[DEV] Grim Quest: Origins - a prequel to a classic DnD-like RPG / Dungeon Crawler

Hi, I'd like to present Grim Quest: Origins, the newly released prequel to Grim Quest - Old School RPG. Although thematically and chronologically loosely connected, both games are playable as standalone titles, in any order you choose.

Because of its focus on storytelling and worldbuilding, Grim Quest is often compared to a single player DnD campaign

Grim Quest: Origins is a text RPG / dungeon crawler set in a high fantasy setting, with elements of swashbuckling adventure thrown in for good measure. It utilizes minimalist and retro aestethics, vibrant musical score, and LOTS of written text to immerse you in its weird and lore-rich world.

Those already familiar with Grim Quest know that it takes the old-school approach, in a way that it doesn't hold your hand much, and expects you to put some thought and effort into it, instead of showering you with easy success and cheap dopamine boosts. That being said, the game's difficulty is fully customizable, if you find the default settings too harsh.

Grim Quest: Origins takes you on an adventure across a vibrant tropical archipelago, where you uncover the plot that set in motion events of unprecedented magnitude (as seen in the first Grim Quest game)

Grim Quest: Origins doesn't contain ads, and allows you to try the first chapter of the game before deciding to buy it (~$5). Other in-app purchases, while present, won't get in your face, and are completely of the voluntary nature. You can support the game by purchasing them, but you won't miss out on any exclusive content if you decide against it.

The game is available at the App Store:

[DEV] Ancient Board Game Collection - Pre-Order has started!

    Hello Everyone!

I'm Klemens from Austria and I wanted to show you my new game - The Ancient Board Game Collection! The game lets you discover games like Hnefatafl, played by a thousand years ago by Vikings, or Latrunculi, a game from Ancient Rome. Here is a short trailer:

    https://reddit.com/link/tcmeu9/video/2rcdgdplnzm81/player

Every game in the app has been designed by a designer from the country of the games origin; and its design is based on art from that country. So for example Hnefatafl has been designed by Albina Lind from Sweden and is based on Viking Rune Stones. Or Bagh-Chal has been designed by Pranuj Shreshtha from Nepal and is based on art from Buddhist temples. The collection includes 9 different of those games from 6 different countries.

The Ancient Board Game Collection comes with a local and online multiplayer, plus a training mode where you can compete against an AI. Everything is accessible through VoiceOver and Voice Control, so that people with vision or motor impairments can also enjoy it too. It will be a free download, to enable you to play the multiplayer with friends without both of you having to buy the game. There will be an In-App-Purchase (1.99$) to unlock all the features of the game.

The game will release in May, but you can already Pre-Order it today on the App Store! Here is the link:

That's it for now! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. And also happy about any kind of Feedback!

Adventure game recommendations for non-native English speakers?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2022 01:04 PM PST

Love to play some games together with my 8 year old on my iPad. We have had great fun with Machinarium, The Room games, and Tiny Room. The benefit of these games is that there is no requirement to be able to speak/read English, as it is not my sons first language.

So really looking for recommendations on adventure / puzzle games similar to this?

It does not matter that there is some English in the game, but preferably it should not be part of the "problem-solving" aspect of the game. Thanks!

    Please recommend a free aprg

I'd appreciate it if you could recommend a role-playing with a fun and epic scenario.

I enjoyed eternium and anima. Is there any other game like that?

I like tabletop role-playing, so I really like setting up traditional fantasy like DnD or LOTR.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day

    Looking for “World Tycoon/Expansion” games

    Posted: 12 Mar 2022 01:40 PM PST

I've recently been on a kick of these types of games. Games such as My Little Universe, Farm Land and My Mini Mart. Essentially you go around and do small objectives such as gather materials to unlock more areas and materials. You then use those materials to unlock more areas and materials. Sometimes you sell materials for money instead.

Does anyone have any more games in this general vein?

wordle version of tap tap revenge

    Posted: 12 Mar 2022 07:47 AM PST

tried beatstar and tap tap music but the effects are nauseating and the levels, rewards, prizes etc are so full on, it's sensory overload. i miss OG tap tap revenge. plus - tap tap didn't cut your turn short if you missed a beat unlike the other two.

was thinking it would be cool if there was a replacement for tap tap with the simplicity of wordle. just a simple rhythm game with a new song each day.

anyone know any good tap tap replacements? one that lets you finish your turn!
