Ode to my iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:41 AM PST So I get home last night at around 6pm to a power outage. We (like most of the country) are in a cold snap so around the time I got home it was in the low 30s but temps dropping fast. Most power outages last what an hour or so, Not this one. 6 hours later we got power back. I'm writing because my entertainment champ, the iPad Pro 12.9 2017 w/ LTE took care of business. I was able to stream the Wisconsin/Miami game with no issues and only a small dent in battery life. This device is nothing short of amazing! [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:44 PM PST Hmm I have been getting the message that all my storage is used up so I deleted a few apps and old messages..I only had one app remaining which took 398 mb and my iPad stores 12 gb..it worked ok a few days but now getting same storage message..I've deleted everything I can within reason but I still have no space.. What can I do to fix this? [link] [comments]
New iPad Pro 10.5”, loving it but cannot get the Notes app to work at all?? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 01:20 PM PST So I'm having a really weird issue with Apple's notes app. When I open it, all of the buttons are grey and I cannot click them, except for the pencil button. When I click that, it will let me switch colors and tips, but not actually write. The entire thing is useless. Cannot draw, cannot type. The weirdest thing is that Google seems to bring up nothing at all. I can't find anyone with similar issues. I can't imagine why I would be the only one having this issue, and it's making me feel like I must just be doing something incredibly stupid. I got the iPad for Christmas, set it up, and everything (including Notes) worked fine. I ended up deciding that I wanted to exchange for a different color, and it's this second iPad that's having all of the issues. I can't think of any differences in how I configured them, though they could exist. I haven't noticed any issues with the iPad other than the Notes app. As far as I can tell iOS and apps are all up to date. I use the iPad with the Apple Pencil and the Zagg keyboard case. I've tried messing with all of the settings I can think of with these, changing from "iCloud" to "On My iPad" and back, etc.... Definitely not an issue with the pencil or keyboard themselves, as both work in every other app I've tried. What am I missing? What should I do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2017 10:41 AM PST So I'm new to iPads.. my messages were in full screen, showing only the person I'm messaging, and suddenly it's showing a sidebar on the left that shows all current conversations. It takes up about 1/3 of the screen and is incredibly annoying. How do I fix this. [link] [comments]
Moving app settings and game saves to new iPad? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:55 AM PST I finally picked up a new 2017 iPad to replace an old iPad 2 running iOS 7. I've been keeping encrypted iTunes (12.6.3) backups and tried restoring individual apps to the new iPad (rather than a full restore). The compatible apps transferred over, but none of them retained any settings, like logins or saved game progress.
What's the best way to transfer settings and saved games, if it's even possible going from an iPad 2 on iOS 7 to iOS 11 on a 2017 iPad? I haven't used or tried iCloud, but I don't know if it will work for games that never had it enabled. I looked into iExplorer and iFunbox a while back, but I'm not sure if they still transfer app data and saved games, especially from such widely separated iOS versions. [link] [comments]

Is there any improvement when using the Pencil 2 on a first generation 12.9 iPad Pro? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:35 AM PST I'm just wondering if there is any improvement in experience using the new pencil with the original 12.9 pro. I assume there isn't, but just wondering. I'm also assuming they are compatible in case I need to replace my pencil someday. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2017 08:49 PM PST For some reason my iPad only charges when it is off and even then it charges VERY slowly. I bought a new apple charger and cable and same issue. Also the port is clean of lint. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
What is your favorite note taking app? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 03:03 PM PST What note taking app do you prefer to use with your iPad Pro and Apple Pencil? Why? And if you've tried other apps, what didn't you like about them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2017 06:23 PM PST Hey, everyone. I'm looking into buying an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Basically, at Microcenter, the 10.5 256gb IPP and the 12.9 64gb IPP are the same price (roughly $650 before tax). I really can't afford the extra $150 to get the 12.9 256gb if I want to also get the Apple Pencil (which I really, really do) as well as a case, keyboard, etc. etc. I'm not a professional artist by any means, but I do want to use Procreate mostly for doodles of character and outfit designs for things I'm working on writing. I definitely will be writing, watching Netflix, using the internet, using Spotify (I have premium so I can download music), etc. etc. I have a 32gb phone right now I've only used about 26 gb of over the last 2 years--I also have a desktop computer with plenty of room and a laptop with 256gb that I've used barely half of over the last 2 years. Is the 256 worth it THAT much to futureproof/for resale value, or will 64 still be okay if I really want the 12.9? Hell, I could get the 10.5 64gb for roughly $500 pretax which would make things even more affordable. I'm just really concerned that suddenly I'll want to toy around with music production stuff and be upset about the lack of space, but I also feel like I could simply continually move things off the IPP onto my desktop if I really had to. Any thoughts on this? I know most people go 'bigger is better' but in this case, which type of bigger? Gigabytes or screen real estate? And for someone who wants to do a lot of writing/drawing on the go, should I be sticking with the 10.5 (the 12.9 just felt so much nicer in my hands today while I was test doodling at the store)? Any thoughts from another person who uses the iPad for these types of creative pursuits would be super appreciated. (As would keyboard recommendations--I wasn't thrilled the Smartcover, it felt weird to my fingers). Sorry if this reads all over the place, it's just been 3+ weeks of research and my brain is dribbling out through my nose and ears and mouth and elbows and... [link] [comments]
What has better quality for videoconferencing: an iPad Pro's front camera or a C920 webcam? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 11:29 PM PST My wife and I are moving abroad, so we'd like to keep in touch with our in-laws via videoconferencing. What would yield the best quality video calls: an iPad Pro running FaceTime or a laptop with a Logitech C920 webcam running Skype? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2017 03:00 AM PST Hi all I am about to purchase an iPad Pro, 10.5 inch. I'm having to decide between getting the one with only wi-fi and 256gb storage or the one with 64gb storage and the 4g option. What I will mostly use the iPad for is taking down notes on meetings and in school, editing photos, reading books, surfing the web, checking e-mails, drawing, working with excel files and pdf's and as a travel companion. I just can't decide between the extra storage or the 4g option. Would love some opinions and hear what your experience is! Thank you so much for your help :) [link] [comments]
Does Apple slows down iPads just like they do with older iPhones?? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:31 AM PST I have an iPad Air 2 and had it for over 2 years now and believe it or not it is still on iOS 9.3.4 and am not looking to upgrade to iOS 11 because I want to have the best performance and awesome smoothness on my iPad and the fear of Apple might be slowing down the iPads as well. 🙂 But I am wondering does Apple slows down iPads just like they do with older iPhones?? 🤔🤔 I am really really curious about if Apple actually does this to iPads as well because of the news about Apple slowing older iPhones to protect the battery. Can anyone test this on there iPads please to see if Apple actually slows down iPads as well?? 🤔🤔 I really really hope Apple does not slow down iPads as well!!!! [link] [comments]
What’s the best way to store an iPad for 6 months when it’s not going to be used? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 05:00 PM PST I'm sure I saw a post where someone stored a MacBook for a long period of time and because it still had charge, the thing ballooned up. Is it best to assume that depleting the charge before storage is a good idea? It's a 9.7 inch Pro, if that makes any difference. [link] [comments]
My iPad won't update to iOS 11. Am I doing something wrong? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 07:37 PM PST I recently purchased a refurbished iPad 2. I updated the iOS but it only went up to 9.3.5. Is there something I need to do to update the tablet? Thank you very much in advance. [link] [comments]
Looking for a torso pocket/holder/harness for a Mini Posted: 30 Dec 2017 02:54 PM PST Hi all, I use an iPad Mini for ski coaching, to film and review. But with the waterproof case I have it doesn't fit in my uniform's pockets and I'm sick of carrying a backpack around for it. Does anyone know of any kind of strap on chest pockets or something that I could use to keep it attached to my body whilst skiing around? I'm not worried about damage at all, just transport. Cheers for any advice! [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2017 04:00 PM PST Anyone figure this out in iOS 11? i know i can do stuff in iTunes tethered to a MBP, but i used to be able to do app organizing and filing then reboot the iPad Pro 9.7. iOS used to fill in the blank spots with Apps past the 12 pages; it no longer does this. My earlier tip (use search; find app; launch app; file from three on right) can work, though also have 32 bit ones that cannot launch. Any other paths? Milt [link] [comments] |
