Apple TV not displaying HDR content on Samsung MU9000 Posted: 12 Jan 2018 03:18 AM PST Hi there, I recently got an Apple TV 4K and a Samsung 65" MU9000. I rushed to buy a bunch of 4k HDR movies on the iTunes store and indulged on them, it seemed great. The ATV was set up as 4k HDR, the TV was set to HDR, so it has to be displaying HDR, right? Wrong. Last night I discovered that if I watch Netflix or YouTube on the TV's built-in apps, they display with amazing colour, much better than what I saw on the ATV. So then I switched between the same video on ATV apps vs built-in apps, and the difference was quite huge. Everything tells me that ATV is outputting in HDR, but the results say otherwise After some research I discovered other people have the same problem, something to do with HDR10 vs DV? People mentioned that the screensaver was the only thing running in HDR, so I tested this and it's the same for me. When turning on/off the screensaver, you can visibly see the colours pop into HDR mode. My TV only supports DV. I've read that the latest update which enables automatic frame rate and HDR switching should fix this, but it does not. I've tried every settings possible on both the TV and the ATV and nothing seems to fix this. Perhaps my only solutions are to return my TV and buy one that has HDR10 and DV... or perhaps hopefully wait for Apple to announce/release a fix? Anyone else who has the same problem or know of a fix/workaround? Perhaps an even better question - any other Samsung ATV users that thinking they're watching HDR but haven't discovered that they actually aren't yet?! [link] [comments]
Terminator 2 in 4K HDR on iTunes Posted: 12 Jan 2018 01:17 AM PST Nice addition. Saw the transfer on disc which looked good - yet to check on my Apple TV [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2018 04:22 PM PST I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K. At first it operated fine, but within the last week it's been shutting itself off while streaming video. At first I thought it was the sleep timer in the settings but I set it to 'Never' after it kept happening. Does this happen to anyone else? It's so constant it makes the device unusable. Amazon Prime Video app Audio Out of Sync Posted: 11 Jan 2018 10:26 AM PST I have an Apple TV 4K, and I've noticed the audio is out of sync with the video in the Amazon Prime Video app, specifically when looking at mouths when people talk. Their lips moving are running a little behind the actual audio. I've notice earlier posts about audio sync issues with 4K content, but my TV is 1080p, so this leads me to believe this is a more widespread issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Has Amazon acknowledged it? If so, is there an update in the works that will fix it? [link] [comments] |
