT I just received a landline call (home phone) from Apple Support, saying that my iCloud account was breached, and to press 1 to continue. I was wondering if this is a legit call, or if it's nothing. My vote is leaning towards no, but I still have doubts. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

iPhone x photos grainy/low resolution Posted: 24 May 2018 10:41 AM PDT When I take photos on my iPhone X, I feel like they are very low quality when you start zooming, compared to what I see online. This picture of my dog gets VERY grainy and blurry when you zoom in, which I find very odd. I'd even go as far as to say my old OnePlus 3 did better (besides the auto focus). Am I just not familiar of how to use the camera? This is just a standard Portrait image, with no edit besides the auto-HDR. [link] [comments] |

Found a beige Power Macintosh G3 in a storage closet at my school. Posted: 24 May 2018 09:24 AM PDT Today in my orchestra class, we decided to do sectionals due to the absence of some students (it's exam season). Since the chorus room was already being used, the orchestra director ushered us (the violists) into a storage closet where we could do the sectional. This is what I found inside. Edit: The display is a Multiple Scan 720. [link] [comments] |
