iPhone X not syncing with iTunes Posted: 01 Dec 2017 09:32 PM PST I have an iTunes library of roughly 130gigs worth of music. A mix of ripped mp3s, old "protected" iTunes music and current "purchased" iTunes music. I have maintained this library for years across multiple desktops and laptops. I've never had an issues with any prior devices including ipods, ipads and iphones. Last week I bought an iPhone X. I did an iCloud backup restore. After the restore was complete, all my iTunes purchased music was downloaded via wifi, but my mp3s still in my iTunes library on my Macbook still needed to be transferred. I did that transfer last week and all seemed fine. I have it set to sync all music, I don't pick/choose anything, I sync it all. Today, after creating a new playlist in iTunes, after I connected my iPhone X, the sync was stuck on step 1 of 5. I had to force quit and try again. After trying multiple things like restarting the phone, restarting my Macbook, force quitting iTunes, starting iTunes after and before I connected the phone, etc. I'm only getting sync to finish all steps 1 out of maybe 5-10 times. All other times the sync is stuck as "waiting to start sync" step 1 of 5 and it just hangs for 5-20 minutes and I give up and force quit. WTH is going on??? [link] [comments] |

iPhone 6S iOS 11 unable to open all clock-related apps, system crashes very frequently Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:11 PM PST My iPhone 6S 64G model, previously running iOS 11.1.1, all of a sudden cannot open any clock related apps, including the original clock app, and any other alarm clock apps (e.g. sleep cycle alarm clock). When I try to open these apps, it shows the splash screen but just stuck there, and would quit to home screen after about 30 seconds. The system would also crash randomly, every couple of minutes, showing the loading wheel for a few seconds like when you're turning off the device, but would go back to the lock screen after that. I upgraded the system to iOS 11.1.2, I also tried restarting the phone and resetting all settings, but nothing helps. I haven't tried reinstalling the whole system because I'm unable to backup the phone using iTunes, the system crashes frequently and the backup process is interrupted every time. Thank you very much! Help solving Screen Sharing weirdness. Please? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 06:17 PM PST Hi all... Ok, my mom (94) has used computers for thirty years but still is utterly unskilled. She is mentally and physically sharp (good genes) but anything beyond "push the big blue button" is beyond her. I do much of her online stuff remotely. She used to live about 11 miles away in Connecticut and had no problem Screen Sharing, as if worse came to worse, she could read off the vnc:// address of System Preferences. Or I could drive over. We moved her to a new apartment in Sarasota last week and is hooked to Comcast. The vnc:// is now a 10.x.x.x. internal address and my mom is not going to be able to forward ports. I tried Chrome Desktop Control, TeamViewer, Screens but here's the problem: they will not run - my mom is still running 10.7. I tried to get her to upgrade to Yosemite but the App Store no longer provides it. She cannot upgrade to Sierra/HS without making the Yosemite jump. Very simply - is there a way for me to share (control) her screen without actually flying down to Sarasota with Yosemite on a thumb drive? Thank you in advance. B) [link] [comments] |

I got my 2nd Mac Virus in almost 30 years of using a Mac. And you? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 03:13 PM PST Troj/DocDl-KVJ. thats it. I guess it's associated with Word Docs my client that have crappy winders. I always say "Macs don't get viruses and trojan hacks" but I will stop saying that now. It started about 3 days ago when my email provider immedatley shut off my account. I inquired, there was someone from a "LOW REPUTATION" IP in florida sucessfully logged in and was loadin' up a buttload of spam to blow through like a massive storm sewer. I thought, well, now days, with less NN, I'm mainly using VPN with HMA, so maybe it was an IP in rotation. I checked logs. Nope, I'm using the nearest Geo servers. Thats not me! So keep watch kids. I installed Sophos and it's been pretty anal in the past. (even when working on a client's hacked website, I download files and my local Sophos freaks out. I have to exclue these while I work on removing the malicous code). Peace. Yah, that was a question, are you experiencing more Virus/Trojan than usual, or its just me being normally paranoid? :P [link] [comments] |
Should I reset a new macbook air 2017 Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:51 PM PST purchased a new Macbook Air 2017 from amazon. It hasn't arrived yet. But because I bought it online i'm afraid that the laptop has been altered and may have ransomware/viruses on it. I'm wondering if I should factory reset it when I first get it. How will I factory reset a new macbook air? I think the macbook will have a setup the first time i boot it. So maybe when it boots up I do the setup then I will factory reset it to erase everything. Posted: 01 Dec 2017 10:58 AM PST Latest iOS edition on iPhone 7 Plus. Up to date Pioneer AVH-2330 Head Unit. No longer seeing alternate routes, or being rerouted during live navigation. Used to be on point. It's been MIA for a while. Speed limits and lane guidance still working. Will try and reroute me if I use my own known shortcuts. Any clue if it's a setting I might have deactivated, or known issue with live traffic? I live in a major metropolitan area in the USA. I have checked privacy and location settings for both the Apple Maps app and System Settings on my iPhone with respect to navigation and traffic. All are enabled. Also made sure traffic was still enabled in app itself. I know some upgrades randomly disabled "Hey Siri," so I wonder if I'm missing something here that might have been turned off as well. Appreciate any help! Screenshot from 9to5 mac that demonstrates "Similar ETA": https://9to5mac.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/carplay-ios-11-5.png [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:33 PM PST So I'm (finally) gonna be upgrading my pos 4s to a 5c that a friend is sending me this Monday. I know there was (or is) an issue with iOS 11 and the little box after I and was wondering if it's fixed now and if not how do I only upgrade to iOS 10 so I don't suffer the same fate as a lot of people? Also what should I expect, features-wise upgrading to the 5c? I'm about to watch a specs video but figured someone (or a few of y'all) may know some tips and tricks and not-so-known small features that made you like a 5c or just had a good overall experience with one. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Mid-2012 MacBook Pro Not Charging Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:14 PM PST When I went to bed last night my computer was charging just fine. When I tried to use it today, it was dead and the charger won't work. I've tried to clean the ports but that hasn't done anything. Short of taking it in or buying a new charger, is there anything I'm missing? [link] [comments] |
Issues with Spotify + Lockscreen Posted: 01 Dec 2017 04:53 PM PST Whenever I use Spotify, the lockscreen doesn't correctly display how far along the song is. It's always at the time displayed the last time i opened Spotify. I'm on an iPhone 8 running iOS 11.1.2. [link] [comments] |
My MacBook Pro is making the start up sound after I shut down. Posted: 01 Dec 2017 06:29 PM PST This just started happening tonight. I went to turn off my MacBook Pro (it's a 2012 model fwiw) and out of the blue, while it was closed up and sitting in my backpack, I heard the Apple startup chord. I thought it had crashed or something but it just turned itself back on. I turned it back off and moments later it made the startup noise again. I just closed my computer back up and put it back in my backpack. I am choosing "shut down" and not "restart" making it even more perplexing. What the hell is going on? Is it just a fluke or a sign of something worse? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2017 12:20 PM PST So, I've been going through my settings on my iPhone, and found a password for the username 'guest@scstemp', I tried to delete all passwords on this screen, but this one reappears after being deleted. I have looked online and can't find any solutions for it, can someone please explain? I've included screenshots to show it, the second of which has the password blurred out (there is a password there) I don't recall making this and as you can see it doesn't have a website assigned to it. Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:47 PM PST So I've been using the same game center account for many years with all my progress however it does not have an Apple ID attached to it. The Apple ID I use has a new/different Game Center with it, is there any way I can connect my Apple ID with my old Game Center account So I can use my old Game Center progress on my new phone? Any help would be very much appreciated (Apple does not let you sign in with the Game Center account by itself, you must have an Apple ID with it to sign in) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:39 PM PST My 7 plus keeps showing a gray screen when I'm trying to view pictures that I've just taken. I can see the thumbnail clearly but when I click on it, it just shows gray. I've deleted apps and pictures, thinking it was a memory problem. Didn't help. Also, its not letting me back it up. Not through my settings and not through my PC. Super annoying. TIA!!!!! [link] [comments] |
Achievements on Apple activities app Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:59 PM PST Hey guys, I am new to Apple (returning after a long hiatus) and I am having a problem with achievements on the activities app. I did the 5K on Thanksgiving achievement, but it never was awarded. I can see that I met the criteria for it, but did not get credit. Is this a known issue? I saw some others discussing it when I did some googling, but did not find a solution. Anyone have any comments about this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:54 PM PST I got an iPhone X yesterday running 11.1.2. I notice that iOS 11 now disconnects a call when the lock button is pressed, which if I remember correctly is a departure from its behavior in iOS 10 and earlier. The silly thing is, I got myself an Apple folio leather case with the magnets that automatically lock the phone, and now whenever I close the phone (even when connected to AirPods) the call disconnects. It's pretty maddening because I literally have to keep the case open at all times as long as I'm in a call and I can't seem to find a solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Can’t start MacBook after time machine mishap Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:00 PM PST Hello, I was recently trying to restore my Mac from a time machine backup from an external drive. During the restore, the external drive was disconnected and the whole thing froze up. I power restarted the machine. Now when it starts, it shows the Apple logo, then shows an error with lots of black text, and then just starts again. That's a continuous loop. I can't get it to go into recovery screen either. any ideas for a fix? [link] [comments] |
[Bug High Sierra] Spotlight opening/closing indefinitely, Safari crashing after High Sierra update Posted: 01 Dec 2017 02:45 PM PST Just got a new 2017 13" Touch Bar Macbook Pro last week (after having a 2015 Macbook Pro running High Sierra just fine), and updated to High Sierra this morning. Since updating, spotlight is constantly opening and closing in the menu bar, and if I trying to hit CMD+Space, the spotlight search will only open if the icon appears in the top right. I've tried to go into activity monitor and force quit spotlight there, but nothing changes. Also, opening Safari just causes it to crash either immediately or once I try to interact with it, whether that be clicking or typing. Here is a video of these happening: https://streamable.com/a6fvv Any help is appreciate, as I use Safari as my main browser, and the spotlight search is super annoying too. Also I've tried restarting multiple times already. Update: I left to make some food, and my computer went to sleep. When I woke it up, everything is now working fine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:26 PM PST So I tried to download Windows using Boot Camp on my late-2013 15" MacBook Pro. However, whenever I try to partition, I hit install and it looks like the partition's working, but then I get the error message "Your disk could not be partitioned. An error occurred while partitioning the disk. Please run disk utility to try and fix the error." I've tried every solution I could find (Using Single User Mode, using disk utility, etc.) Any help? | MacBook Pro 15", Retina, late-2013, 250 GB storage, 2GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB graphics, running MacOS High Sierra (10.13.1) Screenshot of the error: https://imgur.com/a/r6AFu [link] [comments] |
iPhone 5S camera not working after iOS11 update Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:22 PM PST Hello hello, I'm desperately trying to find a fix for this because a lot of times my apps crash whenever they access the camera like Snapchat or when I accidentally swipe for Instagram Story. Whenever I try to access the camera, it just shows a black screen on both sides. If I accidentally tap the screen, it freezes and sometimes crash. What do? [link] [comments] |
2013 Fall - Macbook Pro - needs new battery and connector change Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:08 PM PST Anyone able to recommend a place where I can get my battery changed and the magsafe connector replaced? I looked at doing it myself and even bought the parts but am not brave enough. Anyone know where I can send it to get these units replaced, and maybe even have my m2 drive upgraded to 1 tb?
