Apple needs to add another move ring, like a "stretch goal" to encourage having some days more active than others

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:19 AM PDT

The current problem, as I see it, is that the Watch seems to favor a healthy daily lifestyle but doesn't really encourage you to shoot higher some days of the week.

For example; I commute to work, by bicycle, about 25 miles a day (Monday through Friday). That's obviously a big chunk of a daily move goal and an equally big chunk of time (about 1.5 hours of activity on those days). I work it into my weekday schedule because commuting is part of life, but it's really difficult to carve out that same space on the weekend. Not to mention that it's good to rest some days anyway.

Even on the days I'm biking, I still try to get some extra exercise in, so I have my move goal set to 1000 calories a day. But I'll only hit that on 5-6 days of the week. Not to say I'm lazy on the weekend, it's just that my caloric expenditure varies pretty wildly compared to weekdays.

So what's the solution if I want to close my rings every day? Right now I'd have to set my move goal to something much lower where I'm basically meeting that goal 7 days a week, but exceeding that goal (by two or three times) on 5 days of the week... which seems a little backwards in terms of actually challenging myself to do more. I think a 4th type of "challenge/stretch" ring would work really well for that type of situation.

On a side note -- being able to answer calls with the Watch while biking is truly amazing. One of my favorite parts of the AW experience.

    Apple Watch 1 (7000 Series)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:18 AM PDT

Hi guys I am new to fitness watches and have eyed Apple watch for ages. Recently got a fitbit blaze but today i got an offer from a friend for apple watch series 1.

Knowing that there's multiple versions of apple watch, is the series 1 still worth the money or is it a really old tech as compared to series 3. Series 3 is around $500 and I have a chance to get series 1 for $230 which is within my budget but I'm concerned in these areas:

How is the heart rate tracker ? Im into weightlifting and I have to say my fitbit does pretty well on my heart rate but I've been always been a fan of apple watch but am concerned if the performance would be lower than my fitbit blaze.

How is the series 1 vs 3 in terms of customisation?

I see people with super nice straps and wallpapers are those possible on both devices?

I dont earn much but I'd love to pamper myself should I pull the trigger and jump on Apple Watch series 1?

TIL you can unlock your Apple watch by unlocking your iPhone.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:15 AM PDT

So I generally wake up and end up entering the passcode for the Apple watch every time. Today I wore my watch and left it on my wrist without unlocking and started using my iPhone. When I put my phone away, I noticed that the watch was unlocked. Weird. I tried it again, this time, consciously and it worked! I could use my fingerprint on my iPhone to unlock my watch!

Apple Watch Series 3 making high pitch noise?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 05:08 AM PDT

I just got my watch (series 3 GPS+Cellular) about a week ago so I haven't learned much about it yet, but I had my head resting on my hand and could hear a very high pitch noise. Soon I realized it's coming from my Apple Watch? I googled it and people seemed to say it happened to them when it was charging but this is just while it's on my wrist and I'm not even using it. It's very faint but definitely there. I've restarted it but the noise came right back. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe I missed a post on it but I tried searching reddit and didn't see anything.

Duplicate Data in 'Steps' - Remove iPhone as Source?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 01:57 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I was just browsing through the Health app today and it looks like Steps is receiving duplicative data. This screenshot shows what I am talking about.

Do people commonly remove their iPhone as a source to prevent this?

Only things not restricted socks and watch bands...

Going to start working for a company that has a strict dress code soon. Black shoes, black slacks and belt, grey or red shirt. I'll be Westinghouse that every day. But my watch band... What kind of bands would you wear to express individuality among the minions?

Apple Watch responsive to touch, but screen stays dark - What to do? (VoiceOver is disabled)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 12:50 AM PDT

Hey there, I bought my brand new Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) around 4 or 5 days ago. I was really happy with it, until yesterday. I was out with some of my friends and came back home for 5 minutes to leave my phone charging. Apple Watch was working fine then. As soon as I left the house, I wanted to check the time by raising the Watch, but the screen was black. I tried tapping on it, but it didn't light up at all. I could hear notifications popping up on the Watch and I could even interact with it (it was touch-responsive), but whatever I did, the screen stayed black, as if it was off.

Apple Watch was completely undamaged (never had contact with water and never fell to the ground).

I tried everything I could find regarding that issue on the internet (like, checking if VoiceOver is enabled, Force Restarting, set it up from scratch), but yet, no solution.

I hope you guys can help me out here. The next apple store is kinda far away from here.

Debating on buying an apple watch

    Posted: 24 Mar 2018 03:01 PM PDT

So I'm a diesel mechanic so I'm working in tight spaces and around hard objects I was wondering if it's even be work getting one if it's just gonna break.

Any fellow mechanics out there with an apple watch? What's your experience been like?

Activity App and Health App Connectivity?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2018 09:21 PM PDT

    I'm befuddled.

Forgot to wear my watch today, and was out running around all day. So, now an activity streak appears to be on the verge of being dead.

I had my phone with me all day, and can clearly see in the Health app that I had about 7600 steps, 3 miles walked, and 1200 kcal burned of activity.

Yet, the Activity app shows a big fat zero for activity, standing, and exercise.

What gives? Don't these apps talk to each other?

I can't seem to import data from one to the other either. And, can't seem to enter the data manually in the Activity app.

Seems kind of dumb these two apps can't talk to each other. There must be some integration I'm missing?

    Best Weather app

I know that the average response to this would either be Dark Sky or Carrot Weather, but I'm looking for something that's practical, accurate and nice to look at.

    Sleep tracking app crashes

    Posted: 24 Mar 2018 04:56 PM PDT

The sleep tracking app on my watch call Pillow suddenly started crashing last night. I tried to reinstall the app on my phone and even factory-reseted the watch, but it still crashes. Any idea on how to solve it? Thanks in advance!
