Realistically, what’s the highest version I can use on a 2012 MBP? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 06:17 PM PDT Ideally, I don't want to slow my MBP down. I'm also curious what "must-have" features of the OS won't be available on a 6-year old MBP. Or if there's a web resource I've failed to locate, that's fine too. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Wrong YouTube titles but correct caption and link on safari Posted: 11 Apr 2018 05:19 PM PDT Hey, first time I post in this forum. I'm using the latest version of macOS on the new MacBook Pro. The video title does not match with the thumbnail and link when I browse on the YouTube front page. Like when I click on the link the correct title and video come up. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? [link] [comments]
Hide translation programs on my Mac Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:19 AM PDT Is it possible to "hide" a translation program? Apparently my school will perform a short "test: of sorts to try to find any translation programs on my computer. Does anyone know of a way to possibly hide a program from being discovered by such a test? [link] [comments]

Spotlight Re-indexing broken (10.13.4) Posted: 11 Apr 2018 01:44 PM PDT So I recently decided to get rid of unnecessary apps and switch from Alfred back to Spotlight. In the process, I realized that my spotlight search was completely broken, in the sense that it cannot find most of my files or applications (only my Downloads folder and the files in it are found). I tried re-indexing (via system preferences->spotlight->adding the disk to the privacy list, via terminal, and via cleanmymac) but nothing worked. I've run first aid to check disk permissions and that shows everything is good to go. I also created a new admin user and checked spotlight there and it did work, so I'm not entirely sure what the issue is for my main account. Any ideas? UPDATE: Tried deleting the spotlight hidden folder (.Spotlight-V100) in root and reindexing. Still didn't work. UPDATE 2 (FIX): I deleted com.apple.Spotlight.plist from ~/Library/Preferences, logged out, then logged back in. Problem solved. [link] [comments]
Lost my second USB hub after 10.13.4 Update Posted: 11 Apr 2018 12:23 PM PDT I have 2 x USB 3.0 hubs plugged into either side of my 15" Mid 2014 Macbook Pro. After updating to MacOS 10.13.4 from 10.13.3, my system will no longer detect any of the USB devices in my second hub, but they will fine if any of them are plugged directly into the USB port. Anyone else experiencing this? [link] [comments]
What application to use on the Mac to get breaking news about a certain story? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 03:10 PM PDT I am not interested by all breaking news, I just want to receive the latest (and important) breaking news about one story. Is there an app that provides such a features? If there's none, is there one for the iPhone? [link] [comments]
