iPhoneX Replacing battery is not a miracle fix

iPhoneX Replacing battery is not a miracle fix

Replacing battery is not a miracle fix

    Posted: 08 Jun 2022 10:10 AM PDT

I replaced my battery once I hit 78% battery life. Issues I was facing: Carplay in a mildly warm car caused the phone to heat to the point it was unusable after a 30 minute drive, only being able to have 2 apps run in the background, and of course decreased operating time.

Issues fixed: Battery life is better, and I'm able to have ~3 apps open in the background

My take-aways: Putting in a battery is not a miracle drug that will make it feel like a new phone. The extra battery life is notable, but I'm always around chargers so it doesn't feel like a big change. The performance change doesn't justify the cost to me, and I feel I would have been better off using my portable charger I always have anyway. I look forward to see what the iPhone 14 has to offer.

My sim don't work on my iPhone, i want to know where's the problem from before going to a repair

Why are some apps randomly running in the background for me?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2022 02:51 AM PDT

There are 1-2 apps that are constantly running in the background. These 2 apps have widgets on my home page too. N other widgets show up with background activity in my battery section. Background app refresh is off for me.

What do you think will be the final iOS version for iPhone X?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2022 08:42 AM PDT

Seeing how iOS 16 dropped both the 6s and 7 in one year, I was wondering how many updates you think the X will still get.

Feel free to comment why you chose what you chose.

With many of the new features of even iOS 15 not being available on the X and many more of 16 also missing, I truly doubt that the X will get the the 17 update.

As sad as that sounds, as long as iOS 16 runs reliable on it, it will be the better way to go.

Devices like the iPhone 4s or iPad 3 ended up with iOS9(?) which performs absolutely horrible on them. So I prefer a good running final OS over a newer OS that makes your devices run at turtle speed for the rest of time (since apple so kindly doesn't allow to downgrade to an older software).

    Slowness

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 04:00 PM PDT

Has anybody noticed that their iPhone X gets really slow and laggy when it gets hot? I've been experiencing this lately. It's really bad. My battery life is at 81%. Would it be better just to update to the 13 Pro?

I downloaded iOS 16 on my iPhone X

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 09:00 PM PDT

I downloaded iOS 16 on my iPhone X because i couldnt wait to try the iOS 16 features. But there are some downsides. My phone is hotter and laggier than before, the astronomy wallpaper isnt available(i really loved that wallpaper) and battery life is worser. So downloading iOS 16 on iPhone X only includes the wallpapers, lock screen widgets and bugs. Theres no other features which explains that this phone might not last till iOS 17. So should you download iOS 16? Yes if you have a xs, xr or above or your iPhone X is your secondary phone, No if your iPhone X is your personal phone. I downloaded it on my personal phone and it lags alot while typing

Saying goodbye to my second most favourite phone

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 07:52 PM PDT

I recently had my battery replaced by Apple. However, my phone only lasts about 45 mins longer than before. Also, my phone still randomly overheats. I have now accepted that this great phone is reaching it's end because of the hardware inside of it. For me personally, the iPhone X belongs next to the iPhone 3GS desginwise as one of the most beautiful iPhones Apple has ever made. Sadly, I have to accept that the hardware inside of it is made in 2016/17 and is now 5-6 years old. Saying goodbye to my trusty phone this summer isn't easy for me as I love the design, but the hitches, heat and short battery life have unfortunately made the phone unusable. I carefully want to choose a succesor, but it has to be a good one. I can get a discount on the iPhone 13 which makes it costing only 486eur/520usd, but it has only 4GB's of ram which is just 1GB more than what my iPhone X has and 2 less than an iPhone 13 pro or 14. The iPhone 13 pro would cost me 784eur/840usd. 300 euro's more with the same amount of batterylife, but it has the 120hz screen. Should I pull the trigger on the 13, 13 pro or should I wait for the 14 series to be released? Any advice is welcome

I took my iPhone to change the battery yesterday, but after I check my phone again the Face ID is not working. Is there any solutions that I can fix this problem?

When do y'all think the X will be discontinued?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 07:55 AM PDT

    just curious

I'm assuming it won't get iOS 17 next year given that most iOS 16 features don't support it (Spotlight updates, live text, dictation, etc.) - probably due to the lack of Neural Engine cores in the A11.

We'll probably have another situation like the 6 and 6S, where the X is left on iOS 16, and the Xs gets like iOS 19 or 20 or something. I could be wrong though.

Also Apple would have to either kill of the regular iPhone 8 (because of it's 2GB RAM) and keep the 8+ and X supported (because they have 3GB), or, more likely, kill all A11 devices entirely.

    MagSafe Case

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 12:40 PM PDT

I want to invest in a MagSafe approved wallet because it it thin and way less bulky than my traditional wallet. However, I have realised that the iPhone X magnet is quite weak and a small nudge makes the MagSafe device move and eventually fall off. I've taken a look on Amazon and local business and they sell iPhone X MagSafe cases, so if anyone has bought one, does it work and is it worth it?

    Planning to upgrade.

    Posted: 07 Jun 2022 08:13 AM PDT

Hi! I'd like you guys knowledge to help me a bit with deciding.

I've had an iPhone X for a while now and am planning to upgrade, my options with my current budget (~430usd) are the iPhone 11 pro and the base iPhone 12. (Used market, not really affordable options from NEW in my country. Probably buying of a reputable seller on ebay)

If you'd please steer me in the right direction and tell me what are the key differences betweeen this models.

Mainly use my phones for some casual photos and social media - entertainment. I'm not really big into mobile gaming and a good battery life would be nice.

EDIT: also just to note, i'm looking at base 64GB model. Storage is not really a concern.

Iphone x green patch at the top left corner

Hi, I was doing something and had to leave my phone when I returned I saw something similar to this (can't show my real phone but this is like spot on but on the other side with green tint) The phone never made contact with water nor dropped is there any hope for this to be a software issue? I tried restarting but still the same

Edit : It disappeared now but I'm afraid that it'll return eventually

    YouTube app not playing PiP?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 08:15 PM PDT

Just got my first iPhone. I'm trying to get a video in the YouTube app to play while I'm in other apps, but it's not working. I have YouTube Premium and the sound plays in the background, but I can't get the video to show up when I swipe away from the app. I have PiP enabled in my phone settings. I also have background play enabled in YouTube. I don't have the option to try PiP under "try new features" in the YouTube app. I also don't want to do the work around method of going into a browser. I also tried to play Hulu in the background and this worked fine, I was able to get the video to play over my home screen just fine. I've tried a lot of different things, but nothing seems to work. It's frustrating because I pay for Premium and I want this feature to work but I'm not sure what to do.
