Help removing a virus from a MacBook Air Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:06 PM PDT My sister got a virus on her macbook air. iPhone Music app "Unknown Album" issue Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:46 PM PDT Posting this again. Today i updated my iPhone X to iOS 11.3. When syncing my music library to my phone i noticed all of the songs in every artists "Unknown Album" section are now broken up into individual albums, instead of all the songs being in one. It now looks like this https://imgur.com/a/gBYCk I then updated the iTunes on my 2015 MacBook Pro to 12.7.4 hoping it would fix it but still the same. I don't use Apple Music, all my music is downloaded to my computer and synced to my phone. This has to have something to with the update no? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to fix it? Thank you. [link] [comments] |

A bothersome issue regarding screen transition during wake-up process. Need help! Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:44 PM PDT As the title says. I just got my new 13" MacBook 2017 NTB 2 days ago and noticed that whenever it wakes up from sleep/ or just when the screen lights itself up when the lid is opened, the screen just appear(turns immediately from black to the login page or etc.) with no smooth gradual fading from black screen to whatever it intends to display. I have used the same version of MacBook with the similar macOS version before and all of them have that nice fading in transition. Yes. I am aware that this is really a small nit-picking issue but it's been bothering me, you know, aesthetically. Any suggestions? Is it a software issue? It should be, right? What I have tried: - Restart the machine - Resetting NVRAM [link] [comments] |
Missing albums from iTunes library Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:11 PM PDT I had an iPod about a year ago, I'm not sure what model it was but was the newest at the time and hot pink. I purchased a few albums on it from the iTunes store. I don't have the iPod anymore but I got an iPad that I'm trying to put my music on and now I'm not seeing those albums in my library. I would really appreciate if anyone knows how to fix this, I would rather not have to pay for them again. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Messages keeps asking for password Posted: 31 Mar 2018 11:22 AM PDT I've got a macbook air, iMac, and iPhone all synced through my iCloud account. Laptop and phone send imessages just fine. Imac however keeps asking for my password with the following prompt: "Talk.google.com Password" / "Messages can't log in to xxxx@gmail.com because your log-in ID or password is incorrect." I'll usually have to enter my password 3-4 times before I hear the logging in chime, at which point message acts normal for 10-15 minutes, then the prompt returns. If I hit cancel (avoiding entering password) message will still function (recipient gets the message) but the iMac message window will show the red circle "i" as if the messag was not sent. I've done some google troubleshooting but so far nothing has helped :/ All software is up to date. 2012 iMac. 2013 Macbook Air. Iphone 7. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:41 AM PDT I only have just below 6GB of free space on my 750GB HD and about 286GB of those is occupied by three picture libraries:
Now, I'm into photography and my pictures are my most valuable data; but a lot of the pictures are duplicates and I would like to find a way to just consolidate all of them into just one library and eliminate duplicates. I have a Linux box with plenty of space that I can access from my MacBook Pro; opening the iPhoto Library I found a Masters folders in which I suppose the original copies of my pictures are located, with the last year being 2016. I suppose the Photos Library Master folder starts on 2016 until this year and my guess is that I would find some overlap with the Masters in Aperture. I'm currently copying these Master folders to the Linux box and I plan to eliminate duplicates that way. Once I have taken care of that, is there a way that I can recreate just one library to be shared by iPhoto Library and Aperture? I love Aperture and even though is no longer supported and would like to keep using it. But my pictures are more valuable to me and I'm willing to sacrifice Aperture in order to preserve my library. Thinking of turning on iCloud photos—have a question first Posted: 31 Mar 2018 01:42 PM PDT As the title says, I'd like to turn on iCloud Photos and store all the photos on my Mac in iCloud. I have two reasons for doing this:
I understand that lower resolution copies of my photos can/will be stored on the Mac, iPhone, and iPad in order to save space, but...
Thanks for reading. I'd really appreciate some assistance with this, because I really want to turn it on, and I've read several articles about it, but I still don't know exactly what to expect. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:17 AM PDT In the Messages app, starting with the MacOS 10.13.4 upgrade it seems Apple removed the "AppleScript handler" option. Does anyone know of an alternative way to run a script when new messages are received? I am seriously considering going back to Adium (a program I haven't used for years) in the hope that it will let me play individual sounds for received messages that are different for different senders, which is how I was using the Applescript, even though it looks like Adium hasn't been updated in many months. The only protocol I am using now is XMPP (Google Talk and another XMPP server) so if there are any alternatives to the "AppleScript handler" option that is now MIA that would let me do custom sounds for received messages I would really like to know about them. EDIT: I had a long chat with Apple Support about this issue and the bottom line is that this is probably a bug, not an intentional removal of this feature, although the person I spoke to is still looking into it. It sounds like the more reports they get about a problem that occurs after a MacOS upgrade, the more likely they are to look into it, so if you are also missing this it would not hurt to contact Apple Support and let them know that you are experiencing this issue. If they are having trouble understanding what you are talking about, you can refer them to this page where someone posted screenshots showing the problem (not me; apparently anyone trying to post from my network is persona non grata at stackexchange, though I do not have the foggiest clue why): https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/318230/did-apple-remove-the-applescript-handler-option-in-macos-high-sierra In the meantime, I'm still open to any suggestions for working around this issue. 2010 MacBook Pro battery doubled in size Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:23 AM PDT My 2010 MacBook Pro 13" was plugged in overnight and in the morning the battery had swollen to almost double it's normal size. The battery expansion bent my track pad up to the point that the MacBook will no longer fully close and even the base looks swollen. It is currently powered down but I don't know what to do from here. I'm not worried about the data but I also don't want it to set my room on fire. What should I do? Thanks in advance! Macbook freezes for 5-10 minutes after being unplugged from power. Is there a fix? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 05:12 PM PDT In the last 3-4 months my early 2015 macbook 12 inch (with latest OS), has started freezing after being unplugged from a power supply. Then I wait 5-10 mins, and it works again. Has this happened to anyone else? And is this just because my laptop is getting old? [link] [comments] |
Unable to add MP3 Files from computer to phone Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:49 AM PDT Hello, Up until recently, I have always been able to add MP3 files on computer into my phone's library through iTunes by using the "add file to library" feature. However, suddenly, this no longer works, and the file does not get added. Even when I try to drag the MP3 file straight to my phone's folder on iTunes, I get a message saying, "some of the files were not copied because iCloud Music Library is enabled on this iPhone." This makes no sense because iCloud has always been enabled on my phone, and yet I have never had a problem before in adding MP3 files from the computer to my phone. I am signed into the same iCloud account on both my computer and phone. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I know I can probably just turn off iCloud temporarily on my phone, but I feel like that will erase a lot of things and mess up my library even if I turn it back on later. I just don't understand why I used to be able to transfer MP3 files to my phone even with iCloud on and now I suddenly can't. Thanks in advance. edit: sorry, don't know how to flair this post... Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:36 PM PDT When iOS 11.3 was released, I quickly updated my iPhone 8 Plus from 11.2.6.. Since the update, I have seen my battery drain much quicker when using applications, whether it be social media or be it Netflix or movies I bought on the iTunes Store. However, standby time has remained the same. Has anyone else experienced this issue? [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro keeps disconnecting from home WiFi Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:43 AM PDT I have a 2009 MacbookPro that keeps disconnecting from my home WiFi. I haven't tried it in other places yet, but I have other devices connected to my home WiFi that I don't have an issue with. Is it just too old? It was working fine up until a month or so ago. How to get Windows key to work as CMD key on El Capitan? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 01:49 PM PDT I have a 2015 Macbook Air running El Capitan 10.11.6. I have tried hooking up two different keyboards - a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard, and a Steelseries 6GV2 mechanical keyboard. However, the Windows key does not register as anything. I was with the understanding that it would map to the Command key. Yes, I downloaded the Mac software from here: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g15-keyboard/downloads But it still doesn't work - the software only lets me configure some of the "gaming" feaatures on the keyboard. Does changing the display resolution slow down my MacBook? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:04 PM PDT This may sound silly or dumb for some of you, but I bought a MacBook Pro and changed the display resolution to the biggest one, so I have more space on my desktop. Does this affect my MacBook in a bad way, and if so, in what way? Does it slow down my Mac or does it heat up way easier? I am a huge fan of the biggest resolution because I like the more space I have and the smaller font. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:05 AM PDT I'm a long-time Mac user who has just moved to a third-world country where Apple doesn't do business. I need to set up a Mac network for myself consisting of 1 Mac at home, 1 Mac at work, and 1 Mac as portable backup for meetings and travel and whatnot. The Mac Mini seems like a perfect low-cost solution for this: I can buy a cheap screen for home, a cheap screen for work, and carry the Mac Mini back and forth between them, then use an Air for portable backup. BUT I've never used a Mini and I don't really understand how it works. How does it connect to the WiFi? How do you back it up with an external hard drive? How do you update it? Does it interface with peripherals over WiFi (like the printer at work) as seamlessly as a standalone computer? Also, what happens when I plug the Mac Mini into another Mac that's already fully operational (with an OSx and apps installed and files on it and whatnot)? And what's the difference between a serial ATA drive and a Fusion drive? Answers and advice much appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Changing photo dates/location info on iCloud Photos Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:34 AM PDT I'm migrating all my photos in iCloud and want to arrange my photos by the date they were taken, not uploaded. iPod disabled, need the pictures Posted: 31 Mar 2018 10:27 AM PDT I found my old 6th gen iPod touch. I have forgotten the passcode and tried it so many times that it only says 'ipod disabled, connect to itunes.' Doesn't even let me try anymore. Anyways I have some pictures on there which were never synched with my itunes. I tried with both macs I have but with both it doesn't remember that they synced before. So now I'm kinda stuck. Is there a way to get the pictures back? Is there use bringing it to a help center? [link] [comments] |
Safari (on MacBook Pro) taking AGES before I am able to put something into the search bar..? Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:46 AM PDT Hey guys. I've got a problem when loading up my MacBook Pro and trying to search something into Safari because it's taking so long before it will actually send me to a webpage, even if I try clicking on a bookmark. I was wondering if there's any way of fixing this? Safari itself doesn't take long to load up, it's actually rather quick (I have 8GB of RAM). Mac OS is latest version, MacBook was bought a little over a year ago and is 13 inch mid-2012. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
