iPhone X is a beautiful device Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:16 PM PDT I pre-ordered the X at 12:01 am on October 27th of last year, opting for Space Grey 256 GB with AppleCare, a hefty investment. I wondered at the time if it was a mistake to get the first generation of a brand new form factor and set of technologies. I was just thinking today that Apple really nailed it with this phone. Other than the obvious iOS issues we have all been living through, the hardware itself has been flawless for me. The screen is gorgeous, Face ID works effortlessly, the integration with the rest of my Apple devices (including Airpods and Watch 2) is so easy I forget how magical it all is. This is the hardware standard that will set the bar for the next few years of devices. Well done Apple! edit: upgraded from 256 MB to 256 GB [link] [comments] |
I’d love a stock Apple Sports app Posted: 30 Mar 2018 01:19 PM PDT Like stocks, or news, I'd love for there to be a well-designed, non cluttered, clickbait-less stock sports app. Simple game recaps, live action to follow along with, and simple notifications. [link] [comments] |
*Knocks on Wood* iOS 11.3 seems to have fixed iMessages out of order Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:28 AM PDT I originally posted here how my iOS messages on 11.2 were out of order. 18 hours with the update and have yet to have the issue reoccur. Hopefully it's fixed for good! [link] [comments] |

iOS 11.3 brought back app update version numbers and file sizes! Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:42 PM PDT I don't know why they removed them in the first place, but I'm so glad they decided to bring them back to the Updates section of the App Store. [link] [comments] |

New Wallpapers from Education Event Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:46 PM PDT |
Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:03 AM PDT My battery has degraded to 79% "significantly degraded" according to the battery info in 11.3. Strangely enough though, it says my phone is running at "normal peak performance." Which I think might be true because after updating, my Siri responds a lot quicker and the phone feels smoother. Might get it replaced anyway. Video of performance change here. https://youtu.be/HxnAJJn5Xic Colour me impressed Anyone else seeing a difference? iPhone 6s [link] [comments] |
The best feature of Numbers iOS in the latest update Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:45 PM PDT Cells that use the NOW formula actually update to the current time upon opening the document, rather than having to perform some action like like double-tapping the cell, and pressing the green tick button. Anyone else notice MASSIVE speed up in ios 11.3? (7 Plus) Posted: 30 Mar 2018 12:38 PM PDT It seems like my 7+ is running snappy as hell, my battery is still at 100% because i got it in Sept 2017. Im really diggin this new update. [link] [comments] |
iOS 11.3 has fixed the issue of the Weather widget not updating automatically. Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:53 AM PDT On my iPhone X, this issue seems to have finally been solved. If anyone was having this issue before, I definitely recommend updating! Pretty satisfied with this update so far. [link] [comments] |
It would be amazing to get haptic feedback when typing on iOS. Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:21 AM PDT I cannot be the only one that hates the audio feedback when typing but would love to get the smooth haptic feedback (not the vibrating shit that has been on Android phones forever) when typing with the on-screen keyboard. EDIT: It would probably drain power a bit (or a lot) more. But given that that it would be an option to use I don't really see any drawbacks. [link] [comments] |

much better ram management after updating to 11.3. Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:53 AM PDT Well, I was on the beta and didn't notice it until one day when I decided to check. Yep, its much better, I have 5 apps ready to go that haven't been kicked from ram. [link] [comments] |
Can I just take a moment and appreciate ‘Memories’? Posted: 30 Mar 2018 09:32 AM PDT So, ever since I purchased my iPhone 7 Plus (came from an iPhone 6), I took advantage of the camera and started taking a lot more photos and definitely some more 'portrait' photos. About 6 times a year my whole family comes to visit, and for those few precious days I try and take as much photos as I can so I can savor these awesome moments later on in life. Each day would be big, we'd go out for about 7/8 hours just hanging out, eating and everything there is to do! And what I absolutely loved doing, is coming back home at the end of a tiring by lovely day and just so seamlessly looking back at the day using the memories feature. It's so god damn prefect, I've noticed some films having photos change on a beat of a song, and it all makes it's so much more lively. I really enjoy it. I especially enjoy making a collective film of the entire visit. I just really wanted to make this appreciation post, today I had a blast with my family, and memories makes me re-live it down the line of life. :D [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 01:16 AM PDT Hey guys. I just picked up a Logitech MX Master 2S mouse. I was wondering what some of the best button layouts were for workflow on a Mac. [link] [comments] |
Why Play Later doesn't make sense in iOS (with pictures) Posted: 30 Mar 2018 10:25 PM PDT I just want to demonstrate the difference between iOS and iTunes queue management. iTunes: Adding another song to the queue iOS: What's the point of using play later if it's gonna add the song after 9 other songs? The iOS implementation makes no sense to me and making a queue of >1 song at a time is incredibly inconvenient. For a user base that so values Apple's attention to detail, this feels like a dropped ball on Apple's part. Spotify also does queue management this way and iOS 9 used to. If it weren't for the ability of Apple Music to combine local and streamed songs into one library, I'd have switched to Spotify long ago. Music is my most used app so obviously this is annoying to me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:26 PM PDT I don't know about the rest of the world, but the way I predominately sort my music in playlists, is by time periods. I make a playlist every month, carrying over my favourites from the previous month and adding any new finds into the current month's playlist. The reason is, I don't want to sort my playlists by mood or genre, because it is hard to keep them all updated. When I have tried this in the past (e.g. having a set of playlists like Dance, Electronic, Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap), some songs end up only in one list when they may apply to a few. I inevitably end up just going back to the time period method. The time period method is also good for archiving songs I used to listen to and targeting points in time to 'take me back'. With this method, any time I want to listen to music, I just make a queue of songs matching my mood or desired genre/tempo/artist. It takes maybe 1-2 minutes every time I get in the car, start walking, go for a run, etc. It's not the end of the world, but I know there could be a better way. So here's what I would personally like to see in Apple Music: a tagging system. The end goal, for users like me, is being able to go into AM and selecting your parameters, and then you get a shuffled queue with songs you'll want to listen to, without having to think or spend time. Firstly, you would need a 'library'. I think this could work very easily, like Spotify. Add all the songs you like at present, and then when you get sick of a song, you archive it. Then, like Safari history, you could browse your archive and see what you were listening to in the past. Integrated synchronised play counting like last.fm would be great here. Then, the tags. You could have a few key automatic categories - speed, genre, era, region, popularity, etc. With the increased musical intelligence in AM that came with the HomePod, you could easily see how this could be great. A few examples: 'Popular R&B songs produced by Pharrell Williams from the 2000s' 'Upbeat French house from the 90s' 'Recent rock and alternative songs from Australia' Then, in place of playlists, you could have custom manual tags, e.g. 'Party', 'Instrumental', 'Chill', 'Driving', 'Sad' , 'Workout', etc More examples: 'Chill music I've added in the last 2 weeks' 'Party music from 2012' 'Downtempo sad music' 'Uptempo instrumental driving music' I guess the end result would be a little like a simpler and more intelligent Smart Playlists feature. Thoughts, questions, comments? Would this work better for anyone else? Am I a niche user? or maybe just crazy? 😂 [link] [comments] |
isn't Messages on iCloud a bad thing for privacy? Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:23 AM PDT as far as i'm aware, once something is uploaded to iCloud, apple has free reign to do whatever they want when cooperating with law enforcement. the whole purpose of messages was the encryption + security options on my iPhone. once i start using iCloud, i'm forfeiting that privacy for no real benefit. has apple stated anything about this or are chat logs just like all other icloud data? For anyone on iOS 11.3, how are custom keyboards so far? Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:39 PM PDT I used to love using gBoard and Swiftkey for swipe-typing but on iOS 11.1.2 they would just eventually crash more and more often until I was forced to go back to the stock keyboard. This has happened on pretty much any previous iOS as well. [link] [comments] |
