Apple get your shit together and fix the Facetime Audio Call Window on High Sierra Posted: 20 Jan 2018 01:29 PM PST This is so ridiculously frustrating to deal with. Before the High Sierra update I can freely move the small active call window around the screen and/or minimize it entirely, but that's no longer the case for no reason at all. I frequently use the call feature on my MacBook and now everytime I have to resize all my windows just to accomodate the uselessly obstructing active call window on the top right of the screen. This really is ridiculous and unacceptable. I know I'm not the only one dealing with this because I've seen plenty of complaints about the issue online and yet ZERO solution whatsoever. Get your shit together Apple, stop making your consumer-base regret downloading these software updates to begin with. It's been months now. [link] [comments]
macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 Beta 6 (17D46a) - Safari Javascript Engine Fixed Posted: 21 Jan 2018 01:45 AM PST Yesterday I read an article on 9to5mac saying that the 10.13.3 Beta 6 probably going to be the last public beta before the final because the update itself is larger than previous public beta. So today I spent my time trying to browse various website that was affected by the bug where javascript caused 100% cpu usage on Safari supplemental update about 2 weeks ago. This is pretty huge for me as I'm doing web design on the daily, having my MBP boiling over 70c every time I forgot to use Safari Technology Preview just to debug or design a website is quite tiring. Looking forward for the final 10.13.3 with most of the bug squashed and more performance improvement. I realised, macOS Sierra is better in terms of performance for most people, thou I never tried it before as I'm new to the ecosystem, my last Macintosh was on the Powerbook 165c. uBlock Origin in Safari: Let There Be Block Posted: 20 Jan 2018 06:10 AM PST (as a reprise for this thread) After upgrading to High Sierra I noticed that uBlock Origin in Safari didn't block the ads anymore. I don't know why (Safari 11 instead of 10 ??), but here's how to fix it: Just uncheck and re-check the box to the left of the uBlock Origin-Icon, and in the Dialog Box, click Trust - that's it. I usually have to do this once a day - when the ads start popping up again, rinse and repeat, it only takes 3 seconds ... [link] [comments]
Choppy scrolling in (High) Sierra, any solution? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 05:39 AM PST Hello everyone, I've seen a lot of people complaining about choppy scrolling in since Sierra (High Sierra seems even worse) due to a change in the graphics layer, and I didn't find a solution yet. Only system apps seems okayish (Safari, finder, preview...); firefox quantum and chrome are horrible to use. I've tried smoothscroll, smartscroll, smooze, disabling smooth scrolling and hardware acceleration in Chrome, running my system vanilla without any user process in the background. Still bad. To see if that was placebo I've returned to El Cap and everything works fine, a lot better at least. I have a mba mid 2013 with 8gb of ram btw. My question is easy, did someone manage to get smooth scrolling? It really prevents me from running newer version and El Cap will reach eol soon. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Zebra 2844 Thermal Printer stopped working after Sierra High update. Posted: 20 Jan 2018 08:35 AM PST Scouring the internet for answers, haven't been able to find a solution. Thermal printer stopped working after update from 10.10. Tried reinstalling the driver with Cups. It's listed in printers as "Idle, Last Used". Test print doesn't work, using Endicia to print labels.
