| Remove the explore page from Instagram on iOS Posted: 05 Mar 2022 03:59 AM PST A while ago, I opted to use Instagram in Safari on my iPhone instead of the native app because no ads are shown at all in the web app. To take this a step further, I added a custom script to the Hyperweb Safari extension which removes the explore feed from the web app. I put the script on pastebin now for anyone to use. All this is possible due to the still relatively new Safari extension capabilities introduced in iOS 15. I feel like by using Instagram like this and only following people that don't primarily use Instagram for marketing, I have a better and less addictive experience overall. Maybe it's useful for other people as well. Setup

| Why doesn’t Apple integrate iMessage, Phone, FaceTime and Contacts into one app? Posted: 05 Mar 2022 08:01 AM PST Something I've noticed is how little I use the actual Phone, FaceTime and Contacts apps to utilize those applications. Most of the contacts I reach out to are available in my iMessage app which allows me to see their info, FaceTime audio and video call, as well as phone calling. I rarely will manually enter a number. And new numbers are usually provided online (which allows for you to click on the number instead) versus in person. Would it not be easer for Apple to have less apps? Messenger, Snapchat, and Instagram all do a better way of providing all forms of communication and info into one app which to me seems much simpler. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance. | Iphone voice memo wont play all the way through Posted: 05 Mar 2022 10:19 AM PST I have a 2 hours and 47 minutes long voice memo that I recorded the other day, and when I try to play it it only plays 20 minutes of it then stops. If I try to skip into parts of the voice memo it just jumps back to the 20 minute mark where it stops. The length says 2 hour and 47 minutes but when I try to extract it to files or copy it to clipboard only that 20 minutes gets extracted or copied to clipboard, so I cant even convert the audio file to some other format. Heres what I have tried so far and didnt work: Set the sound quality from compressed to lossless Download an audio converter and convert it to another audio file format (it only exports that 20 min audio that is playable) Send the voice memo to my email and try to play it on my computer (only that 20 mins get sent) [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 05 Mar 2022 03:41 PM PST I found out this morning that pinned conversations in Messages seem to ignore the sleep "focus" in iOS. My watch started buzzing at 4am when someone, who is not listed as a "favorite" or anything, started texting me. The only reason I can see the text notification went through was because I had the conversation pinned. I've never had this happen before. Is this new? If so, is it a feature or bug? If this a feature, it absolutely changes the way I use "pins" in the messages app. [link] [comments] | ||
| iPhone stolen and icloud password/back up phone number were changed Posted: 05 Mar 2022 11:48 AM PST Hi all, My iPhone was stolen yesterday. By the time I was able to get a chance to login to my icloud and lock the phone, they changed my icloud pwd and backup phone number (they secretly saw my 4 digit phone passcode). I contacted apple support and visited their store and the options they gave me are to 1)find that thief back up number- which I can't obviously, it has last 2 digits and first 8 needs to be guessed 2) any trusted device with my icloud logged in- which I don't have any such device. This is so frustrating that apple can't do much in such cases. How come they can't see I have my phone number for 2 years or so and then suddenly someone changed it few hours ago and they aren't able to recover my account. They already used by debit/credit from apple pay which I contacted my bank and kept a froze/hold on. But I have lots of personal photos and videos. Is there any way I can get them back? | Do not disturb stays active past deactivation time Posted: 05 Mar 2022 04:37 AM PST Do not disturb stays active past schedule end time I've been using DND to try and have less distractions while sleeping since my iPhone X (after that on an 11 Pro and now on a 13 Pro). I ve never had issues with it until now. The thing is I have the time ser to activate at 00:00 and deactivate at 07:00, for instance today I woke up at 9 ish, and DND was still on. I do have my most needed contacts on the allow list so I'm not worried on missing key comms, however this is not how it should work. Anyone else experiencing this situation? I told her to delete some unnecessary stuff and that I can't believe she filled it with fotos or videos already. I checked her storage and she has 23 GB of TikTok storage and 10 GB of instagram. On my desktop, my mail client (Apple Mail) - like most desktop mail clients - syncs all IMAP folders and indexes them. Search results are reliable, complete and instant. On mobile (web or app), search is a mess. Slow, incomplete, unreliable - I guess since IMAP folders are not fully synced and indexed. Does anyone know a better solution / app?
