Posted: 13 Jan 2018 10:11 PM PST Guess who's finally buying a MacBook Pro 2017 with no touch bar!!! Took me two months to save up. Yet, hopefully I'm doing the right decision. I know their refresh will be something like minor updates but I'm fine with that to be honest. [link] [comments] |
Help transferring to new MacBook Posted: 13 Jan 2018 07:19 PM PST Hey everyone, great advice in this sub. You all helped me choose between MacBook / pro (went with the pro). I have kind of a tricky situation, I ordered the MacBook pro, which should arrive to me early next week. I currently have a 2013 air, and I would like to transfer all my data / files to the new machine. I am currently visiting my family in the USA, while my home is in Germany. Also back at home is my airport/time capsule, which is set up as the hard drive for my time machine backups (every couple days i have the pop up - last back up xxx days ago- corresponding to when i left home, no recent backups have been possible). Will this cause any problems transferring data? ideally I'd like to get everything set up and be able to sell the old MacBook here in the states. I'm only moderately computer savvy, so I'm not sure if all my data is also backed up to iCloud, and could be migrated that way. With my purchase, I also got a G drive mobile USB-C hard drive, is it possible to use this to move my stuff over? I'm looking for the best / easiest option for a quick set up. Is this easily something I can do solo, or should I head in to the store for help? thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is the i7 needed to edit in iMovie on the MacBook? Posted: 13 Jan 2018 04:54 PM PST Looking at the MacBook to travel with because my work laptop is pretty locked down. Size matters so the MBP is out. I would just need to edit iMovie videos from my phone and occasionally run R Studio for some freelance work. Otherwise it's watching media and internet browsing. Will the i5 with 16 GB ram suffice or will I need to choose the i7? Any used both? [link] [comments] |
I am looking for a pen to write on screen through the touchpad Posted: 13 Jan 2018 03:50 PM PST I am looking for a device that can help me write on on top of pdf files. Does inklet work for that? are there other similar stuffs like inklet. I cannot afford an ipad and a pencil so I am looking for efficient and cheap alternatives. [link] [comments] |
Question about 2017 13 inch macbook pro retina vs old 2015 13 inch retina pro Posted: 13 Jan 2018 05:15 PM PST Hello, Im trying to play civ 6 on my 2017 mbp retina 13 inch. This one apparently has 2.3 ghz while my 13 inch 2015 model was 2.7. It says I dont meet the minimum specs on the macgamestore for civ 6 which wasnt an issue on my old laptop. I meet every spec except for the cpu speed which is 2.7 while mine is 2.3. Is this going to be a major issue when I try and play? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:17 PM PST I have a Macbook Pro 15 with the Touchbar and I'm trying to figure out how to lock the screen. In windows you can do Win Key + L and lock the screen. When I click on the Apple Icon on the top left of the screen I see "" + Command + Q, what key is ""??! [link] [comments] |
YouTube videos lagging/rubber-banding in Safari? Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:37 AM PST Hi, I have a 2017 MBP with High Sierra and recently (since around November) the videos on YouTube are weird. The best I can describe this is like the videos are rubber-banding (like in video games), sometimes lagging. Meanwhile on Firefox, they play just normally. (But there sometimes something flashes, like if a new window would open and close instantly and the Firefox window would go to background and come back on top instantly.) Is anyone else experiencing this? Has anyone a solution? [link] [comments] |
High Sierra "Cannot open file" Posted: 13 Jan 2018 10:55 AM PST I just upgraded the hard drive in my Mid 2012 Macbook Pro with an SSD. When I try to install High Sierra to it, everything seems to be going fine until just before the end where the install fails and I am prompted with a message that reads "Cannot open file." If I click ok and open the Disk Utility, the SSD is no longer listed (even though it saw it just fine when I started the installation). Any ideas on what could be going on? Thanks! Posted: 13 Jan 2018 04:27 AM PST Hello there, I just recently got a MX Master mouse for my MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 and connected it using Bluetooth. It's working great so far in regular desktop use, but yesterday I tried to play some games using Geforce NOW with my MX Master but unfortunately the mouse lagged so much, that I could barely move it anymore. Does anyone know a fix for that? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
