Is full screen Siri really necessary? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 11:20 AM PST Browsing reddit on iPad listening to music through AirPods. Double tap earpiece intending to say "next song" while continuing to read comments. Full screen Siri interrupts, takes ages to process request (mini 4), I'm left in silence looking at grey screen for ~10 seconds. Not very "Apple"? EDIT: Yes, I'm aware that you can set the double tap function to "skip song". Doesn't really impact the full screen Siri discussion. [link] [comments] |
Can we talk about Siri for a second? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 11:55 PM PST I just had this ridiculous interaction with her. It's actually a really cool feature that she clarifies what you mean by "tomorrow" if it's just a little past midnight. But this was an incredibly frustrating experience. Not only did she lose the context of the question she asked me when I said "Saturday," but she also completely disregarded the time I specified. Things like this show how much Apple needs to invest into Siri to keep her relevant in this growing assistant market. [link] [comments] |

I wish you had the ability to put Reminders on your Calendar. Why hasn’t this happened yet? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 07:18 AM PST Disclaimer: I know Google Calendar does this and I have tried to switch over. The problem is I like seeing the tasks organized in list form (I use it for college) and that way I know what's due and how soon and how much I'm dealing with. Google calendar can't be organized like this (tests, quizzes, assignments) and so I'm having trouble trying to manage the switch when I like the built in iOS app somewhat better. But it's kind of annoying that I can't view reminders on either calendar because they don't sync together. I don't know, maybe I'm asking too much, but as a busy college student I feel like this should be a little easier? [link] [comments] |
Apps on iOS 11 refreshing way too quickly Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:21 PM PST What's up with all my iOS apps refreshing crazy fast? I'll leave an app for maybe 15 seconds to check a text message or something, and when I return to the previous app, I lose whatever I was just viewing/reading/watching. This happens now for Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Google Maps & YouTube to name the few frequent offenders. EDIT: iPhone 7+ running iOS 11.2.1 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Jan 2018 07:45 AM PST I assume Apple doesn't use a hundred thousand networked Mac Minis for their servers. Do they run Mac OS Server on third party hardware for their own server needs? [link] [comments] |

Sign ups are open for my new twitter app Posted: 20 Jan 2018 08:09 AM PST Hey reddit, I'm a Software Developer for a large company but create iOS apps in my free time. I've been working on creating a new twitter app for iOS every day over the past two months, and it's quickly shaping up to be an honourable contender for the App Store. Flutter is a beautiful client that lets you browse twitter and tweet in an enjoyable manner. Notable features (for now) include a chronological timeline, no ads, fluid animations, a movable tweet button that can be positioned into the tab bar too, a persistent quick search, a persistent jump bar with list switcher and priority accounts, a persistent quick theme and font/text/layout switcher, automatic theme adjustment, true OLED dark mode, mute filters, direct messages, quick actions when long-holding tweets, 3D Touch peek and pop on tweets, 3D Touch quick actions on the app icon, dynamic app icon options and switching, a notification widget with the ability to tweet or view recent tweets, Siri integration, and more. This video does a better job at showing the app: https://vimeo.com/251952152 If you're interested in the app and would like to test out a new twitter experience, you can sign up for my open beta here: http://flightbase-twitter.herokuapp.com You can also check out the subreddit over at: https://www.reddit.com/r/Flightbase/ I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Former Android Users, What are some things that you miss about Android and love about iOS? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 12:49 PM PST For me, I would have to say I miss 3rd party app installation, and also 3rd party launchers. As for things that I love I'd have to say the swipe left for back and also just the general ecosystem. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 2016 Moving Orange Blotches on Display Posted: 20 Jan 2018 01:23 PM PST I've googled this a million times and found nothing. My 13" MBP TBar 2.9Ghz 256GB, has orange spots on the display. These spots move based on the orientation of the MacBook and I can't seem to get rid of them. Genius from Apple store has not been remotely helpful. Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue? image [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 03:21 PM PST I remember once upon a time that the auto-correct function was far more intuitive. But now it constantly frustrates me. It changes correctly spelled words into a completely different words. It cant catch simple errors, and avoids correcting them. The predictive feature slows your texting to a crawl. I feel like Apple should do better with this feature. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Jan 2018 09:24 PM PST With all this talk of iOS battery issues I thought I would give a quick tip/trick to check your Macs battery health without downloading an external program. Tip/Trick: MacOS 10.12+ Tested While Holding Option select the battery Icon in the menu bar this will give an expanded view of the battery information. You will see condition with a status beside it, ex. "Condition: Normal" if you select condition this will open up "Mac Help" with an explanation of what your battery status means. Hopefully this helps you guys! [link] [comments] |
I really want a "Clipboard" option on IOS Posted: 20 Jan 2018 11:15 PM PST Copy and Paste is definitely not the best experience on iOS and to be honest, having an option to view recently cut/copied text is something I didn't know I would miss moving to iPhone but I definitely do. what's with the "mailto: email address" when you cut and paste in OSX? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:48 PM PST If I try to copy an address out of Mail into another app, it always appends this into the second app. I'm guessing that apps know how to use this info? [link] [comments] |
Was scrolling through YouTube and this happened... Posted: 20 Jan 2018 10:56 PM PST I was scrolling through YouTube on my MacBook Air mid 2014 and this happened, I have tried a Pram reset and a NVram reset and both didn't fix it. Any help?Picture [link] [comments] |
Making a Keynote slide zoom in on a particular picture as a transition? Posted: 20 Jan 2018 02:33 PM PST In crime movies they always seems to bring up the virtual map of a city which then zooms in on a particular sector of interest after first blinking a square around the area (if that makes sense?). I have a page form a research article I would like to place on one of the slides, then when I am ready to move on have it zoom in on a picture on the article page as a transition. How can I accomplish something like this in Keynote? [link] [comments] |
