- Universal Control is great, but I can’t place my additional MacBook Pro or iPad directly either side of my main device (center in the attached image) in Display Preferences. This makes for a less fluid transition from device to device. Is this a bug or just how it works? Cheers!

| Video Playback Framerate drops significantly on Idle Posted: 03 Feb 2022 10:18 AM PST When playing back video on a screen without any other movement (eg mouse) the framerate drops significantly for a couple of seconds before returning to normal. This happens pretty randomly, sometimes there are no issues for tens of minutes while some videos are starting to lag after a couple of seconds. The audio keeps playing back fine. When starting to move the mouse to the screen contains the playing media, the framerate instantly returns to normal. As far as I observed this happens with every application (Local files via Quicktime, Safari, Firefox on YouTube/Netflix/...) on any screen. > I managed to record the bug. At first I thought this might be caused by the Macbook (Macbook M1 Pro with 2 external Displays) screen adjusting its framerate from 120hz to 10hz on idle but the issue occures on any external monitor. There is also no significant load which could cause these types of frame drops. Did anyone experience something similar? Setup

Posted: 03 Feb 2022 09:55 AM PST It used to be just Microsoft Edge that was a problem, but now it's happening on all the browsers I have: Safari, Edge, and Chrome. When I try to log in, I get the "your username or password is incorrect" message. Except I know my username and password are correct. I even reset my password to be sure. I can still use the Reddit app on my iPhone, and I could log into the Apollo app on my Mac, so I know it's the web browsers that are the issue and not my account. I've tried clearing my history and cache on all browsers; nothing has changed. What else can I do? [link] [comments] | ||

I desperately need to replace both machines with current models very soon due to work requirements (I use both Macs privately and also for freelancing work). | How to get SystemProfiler Info on a clean device on Monterey? Posted: 03 Feb 2022 08:14 AM PST Hey Lad(ie)s, I am in need of some help from the community. On all OS Versions prior to Monterey, I was able to use Single User Mode on a clean device to get to a functional terminal and use the
to get stats on the device. Under Monterey, that is not possible anymore, because Single User Mode doesn't work on a clean device. So, why do I require this. I am taking care of inventory for all the Macs and I have all new devices inventoried with the stats. Easy, since I have the receipts from the retailer. However, on all the devices that come back, I need to do a clean installation of Monterey. I have no access to the devices since they get returned from users from multiple locations and I don't have a PW for any of them. The Terminal in recovery mode doesn't work for the above code. I really don't want to go through the full setup, get the info from the device, and then go through the process of erasing all settings and content again through preferences. That's like another 30 min I need to be on each device. Looking for any alternatives that you guys may have. Btw - SN Search for a device doesn't seem to work either - especially since I don't get the RAM or SSD Size from the SN. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you SD [link] [comments] | ||

| Name or color-code Finder tabs? Posted: 03 Feb 2022 12:55 AM PST Hi, I was wondering if it was possible -through native monterey or an 3rd-party extension- to color code or name my finder tabs. For my work, I often have 2 or 3 tabs open. Of course the name of the folder is displayed, but due to the way my work organises it's dropbox folders, it's often the same name ("presentations"). I'd like to give the tab some kind of color or 'extra' name to distinguish one client's folder from another, without actually changing the name of the folder (because that would give sync issues for my collegues and would cause clients to loose acces to files within that folder). Does anyone know a smart solution for this? Edit: I do have those folders/tabs open semi-permanently so adding the color / name every time I open the folder won't be that much of an issue.
