Posted: 11 Jan 2018 03:03 PM PST This sub really needs a shitpost tag. Because of one post (yes, my post, I'm sorry for what I've done. At least I said it was a shitpost. What else can I do?) that got karma, the entire front page is now littered with shitposts. Does anyone else think that a [Shitpost] tag, or something more eloquent that it, or something similar should be created? Tag the mods (or anyone who can do something), I'm not familiar with their usernames and stuff. *Sorry for the long title, I got flagged by automod for a short title. Edit: Gathering up what you have all said below, my solution is that we create a big (stickied) thread of the major event that causes shitposting for that day, instead of having twenty shitposts on the front page. The mod team can then remove any posts on this topic, thereby minimizing shitposting, fulfilling that issue. Also, this removes the ability to gain attention with the shitposting tag, and it's no longer a vulgar solution. I appreciate all of the feedback on this, and I think this would be an apt solution that fulfills all of our requests. Tell me what you think. (There is simply no better example that the post right above this one at the time of edit is a shitpost.) Edit 2: Wow. Thanks for #2, guys. That's crazy. I'm not sure I wish for a situation like I mentioned in the title any longer, however. (Less vulgar/slightly better solution, if possible.) I was just annoyed at the amount of shitposts saying "OMG NOOO I MISSED THE SIGNING WINDOW NOW GIVE ME KARMA BECAUSE I MISSED IT," and the sheer number of them on the front page. Now, I believe that a more apt solution would (still) be the one I mentioned in Edit (1), or doing something smart like u/ianrod30 suggested - an [Off-Topic] tag that would maybe even have its own section on this sub-reddit that would contain most of our shitposts, or repetitive posts, and simply off-topic stuff, like an off-topic chat in Discord. Keep leaving suggestions, these could be helpful! [link] [comments]

[Discussion] Let’s make Jonathan Levin feel welcomed back! Posted: 11 Jan 2018 06:19 PM PST As you know Levin is the creator of LiberiOS. He just announced he is taking a break from jailbreaking and Twitter/Reddit for a few days. He wants donations to charity for his tool. Let's make him shocked at how much we've done while he his gone! FTR I have donated and tagged LiberiOS on my Twitter. He hasn't liked the tweet or commented yet so I have gotten the ball rolling let's go! [link] [comments]

[Tip] If Apple ever screws up again, have the IPSW you're going to ready. Posted: 11 Jan 2018 03:50 PM PST Edit: I'm posting this because most people could not downgrade due to not having the ipsw downloaded on time. [link] [comments]

[Discussion] My $29 battery replacement experience. Posted: 11 Jan 2018 11:51 AM PST Hello everyone! I would just like to share my experience of being jailbroken on 9.3.3 and trying to get my battery replaced through Apple's $29 replacement program. First, I'd like to start by saying that I do not have an Apple store nearby, Kansas City is the closest but it's 3 hours away. With that being said, I decided to go through the Apple support website and have it delivered to them to get it fixed. So right off the bat, there's shipping charges, which is completely understandable. And not something I'm complaining about, but it did bring the total up to like $37-38 dollars. Anyway, I opted to have them ship a box to me first, which I received and sent back the next day, which was last Thursday. Apple received the phone on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon it was sent back with a message, "Your product arrived at our repair center. Unfortunately, our technicians determined that your product is ineligible for service. It shows signs of misuse or unauthorized modifications. Therefore we can't complete your repair request, and we're returning your product as is. You'll get it in about two business days. We apologize for any inconvenience." On a positive note, they did say that they won't charge me and I've yet to see any charges from Apple, so it seems like they ate the shipping charges too. Now this is where it takes a turn for worst. I was annoyed that they wouldn't replace the battery but I was most annoyed by the fact that when I received my phone back today, the volume down button was inoperable. Completely stuck. Apparently, as I came to understand, a loose screw was lodged in between the volume down button and the actual button. Here's a picture of the screw that the Mobilcomm guy gave me. Anyway, Mobilcomm was really nice, and even honored the $29 dollar price point and in 15 minutes I had a replaced (albeit 3rd party) battery and my volume down button worked again. Please be aware that even if you try and hide your jailbreak, like I did, bury all the icons in folders and rebooting it to a non-jailbroken state, they'll still run diagnostics on it and detect your "modifications" and will not replace the battery. If you have a physical Apple store to go to, you may get around that, but it sounds like the battery stock is crazy low and it'll take weeks to get a replacement in-store. TL;DR; Don't send your jailbroken iPhone to Apple for a $29 battery replacement. Just go to your local phone repair shop. See if they'll honor the $29 price point and just go with a 3rd party battery to avoid any headaches. The place I went to wasn't busy and I was in-and-out in 20 minutes and I ended up saving like $8-9 in shipping charges. Cheers! -Andrew [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 07:23 AM PST I felt this gut wrenching pain when i woke up to figure out the news. Gah I hate it but you know, it is what it is. I didn't get to save the blobs in time as i was awake at around 11 and i just saved tsssaver one more time and it said "9.3.5 is no longer signed" and "saved 11.2.1 blobs" and so i was certain nothing would happen. A HALF AN HOUR LATER, APPLE SIGNES EVERYTHING. I hate it but together brethren, we can cope. [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:03 AM PST IT's funny cause according to the time stamps...I roughly dropped in right when the posts were flooding in, but I only skimmed the front page. Missed it by literal seconds. Anyway, is there anything that can do that? I know you can set something up for keywords but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for notifications of any posts that gets really popular really fast. [link] [comments]
[Question] Tweak to stop these from popping up on sites? Posted: 11 Jan 2018 10:33 AM PST

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 11:16 AM PST Since he's not working with the known devs who have released jailbreaks, and he's criticized those that have been released, you think he and the unknown dev will release a different tool? Of course they'd use the same basic exploits I'd imagine. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:16 AM PST I mean them kind of forcing you to either spend Money to get a new battery or Upgrade the device should be an argument enough to force Apple to let customers Chose which firmware they want to Stay on? They did those Changes secretly without stating it Publicly anywhere so people couldnt know and so, should be allowed to go back to where it wasnt implemented... Thoughts ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 09:43 AM PST We should be able to decide what iOS we want for our iDevices when the warranty expires. They should keep signing out of warranty devices according to their serial number and the first day they were activated and where they were sold (some countries have 2 years warranty laws). [Discussion] This Signing Fuckup. (Shitpost Warning) Posted: 11 Jan 2018 03:46 AM PST Usually, I'm against shitposts like this, but is a special situation. Last night, RIGHT AS I WENT TO BED, they started signing all of the good firmwares. I missed this once in a lifetime chance by FIVE MINUTES. NOT EVEN. I woke up, came on the sub, and see all the "iOS 7 is signed. iOS 8 is signed. iOS 9 is signed" posts AND TO THINK I MISSED IT BY MAYBE FIVE MINUTES HoLY FUCK. Anyways, thanks for reading my shitpost. Clearly, I'm a little pissed. Comment if this happened to you. Edit: Wow. Thanks for front page guys! Also, I sympathize with all of you in the comments. We have all felt the same pain. Us and anyone else in this community who failed to downgrade and woke up the next morning. Or missed it due to any reason. u/MITSOSG13 is smart, I'd have saved firmwares (like what he's doing) just in case Apple fucks up again. None of us were really ready. Edit 2: Okay. I said I'm against shitposts, and this is a shitpost. However, this was made three hours after the thing. People saw the karma I got and wanted some too. I know this is a shitpost, but none of these happened to be on the front page when I made this. Now, the literally ENTIRE FRONT PAGE is covered in shitposts who want karma and got the idea after they saw I was getting karma from this. Please stop. Having fourteen on the front page is just needless/useless. [link] [comments]
