| Is anyone having any luck with Dolby Vision over HDMI on an Apple TV 4K now that tvOS 11.3 is out? Posted: 30 Mar 2018 08:42 PM PDT I have a Sony XBR55X930e and an AppleTV 4K and I'm trying to get Dolby Vision running at 60hz. It'll work at 30hz and HDR10 will work at 60hz, but whenever I try to use Chroma 4:2:2 or Dolby Vision at 60hz after maybe 20 minutes of use it'll just cut into static, go black, then show static and continue alternating that. What's interesting is if I go to the settings and turn on "Enhanced signal format" it will work for a few seconds again and then go back to cycling static and a black screen. I have a video of the problem I wish I could share in here. I have tried three HDMI cables that all support 18gbps. I'm at a total loss and so bummed out about this. Any suggestions? | Posted: 30 Mar 2018 10:51 AM PDT Well I haven't tried it yet, but I do see in the Plex forums that MrMC has released an official version with Plex for Kodi addon included! You can now use the Kodi player instead of the built in Apple TV player and get that sweet sweet lossless audio (decoded to PCM 7.1). I'm excited because I just purchased a Shield yesterday. While the playback is really smooth on the Shield, I'm just not happy with the interface and the available apps. The apps just feel like blown up Phone / Tablet apps. Not elegant at all. These are all movies I have either purchased directly from iTunes or used the digital code in a purchased Blu-ray. Some of the movies do not play in 4K HDR on my Apple TV, though. Wouldn't the list in the TV app only show the ones that I actually own in 4K HDR? For example, The Dark Knight. I own the Blu-ray so I know I used the code to get it in iTunes. It shows up under the Watch in HDR section but it only plays in HD for me. Other movies, like E.T., which I also purchased on Blu-ray, DO play in 4K HDR though. I'm confused. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Wait for Vudu app update or get roku plus series Posted: 30 Mar 2018 11:19 AM PDT Sorry to run this topic into the ground, I understand no one can predict the future, but it seems Vudu has been working on releasing uhd compatible app for Apple TV for quite sometime now, and just curious if anyone has seen any hint of this coming out anytime soon, or if it's just better to get a Roku streaming device that does support her on Vudu for those movies specifically. I have a lot of disney owned movies I'd like to watch in uhd, and I can get a refurbished Roku premiere plus for $60, but would rather not if the app is supposed to be updated soon. | Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:23 AM PDT Hello all. Just a query that I'm having if anyone can help me out. ATV 4K and Sony TV 4K HDR. I have a good fit on the screen. But when I go to see something, videos bought are displayed with bars on top and bottom. OK.. I thought its the "panasivion" and so on. But on YouTube app, the content appears like that also. I mean, the same video of YouTube that I see on the ATV, I can see on an Android TV box and the content ratio is different. When I plug in the HDMI cable, the TV "locks" the settings for the aspect ratio for some reason. I tried several HDMI ports and the only that "locks" is the ATV one. Can find anything that can help on this one after doing some research... Any input would be awesome! Thanks! [link] [comments]  | ||
