| A tip for when renting movies on iTunes via the TV app Posted: 26 Oct 2017 05:39 PM PDT So, I just rented some movies on iTunes using the TV app, and at first, they weren't showing up in my library. When I searched for the movies, it said I could play them, but I couldn't download them and they didn't show up again. I didn't want to try playing the movie, because then I would start the 48 period then and there, which would be inconvenient since I have plans this weekend. Well, one solution I found that fixed the problem was to go into the iTunes Store, and download one of the movies from there. This made all the other movies show up in my library, and the problem was solved. I don't know if this is a problem caused by my own personal ineptitude, but I wanted to share anyway, in case anyone was confused. :) [link] [comments]  |

| MacBook Pro A1278 MagSafe Board Replacement Posted: 26 Oct 2017 02:36 PM PDT I need to replace my MagSafe board on my A1278. I have tried a new charger, new battery, this is the last straw. I found a step-by-step instruction on how to do the replacement on the MagSafe board and the difficulty rating is classified as "difficult" but was wondering if any of you redditors have done this and can elaborate on the difficulty. I would say i am "proficient" in the manipulation of hardware; I have built PC's but have never messed with a laptop before. I would rather do it myself rather than paying for the labor to get it done. EDIT Clarifying remarks: from what i can gather, the MagSafe port itself looks to have either corrosion or something going on like heat damage. The charger will show an orange light, but the computer will not charge (sometimes stays at 0% for hours) and will NEVER get to 100%. Additionally, the charger end that connects to the MagSafe gets really hot. I know these things get warm, but this thing gets hot to the touch. I have tried cleaning the MagSafe with what everyone recommends on the internet (light brush or small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab) and no change. | How do I see the time I visited a website in my browser history for Safari? Posted: 26 Oct 2017 06:24 PM PDT I'm on High Sierra and I just want to know when I visited a particular site. All the answers I've seen point to Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/History but there's no Caches folder anymore. There's a history.db in Library/Safari but it's in Binary and there seems to be nothing of significance in Libary/Caches/com.apple.safari. I can't find any explanation for this online for Sierra or newer. It's kind of ridiculous that it is so difficult to do something that comes standard in literally every other browser. | Anyone else with an iphone 8 PLUS experiencing bluetooth connection issues? Posted: 26 Oct 2017 08:15 PM PDT Like the title says. I use only one bluetooth speaker and with my 6 Plus there were no issues even at longer range. With my new 8 Plus connection is: weirdly unstable at times range suck even though it is suppose to be better. It crackles and randomly disconnects. Just before i contact apple for replacement since I just bought it 2 days ago.Has anyone else had issues like this? otherwise its probably my speaker. Thank you! | iTunes keeps popping up randomly Posted: 26 Oct 2017 10:04 PM PDT So every time I plug in my headphones iTunes pops up and starts playing music. I've dealt with the playing music portion by keeping the volume on the app at 0 but every time I close the app, it'll pop up a few seconds later. | Posted: 26 Oct 2017 03:58 PM PDT Hi guys, I have am having some trouble with my iPhone 5c and I am wondering what I can do to fix it. The first problem is that the wifi keeps disconneting. Not like turning itself off, but more like disconnecting the connection with the router. The second thing is that the clock is stuck and in an hour it will only have gone 1 minute. | How To Install Mac OS on A1278 Posted: 26 Oct 2017 03:13 PM PDT I'm looking for general best practices to installing an OS from scratch onto an A1278. General breakdown of why I am doing this... it was my gf's mother's laptop whose hard drive became corrupted. I installed debian onto it which works perfectly. But my gf is not happy. She likes the Mac OS interface and the host of programs it could use. Mainly Adobe Illustrator. According to that link above, the laptop should be able to handle the latest version of Mac OS. Is that correct? So there is a fresh hard drive in the machine with no recovery installation media on it. How would you go about installing the latest version of Mac OS to an A1278. I am working from a laptop running Debian. I read here that you need to have an apple id and access to the apple app store in order to download an installation file. Is that still the case today? | Posted: 26 Oct 2017 03:11 PM PDT Since about 24 hours ago, my phone has been Searching for a signal for a mobile connection. I have tried every apart from factory resetting that I can find including hard resetting and resetting my network settings. Upon trying to fix this issue I tried updating my phone to the latest IOS update I got an error (despite being connected to a secure home WiFi network) saying that I could not verify the update because the internet connection was lost. | Posted: 26 Oct 2017 02:26 PM PDT I have a guy I work with that has a iPhone 6 well when they set him up they didn't give him his own apple Id. It's some else's I'd and he can't do anything with it because he doesn't have the password for that apple Id. I know it's stupid. Here's what I want to try. I got him an apple Id so in theory I should be able to sign out of this current I'd and sign him into the new one. Then ta da all is well, right? So once he finally plugs the phone with the new Apple ID into a computer to back things up will all be well with any info already on the phone? This should work smooth right? I used it for two years and then upgraded to an android phone. I gave the iPhone 6 to a family member were they dropped the phone in water and I had to have the motherboard replaced. Now the family member restored the phone to give back to me and their is an iCloud lock on the device. She has no idea what the password is for her email or the iCloud. I called T-mobile and I have received proof of purchase with the IMEI on the back housing of the phone but it is not the IMEI that the phone shows on screen. Will apple unlock my iPhone or will I waste a day going to the apple store? [link] [comments]  |

I subscribed a couple of days ago. After I somehow managed to log in Apple Music and subscribed like 8 times (I paid every time they tell me to subscribe. I hope I'm not getting charged extra), I managed to log in again. This time they said my Apple Music has expired when I clearly have paid. It's getting very frustrating. The only problem is that I want to transfer my WhatsApp data over to the new phone and WhatsApp is taking up 12GB of space, so I can't back it up to iCloud. Is there any way to transfer it over without restoring from backup and without iCloud? Also, will iMessages transfer automatically to my new iPhone or do I have to restore it from my 6 Plus backup?
