My thoughts on going from an S2 to an S3 GPS Posted: 31 Jan 2018 04:28 AM PST So, the conventional wisdom seems to be that going from an S2 to an S3 GPS isn't worth it. i.e., the number of advantages an S3 holds doesn't warrant the upgrade. I disagree, and here's why: -- The S3 is so much faster than the S2 that it makes daily life less stressful. When I've got my 50 pound husky pulling at my arm to walk her, and I'm trying to choose an Outdoor Walk workout, the difference between having it take a few seconds (S2) versus popping up instantly (S3) is night and day. I love not having to wait when using the S3. -- Siri is fast and talks. I primarily use Siri on the Watch, so having voice feedback and not having to wait nearly as longs make a big difference. -- The screen and buttons are noticeably better. I don't know if I just got a bad S2, but the buttons on my S3 are way more clicky versus the mushy ones on my S2. Also, the screen seems sharper and more vibrant. I don't remember reading that Apple improved these things, but I bet they did, and just didn't say anything about it. -- The built-in altimeter is nice. I live in a multi-storey home and often don't have my iPhone on me, and it's nice that my S3 tracks how many times I climb the stairs. It's not a crucial feature, but I appreciate it when I review my activity at the end of the day. To summarize, if you can't tell, I'm really happy I got an S3 even though I loved my S2. It's just incrementally nicer in so many ways, it was totally worth it to me. I hope this has been helpful to anyone who's considering doing the same. [link] [comments]

What measures “Exercise” in Activity ring? Posted: 31 Jan 2018 02:42 AM PST "Move" and "Stand" are pretty much self-explanatory, but what measures "Exercise" ring? Do I have to use native Workout app? Or I can use any 3rd party apps like Nike Run Club to measure exercise? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 08:12 AM PST Do/should third party apps like Strava count for activity challenges? My January mile coverage isn't adding my external activity so I may be short. [link] [comments]
Rant - really thinking about selling my watch. Dictation is just becoming horrible. Posted: 31 Jan 2018 07:41 AM PST Title really does say it all. Trying to get this thing to write what I am saying has been just driving me up the wall. Just stupid things, like using "to" instead of two in just absolute stupid places (along with "an/and"), using names that are just completely out there instead of you know... Real words. Sometimes the things Siri thinks I am saying are so mind boggling, words and places I've never even heard of before. I use dictation a lot, as I work in remote places it works perfectly when I have my cell phone on a booster. I'm not going to scribble every damn message either. Lately though I haven't been able to get simple messages through this thing, which results in me storming over to my truck so I can use my phone. Definitely doing more harm than good. Case in point, I couldn't get the f'ing thing to say "an airstrip" for the life of me. Completely stuck on "and airstrip". The context makes no goddamn sense with "and airstrip", come on!? I'll hold out until 5.0 to see if they implement some kind of live correction mechanism like dictation on the iPhone... If not, I'm out. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jan 2018 09:37 PM PST I have Do Not Disturb on, Silent mode on, Siri Voice Feedback set to either headphone only or control with silent switch, Siri still shouts at top of its voice! [link] [comments]
No sign of my January Challenge Posted: 31 Jan 2018 03:13 AM PST I've already completed the challenge 1 week ago. I even did it more than it asked me to. However, the January Challenge is not showing up. Any help? [link] [comments]

Is anyone experiencing blank/no heart rate data only when running? Posted: 30 Jan 2018 07:31 PM PST I'm having issues collecting heart rate data while running (I've made sure its on correctly). Sometimes there are large blanks in the chart, and sometimes there are no data at all. I've swapped my watch with someone and the problem does not seem to be my watch. Is anyone else having issues tracking heart rate only when running? [link] [comments]

Series 0 vs Series 1 Battery Life Posted: 31 Jan 2018 02:35 AM PST My Series 0 no longer makes it through the day if I do a workout with it. I went to Apple to test the battery and although it still tests "good" and no other diagnostic issues. They did offer me a replacement battery for $80 and said I would likely get back an "upgrade" which I assume is an S1. Is there any battery life improvements on the S1 with the better processor? I didn't think I'd see much and although a fresh battery would be good for a little bit, I wonder if I wouldn't just be better holding off for the S4 this year. Battery life doesn't seem to be an issue at all with the S2 or S3. [link] [comments] |
