Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - April 30, 2018

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 09:09 PM PDT

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" to see the newest posts.

CLICKPOCALYPSE II: An idle RPG that I wrote

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 08:05 AM PDT

    Hey everybody,

A while back I wrote an idle/incremental RPG for the web called CLICKPOCALYPSE II and then later ported it over to mobile.

I released it to both Android and iOS, and the Android version really took off, but the iOS version has basically been ignored. I think it must have just gotten lost in the ocean of other games out there.

The graphics in the game are a bit ugly, but I think the gameplay is pretty fun. You create a party of adventurers and then send them on their way. Of their own accord, they go off and start exploring dungeons. They kill monsters and grab loot. You are responsible for equipping items, leveling them up, choosing skills, and handing other various upgrades.

The core concept is that playing RPGs can be very time consuming. Most people just don't have enough free time to grind dungeons, but does that mean they shouldn't get to go up some levels and find awesome loot? In this game, the grinding is done for you, and you just do the high level stuff. So you go to work, go to sleep, watch tv, etc, then pop open the game and equip some upgrades. Then you go on with your day.

Let me know what you think!

Disclaimer: I saw the rule about self promotion. My game is completely free and has no IAP, so I'm wondering if that would make it OK? Mods, please feel free to nuke my post if you think I've crossed the line.

    Cheers, Jim

PS. I'm not actively working on this game anymore. I'm busily working on a new RPG (one that isn't idle).

    Anybody play SkidStorm?

Saw this game on the App Store. Looks fun. Anybody play it? Is it one of those riddled with IAPs and is P2W like other free racing games?

I wanted to make a video on an iOS game which had its servers closed. Having it still installed, is there any way I can get into it to get gameplay footage?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2018 06:18 AM PDT

Bloodmasque was an iOS game published by Square Enix where you played as a vampire hunter trying to liberate an alternate Paris from vampiric oppression. The game's namesake was a feature where you could take a picture of your face and the game would map it over the character's face, thus it being a "Masque". I liked and played it a bunch, but unfortunately Square shut the servers down in December 2014.

Despite the game's short lifespan, I wanted to make a video on what was good about it and what ultimately might have been its downfall, but not only are gameplay videos few, they probably wouldn't do a very good job of helping me illustrate my points, and thus I turn to reddit to find out if there's any way I could get into the game and get some footage. I still have it installed, so getting around it not being on the app store anymore isn't an issue.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Emulators for classic gaming systems on iPad Pro Gen 2?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 05:37 PM PDT

Can't say i'm super great with iOS, I use my iPad for media consumption and it's great at that. If I could get retro games running on my Ipad i'd be in heaven. Talking 16 bit and back mostly. Do I need to jail break to be able to run emulators on my Gen 2 Pro?

Hi, anyone else experiencing performance issues? iPhone X here, Italy.

I remember i downloaded the game when it was launched and ran super smooth. Played again today and stutters every now and then, near the end of a match it was really laggy (good fps, but some stutter)

Free games similar to Bit City or Tap Tap Fish?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2018 11:10 AM PDT

Hi! So I'm looking for games that don't require a lot from me or my time. I just want a game I can leave for a while and it will keep playing on the background and advancing without me having to check it out so often.

I really into management style games (time management too) and just overall idle games. I tried the rest of the games from this company (Tiny Tower, Disco Zoo, Pocket Planes and Pocket Trains) but none really stuck except for Tiny Towers (which got frustrating after only the 11th or so floor) and Pocket Trains (I loved the idea but I hated some aspects of the game like the fuel thing).

I have heard a lot of suggestions for Kairosoft games and they seem right in my alley but the free versions are not complete apparently.

I am already waiting for Pocket City -- looks right up my alley. But I want other options I can play now.

    I have an iPad pro.

    Thanks a lot.
