Show MacOS some love, Apple, please. Don't make me leave Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:18 AM PST So, this happened: https://www.macrumors.com/2018/01/10/macos-high-sierra-app-store-password-bug/ I wonder how many of these will be found? This is simply not acceptable for a company which creates such great products. I really don't want to switch to another OS as I love the whole ecosystem, but I also am conscious about my security... if there are security issues so easy to be found at simple sight, how many are there hidden to our sight? Don't make me leave the comfort of using MacOS for Linux.. or even Windows. Please, Apple, level up your game. I know you can do it. [link] [comments] |
An error occurred locating packages when installing the latest macOS release Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:29 PM PST Went to restart after downloading the latest macOS update and got this error message:
Clicking restart will restart and go back to the login screen. After logging in the loading bar appears, then the screen goes black with the Apple logo with the progress bar, like when updating. I have a spare Mac. Is it possible to download the update via Apple's website and use that package/bundle to reinstall the update via USB? Thanks [link] [comments] |
OS High Sierra lagging like crazy Posted: 11 Jan 2018 12:16 PM PST It looks like in a video game when the frame rate drops really low. I am using a 2013 Macbook Pro with retina display, and have a solid state hard drive. I have 31gb of hard drive space left and 16gb of RAM. Apps I might be running are Logic Pro, Chrome, and Spotify at the same time, but I might just be on Chrome with like six tabs open. I feel like my computer should be able to handle this. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any fixes? [link] [comments] |
Can anyone figure out why Apple Mail crashes when I click the close button? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 08:35 PM PST Been happening since the last update to Sierra, has followed me to High Sierra. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 11:08 AM PST Recently I changed hard drives and updated to MacOs Sierra. Then I populated my new hard drive with my Time Capsule to recover all my docs and programs and whatnot. Everything was fine for a few days and now all of a sudden I can't drag and drop ANYTHING. Not with my built in track pad, or my Magic Mouse. Not even a usb mouse. I tried rebooting, restarting Finder, going to System Settings-Accessability- Mouse & Trackpad, and even found a site suggesting I delete a set of plist files (which, as it turns out, weren't even present on my computer.) I'm at my whits end just wondering if anyone has an idea of what to do. [link] [comments] |
VPN service unreachable after reboot unless I turn it off and back on Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:52 AM PST I run a little VPN server at home - it makes it easier to connect to other Macs at home. However, whenever the server reboots, VPN won't work. It's not reachable. I have the ports forwarded (500, 1701, 4500) but for some reason it doesn't work if I reboot the server. If I open the Server app and turn VPN off and then back on, then it works fine. Any idea what's going on? Edit: never mind, I made a workaround. I created an automator script (app) that opens Server, switches to VPN, toggles off, then back on. And added it to the login items. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:33 AM PST This is valid for dragging files on Finder and other stuff. This will work for the Magic Mouse and also, I suppose, for the trackpad. This saves my bacon, so I do not have to wait for MacOS to scroll the view! [link] [comments] |
