    You've been warned.

    What is UniTether?

    It is a tweak, that makes a semi-tethered jailbreak semi-untethered, or with the word I like more "UniTethered". It does not require an exploit, and it's not how all the previous untethers worked.

    What UniTether does, is replace iOS shutdown and reboot methods with its own ones. That means, that when you for example "Slide to shutdown", UniTether will stop the iOS shutdown from being executed, but instead enable low power mode, put brightness to minimum, and start a small process that shows "Turn on" on the screen, and if you press it, it makes stuff normal again. It will also replace other shutdown (or reboot) methods that are used by tweaks, like iOS stock ones or the "reboot" and "halt" terminal commands. I'll also add a small (invisible) area at the left corner, where if you tap twice, it reloads some stuff on the device, so that if your device froze, you can make it accessible again.

    How will that affect my standby?

    The device will be losing around 2%-3% more battery in "UniHalt" than in regular shutdown. Not a big loss not to rejailbreak your device every day, I'd say.

    What iOS versions will that work on?

    9.x - 10.x. No iOS 11, but I have something better for iOS 11 users coming soon. This includes Pangu93 (NwvaStone, as I like naming it), yalu102, saigon, h3lix, g0blin, meridian (when it gets Substrate), and extra_recipe (yep, iPhone 7 users :D).

    I'll start off with this. A team I am part of uses patreon. We've found it to be very helpful at funding development costs, even after a month.

    The first point in that thread is

    What I hate is that now more and more developers are turning to this utterly crap site to sell their tweaks.

    Which really is untrue. At dynastic development, and I know this is the case with basically all patron pages, they're primarily for donations, and the perks are just perks; we don't sell you the pledge based on a perk. You buy it because you want to support devs.

    Leaving a "keep paying or get lost" attitude. This is completely different from a "pay once and let me iron out this cool tweak" from years ago.

    This is really the next attack on patreon. When you keep in mind what I've said above, the core of the argument is fundamentally invalid.

    Wait, what, how? Developing tweaks takes a LOT of time. Dynastic Developmemt has never made a paid tweak, and we probably never will. So really, we're working for free. Donations are optional, and whilst they certainly help massively, we're not forcing you to pay — you can just wait a tiny bit longer and get the tweak for free.

    You've not backed this claim up, and I know that we're certainly not doing it.

    People say "it'll stop when Cydia gets updated".

    Honestly, I haven't seen a single patron selling a tweak — some offer betas to tweaks as a perk, but this is completely different to selling a tweak.

    The new excuse will be "well now I get supported to keep updating it"

    But is that really an excuse now? The donations from patreon can help developers buy new stuff to test on, and make more of an incentive to work on updates.

    Yet again, how? All of the patreons I've seen actually state that the tweaks will be released as normal once out of beta.

    It's very clear that the highest votes are those against Patreon rather than for it.

    And you want my honest opinion why? Misinformed posts like that causes people to not think about things properly.

    The only reason developers would use this site instead of an alternative "give me PayPal and I'll give you the tweak", is to grind more moola out of the users.

    Developers will appreciate any donation, on PayPal, even in cash. Honestly. And if you DM them, they probably will give you it for free so you don't pirate it.

    Like, setup theos and slap together a few %hooks and change some values of icons and bam. You're a developer that can charge $5 a month according to your logic!

    This paragraph is what made me make this post, and what fuelled my comments below. It's disrespectful, and honestly, most tweaks are well over 500 lines. You do better.

    For dynastic, all our major tweaks are opensource and free, and I'll say this again: we keep alive off donations. But the stuff is still released, it's still free, and it's still opensource.

    We've even given out free copies to people that cannot afford to join the beta

    Patreon is NOT a way to buy tweaks, stop thinking it is

    it's a way to support developers, and get perks in exchange

    The perk of the patreon is beta access to tweaks: nowhere does it say / claim it's the actual tweak itself! We release our stuff for free.

    why I think this community is dying

    I personally think that posts like that one is why this community is dying. People don't give a shit about the effort devs go through to make, update, and maintain things.

    Developers are fucking Satan if they ask for donations, or for a few dollars a month on a website. We spend hours making shit you love, and release it for free. And if you can't see that, then I think you should be the one leaving.

    My point is being reinforced by the downvoters. Haven't read the thread at all, but they'll happily downvote any developers comments. Seriously.

    It's condemning devs for releasing a beta tweak on a donation platform. It's a perk for donating and supporting devs.

    honestly, downvote all you want. but it's cruel to make those style assumptions against developers, and to write off a valid way to support someone.

    tl;dr: Patreon is supposed to be a place to donate to support the developer, it's not supposed to be a place to pay in exchange for tweaks. BETA ACCESS TO A TWEAK IS A PERK, we're not selling access to it based on that fact.

    Edit:

    To clarify, I know one or two developers abuse it, but most, including myself use it as a genuine support platform. The whole point of patreon is to support the people working, not to buy the tweak; our tweaks are free.

    List of my Tweaks

    I've been getting a lot of requests to update my tweaks, however, I am no longer in a position to do so, as I don't have a jailbroken iOS device anymore.

    I also recently received a fake donation which never went through, which was a kick in the balls, considering it came at a time where I really needed money... it may have been done to push me into buying a device to update the tweaks (then me being shafted as the donation wouldn't have gone through)....

    So I figured I'd post here and see what people think.

    I recall saying before that if I were to ever stop working on tweaks that I would open source them.

    So how about it?

    If there's enough interest, i'll get them up on GitHub and make a new post with the links to the repositories.

    The code license will be a permissive one, maybe something like the creative commons attribution license. i.e. give credit where due, but you can do whatever you like with it then.

    Thoughts?

    Hi,

    I have been using Electra for a week now, since b8. Everything was perfectly fine until today I was simply opening the camera from lockscreen and the phone rebooted. I thought this would be normal but I am now stuck in a bootloop. I did not install any new tweak and I have restarted several times before with no issues.. The only tweaks I have: WhatsApp++, byebyeHud, growlnotifier, AudioRecorder. I am on Electra b9, iPhone 6s. Don't kill me but I dont have the BLOBS saved for 11.1.2 :(

    Is there anyway I can enter safemode? or is there any solution?? How screwed am I??

    Please help! I have been waiting on iOS 11 for jailbreak for months :(
