How come macOS Archive Utility is worse than third-party solutions? Posted: 31 Mar 2022 05:32 AM PDT I probably wouldn't notice this if I was a regular user, but I'm a developer. And whenever I try to send .app (iOS or macOS), projects, or anything of that type zipped, if you unzip it with the default archive utility, it screws up permissions on executables, or handles case sensitivity poorly, causing crashes of those apps for example. When I use Keka or any other third-party tool, everything's great [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Mar 2022 08:31 PM PDT Wouldn't it be cool if Apple added a way to choose the volume of each alarm when you set it? For instance you could have the option of making the volume low or have the ability to make the volume slowly increase until stopped. This way one could possible avoid waking others nearby. Broke both wrists. Thank goodness for the Apple ecosystem! Posted: 30 Mar 2022 12:29 PM PDT I broke both of my wrists in a motorcycle accident on March 12, and I'm so thankful that I was immersed in the Apple ecosystem. It's great to have things like headphones paired to everything that you use, speech to text recognition, a consistent user interface, integrated cloud storage for working between multiple devices, controlling your streaming device with your mobile device… It's just amazing to me that things that would ordinarily be a convenience become a lifeline. I would be in a world of hurt on top of my physical pain while figuring out how to take care of myself if I had to work out a solution for each device that I use. This goes along with the incredible accessibility features on iOS and macOS. It's been great to have multiple options on those platforms rather than some haphazard orchestra of kludgy third-party tools. Good job Apple! [link] [comments]
