    Google + Apple Combo

Does anyone else utilize Google products within their Apple devices? I've recently come from many years as an Android power-user and have seen I'm not alone in using a mix of both. Wonder what Google products people have kept with over Apple and why.

I'm giving this whole thing way more mental real estate than it deserves! 🤣

AirPods connecting while in case - solution

    Posted: 28 Feb 2022 07:55 AM PST

TL;DR = Enable "Automatic Ear Detection" and report results in the comments if your AirPods connect while in case and you had AED disabled.

Over the last few months I've been struggling with the issue from the title, my AirPods Pro will connect (to my iPhone, iPad or MacBook) while in the charging case. This of course disrupts current audio playing, especially annoying while you're on a call, and suddenly loose audio.

I've also seen this issue reported and discussed here at reddit and on apple support website as well, but seemingly never with any solid solution proposed outside of cleaning your case/replacing your AirPods.

The issue affects brand new headphones as well, and I had mine replaced twice already, with no effect. It also doesn't help if you disable automatic device switching. Setting "connect automatically" to "only when last connected" only meant that the AirPods would connect (while in case) only to the last device, not any device, which is not much help.

Most of the reports from users I've seen mention that people have the "Automatic Ear Detection" disabled, and so did I. So in my recent test I've waited for the AirPods to connect while in case, and than I've enabled AED and immediately the headphones detected they are in the case and disconnected from the device. For the last few weeks whenever I had EAD enabled, I've never had the issue occur.

So it seems to be a software bug, that apple is ignoring for now. I've had this issue present for a good few months at least, but originally it definitely worked fine. I have AED disabled, as I listen to audiobooks at night to fall asleep, and I only use one AirPods at a time. The fix is annoying, as I have to enable/disable AED every evening/mornign, but at least it means I don't have to throw my AirPods Pro to the trash.

If you're suffering from this issue, please try enabling AED and let us know in the comments if it helps.
