Is there a setting I can change so that it opens the app as soon as I tap on the notification? [link] [comments]  |

In the last week or so, when I'm on the phone with people my phone's screen will go black like when my face is next to it and then won't turn on again until whoever I'm on the phone with hangs up. Nothing I'm doing it working. I press the buttons and try to turn it off, anything to make it light up again, but nothing works. I can still hear and talk to them but that's it. It freaks me out every time. Does anyone know how I can fix it. Honestly with all of the issues I'm having lately I'm about ready to get a new phone. | Got a 4K Monitor for my Late 2013 13" MacBook Pro...got some questions Posted: 28 Oct 2017 08:20 PM PDT Hello, so I bought a 4K monitor for my MacBook Pro. Initially, everything was incredibly tiny and hurt my eyes to even use, but I resized stuff and changed a bunch of preferences. It looks great on my monitor, but when I unplug my Mac everything is jumbo sized. Is there anyway I could set different modes for plugged and unplugged into my monitor? I have mirroring on, so I understand why this happens, I just want to know if there is a workaround. Basically, I want my Mac to detect when it is plugged into the monitor and to change all the sizes based on that. Thanks. [link] [comments]  |
| Apple TV auto plays whatever is on my iPhone Posted: 28 Oct 2017 11:40 AM PDT I have the Apple TV that came out before the 4K one and an iPhone 8 plus. I open apps like YouTube tv or Netflix through my phone and then stream them to my Apple TV via airplay. Once the stream starts, I'll open another app like safari on my phone and browse the web. If I visit a site with a gif or an auto play video on it, my stream stop on the Apple TV and then the Apple TV tries to stream the auto play add or gif. Is there any way to disable this? Thanks! | UI lag in some applications, mostly when scrolling (13" rMBP late 2013) Posted: 28 Oct 2017 06:05 PM PDT I have a late 2013 13" retina MacBook Pro, and I am experiencing performance issues in certain apps. Here are some examples:
I have done some research on this, but I couldn't find anyone with the exact same problem. I read a lot about the general UI lagging, but that's not the case here. I.E., when I open Mission Control (3 fingers up) with a lot of apps open I don't notice any lag. I have tried reinstalling the OS, resetting PRAM and SRC, with no result. Even when I have nothing installed but these apps, I have the same problem. My system specs: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) macOS 10.13 High Sierra 2,4GHz Intel Core i5 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Intel Iris 1536MB 256GB SSD I hope someone can help me, because I love working with this laptop. I would love to have it on my desk the get the audio to come into my macbook. Similar to what we can do the we new ipads and quicktime player. Since the first ipads didn't have that kind of usb, I'm thinking is there a bluebooth way to get the ipad audio playing through my ma speakers. I've experimented with different EXIF editors, but with no luck so far. I have got around 100 files in a folder named along the lines of: "10_2012-11-29 220000_A few of gather round to hear.jpg" Since I've downloaded them all from facebook, the timestamp on these photos is the same. Last time I considered doing a dual display, I found that not many had much luck connecting two non-apple displays to a MBP. I have a Dell U2415 and planned on getting a second display (both HDMI). | Can't connect iPhone to Mac over lightning but can charge using the wall charger, please help! Posted: 28 Oct 2017 03:59 PM PDT For whatever reason, I can not connect my phone to my mac or any other mac using multiple cables. It doesn't even charge my phone. I can charge the phone using a wall charger. The mac won't even recognize the iPhone in system information. I've also tried multiple cables and macs. The cables are all authentic. There isn't much lint in the port, I've tried cleaning it as well. The only thing I can think of doing is doing a full reset, but I can't do a full backup of my phone (only iCloud) before wiping it because I can't connect to itunes. I tried going to the apple store they asked me to update the phone and they can't just replace the lightning port (they just don't do individual repairs). Apple obviously won't fix the issue without replacing the phone (which is out of warranty). I have also tried mikoto without success.. Is there anything else I can try? [link] [comments]  |

| Squished preview thumbnails in finder Posted: 28 Oct 2017 02:13 PM PDT So I often set icon for a folder in Finder as a Png image I have for easily finding the folder I'm looking for. I open the PNG, select all and copy, then go to the folder and paste in for the preview thumbnail. This works, but the image gets squished, which hasn't happened in the past, despite those past images being the same size. Posted: 28 Oct 2017 02:06 PM PDT Hi guys, I do a lot of data transfers on Macs, and one peeve I've had is when you're transferring an entire folder, and it comes across a file it can't transfer, so it cancels the whole operation. Does Mac have a feature to continue the file transfer even if it comes across a file it can't transfer? If not, any recommended file transfer programs? | Troubles with Bootcamp in infinite Restart Loop Posted: 28 Oct 2017 10:09 AM PDT Hi all, I downloaded windows via boot camp and I'm having troubles booting into it when I turn my iMac on and hold the options key down as well as going into it via settings on Mac OS. I used this tutorial: https://youtu.be/Hmm9Q-T0oTo What happens: It shows the windows logo and "please wait", then shows a black screen with only the loading animation, then restarts, it does this twice or three time before showing me the "choose an option screen". If I press "continue into windows 10" it'll just repeat this process and if I press shut down as well. (It doesn't shut down, just restarts). It's like an infinite loop... (My iMac is brand new. I bought it in May.) I have been able to log into windows on some occasions but it's almost like random chance... how and if I get in. While I'm in there has been no issues. | Posted: 28 Oct 2017 01:53 PM PDT A while ago my girlfriend's 2015 macbook air fell about a foot onto the floor while it was open, and I believe the inside of the laptop (with the screen and keyboard) hit first. It was a pretty light fall onto carpet, but afterwords the computer wouldn't start up properly. Initially it wouldn't start up at all, just showing a black screen, but after sitting a few weeks (we procrastinated fixing it as she was able to use other computers) it would start up and work normally for a few minutes before completely freezing. I took it to a (reputable, I believe) mac repair store, and the employee ran some tests indicating that all of the hardware components were showing up intact. She speculated that as the computer had fallen onto it's spine, where apparently lots of wires connect it's hardware, it was possible that one of the wires inside had simply come loose and needed to be put back into place, and that another possibility was that the computer's logic board had broken and needed to be replaced. She said they would charge $80 to inspect the computer and fix the problem if it was only a wire out of place, but that if it was the logic board it would cost $500 to replace it. Since the computer would sometimes start up and behave normally for a few minutes, it seems more likely to me that something was just dislodged in the fall, but I don't really know anything about computer hardware. Is there a way to troubleshoot this problem myself, and fix it if there is something simple, or would it be worth it to have a store inspect it and go from there if they weren't able to fix the problem easily? I believe she was running the most recent version of mac os x when the computer broke about 6 months ago. Thanks for any help! [link] [comments]  |
| 2014 iMac 5k image ghosting / burn in Posted: 28 Oct 2017 03:57 AM PDT Per the title, I have an iMac 5k that appears to have a ghosting problem. I've only noticed it the past few weeks. sections where the screen were white appear when the screen goes dark. I read some advise that said that displaying a white image in the same space "for the same time as the original was displayed" will fix it... But that's insane, it's been months of work. Also, bit annoyed that it's even at this point - it's less than 3 years and just shouldn't be an issue in the post CRT era. Images here: https://imgur.com/a/kQL5b Is there anything that can be done? Obviously I can't 'degauss' it like in the good ol' days, but am I really stuck trying to display a white screen for perhaps months to rectify the problem? if so, would it be a one-time fix needed or continually need to repeat?
