Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:41 PM PDT Hi all, I'm looking for some suggestions here. I just became the owner of an iPad 4th gen, I made the mistake of buying it off Facebook. When I got it home and started looking it over I found that the silence button and the home button are both stuck. The home button functions but i have to press quite hard and it doesn't click in except for the very top of it. It LOOKS like maybe they took it to a local repair shop and they replaced the screen and got glue in places they shouldn't have... there is a bit of glue all around the bezel. So my question is, can I fix this? Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't take it back as the person stopped responding so I am stuck with it and want to make the best of it, any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Notability users: Anyone managing their life (projects, tasks, etc) using the app and nothing else? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:17 AM PDT I'm thinking about turning Notability into my 1-stop shop productivity system. Curious to hear if anyone else is doing this, and what your setup looks like. Thanks. Ipad Pro 12.9 (2015) battery life Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:51 AM PDT Hey Reddit, I recently got my hands on a used 2015 iPad Pro 12.9 after my iPad 3 is now nearly unusable and pretty slo. So far I am quite happy with the 12.9 but I was wondering how often you need to recharge your iPad. Without heavy use(watching a youtube/video or browing reddit) my iPad 3 would lasts weeks whereas I have to recharge my Pro almost everyday after doing the same. Now I'm wondering ifthis normal due to it's size or should I think about getting my battery switched? [link] [comments]

App to read PDFs from Dropbox? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 02:06 PM PDT I have a need that seems so completely obvious and universal that I assumed that it would be trivial to find a way to fill it, but I am having a surprising amount of trouble. I want to be able to read PDFs out of my Dropbox folder on my iPad. I have two simple and obvious additional requirements: 1. The app should keep my place in the document between invocations (some PDFs are long!) 2. There should be a minimum of graphical distractions added to the page The PDF reader in Dropbox's app fails number 1. The apps Documents and PDF Expert (which are by the same company) fail number 2 (document links are outlined in electric green and the preference to turn that off doesn't work) and fail number 1 unless you go through a bunch of rigamarole. Surely there is an app that does this simple and obviously desirable thing? [link] [comments]
Recently inherited an ancient iPad...what can I do with it? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:54 AM PDT Hi guys, First time iPad "owner" here. My laptop is in the shop, so my boyfriend is lending me his old iPad (not sure what version, maybe the 2 or 3) until it gets fixed. I know Apple stopped supporting it after 9.3.5 and most apps in the app store require iOS 10. I'm able to use the apps that are already on there, but can't download new ones. It still runs well and the battery life is pretty insane. Is there anything I can do with it or any tips you guys have or would it serve better as a doorstop at this point? (Joking!) TIA. :) Edit: Not really into the idea of jailbreaking it to upgrade it to iOS 11, because if it will make it run poorly, what's the point? [link] [comments]
iPad (2018) for occasional drawing? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 07:18 AM PDT I'm curious what people who have the new iPad think of drawing on it, especially how it compares to the iPad Pro. My main uses for the iPad are pretty lightweight - looking at pdfs, cooking recipes, instagram, etc - so I was thinking about getting the new iPad since it would work nicely. I'm no longer in school and can't use it at work, so this definitely will never be a computer replacement for me or anything like that. So I think for most things a Pro would be overkill. However, the one thing that I'm not sure about is I think it would be nice to use an iPad as a sketchbook, to minimize the number of things in my bag when I travel. This would only be occasional (my normal drawing workflow is using a Wacom tablet with a desktop and I don't have any desire to replace that), so I'm wondering if the iPad is good enough or if is worth it to pay the extra for the Pro (and possibly waiting for new ones to be announced). I've been watching a few YouTube reviews, but I didn't find any ones that did direct comparisons. Also, if I go to the Apple store, does anybody know if they might have drawing apps on the iPads that I could play with? [link] [comments]
How are business executives using the iPad? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:49 AM PDT There are a lot of posts on this reddit discussing how students are using the iPad to help with their studies, but there aren't that many posts on how business people are using the iPad to get their work done. I would love to start a post for business people to share their experience in using the iPad in a corporate business environment. I am trying to move away from the massive amount of paper that I generate. To date, I am using the iPad for note taking and email , but I still haven't found the perfect system. For note taking, I have been going back and forth between Noteability and OneNote. I use the apple email client for both my work email and personal gmail account. I would love to discuss with you here how to better use the iPad for business. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:16 AM PDT I want a tablet for taking notes for mt college classes. I don't do much gaming, but I do want to get into drawing. I currently have the iPad 3, but it is over 4 years old now and was never good for drawing/taking notes. I also have never used any iOS over 9.4. I want to get the new iPad, but before I do, does anyone know of any other tablets run on android that even come close to the iPad? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:02 PM PDT I just got a new iPad Pro 10.5 (upgrade from iPad 2 — not Air 2, just 2), fully updated iOS, and ran into an interesting problem today. I was in a meeting using some online meeting app (similar in concept to WebEx), and mid-meeting I got a text message. So, I turned on DND, which is set to always silent (vs silent when locked) and allow calls from nobody. Anyhow, a few minutes later I get another text message — it comes through. Anoying, but not the end of the world. A few minutes later I got a phone call (WiFi calling), it rings, interrupting my meeting. I hit the red reject button (at which point I go to settings to double check that DND is on and set correctly) and go back to my meeting, and a few minutes later I get a FaceTime video call, also interrupting my meeting. Am I misunderstanding something about DND on the iPad vs the iPhone? Is this a bug in DND mode? Any idea why it kept interrupting me? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 09:09 PM PDT Hey artists— I'm a motion graphic animator/designer and although I mostly work in After Effects (and some Cinema 4D) on Mac, sometimes I need to make rudimentary drawings of storyboards and designs. What apps do you use to draw, how big are the canvases you use (assuming not vector files), and how big are you iPad Pro files? [link] [comments]
10.5” or 12.9” as Secondary Device Posted: 11 Apr 2018 10:10 PM PDT I currently am going to college and own a MBP 15" w/ TouchBar and was looking into the IPad Pro series to be my primary note taking device. Would you guys recommend the smaller pro version or the 12.9 if I am mostly using the iPad to just take notes and maybe occaisonal Netflix/social media? [link] [comments]
How is your Apple Smart Keyboard holding up? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 01:49 AM PDT Asking this because I've had mine for more than a year, and it's starting to show significant signs of wear and tear, especially on the front cover. It's a shame cos I really love using the ASK and it's one of the reasons why I genuinely think the iPad Pro is a great device. However, unlike an ordinary case, this isn't exactly cheap to replace. duet display pen sensitivity for after effects cc 2015 onwards and cinema 4D Posted: 12 Apr 2018 01:34 AM PDT Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has any experience using the ipad pro as an extended display with the Duet Display app for after effects and cinema 4D on windows 10 and if the pen sensitivity works? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Looking for best third party ‘Smart Case’ for iPad Mini 4 Posted: 11 Apr 2018 10:08 PM PDT Still surprised Apple never made an official smart case for the mini 4. So my question is, what's the best third party case that comes the closest to apples style/quality? Or is there a good combination of third party case and the official Smart Cover? Thank you for any suggestions! [link] [comments]
Any photographers use an iPad Pro as their only device? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 04:51 PM PDT Only reason I need a laptop is for Lightroom. I don't mind switching applications but the way it handles my files works quite well for me. Currently I have very little saved on my MacBook ssd. I've moved most of what I have to cloud storage. However for my photography I import from the SD card to Lightroom straight onto an external HDD. My catalogs and presets are stored on the SSD but all of my photos are stored externally. How does the iPad handle importing raw files? How will I manage to store all of my raws externally? Would there be any way to transfer everything off my external hard drive so it complies with this kind of workflow? Basically is it feasible to completely switch to an iPad Pro? I would benefit more from the portability and pencil support than I would a traditional MacBook, as the only piece of software that I use that isn't available is Lightroom Classic. iPad pro- productivity - Microsoft alternative that works well with Microsoft.. Posted: 11 Apr 2018 07:23 PM PDT iPad pro 10.5 with pencil and smart keyboard I am trying to become more iPad focused so I don't have to bring both my iPad and my laptop when I travel. I can do 90% on my iPad but bring laptop as a just in case... I use Microsoft at work and everyone I work with uses it. Is there a free alternative on the iPad that is a good app itself, and the documents/spreadsheets/PowerPoint slides work well when I send my work to others?? [link] [comments]
Writing on PowerPoint with iPad air 2? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 07:33 PM PDT Hi there I am a college student majoring in bio and I want to know If it is possible to write on powerpoints ( writing as in using a stylus to mark up things ) on an ipad air 2. The reason being is that in classes like organic chemistry I need to draw molecules into the notes. If this is possible, what apps could I do this with? [link] [comments] |
