When i delete a photo from my iPhone it still show in MacOS photos app, and when i delete in MacOS it still shows in iPhone. How do I change it? I wanna sync it completely. Goal: Create an encrypted sparse bundle that will go max out at 1.8 TB on an external USB drive and copy my files to it I have about 800G of video files that I want to move over to this new encrypted sparse bundle, but every time I try to copy all of them I get a "The item "FileName.mp4" can't be copied because there isn't enough free space" error. | Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:25 PM PST I have a M1 MBA . Monterey 12.2.1 Notes sit in lower right corner and when I pull it up it has an old note on it with no way to add a new note. I cant open up the note app and create a new note either if I put cursor in corner nothing happens and when I click it it does not come up which makes that functionality being in the corner useless. it usually doesn't even open when I click on it . it goes back into the corner. I cant hit command N anybody else have this issue with n to being able to use notes in any capacity. [link] [comments] | ||
| How are you efficiently multitasking on macOS? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 08:58 AM PST I alternate Windows and macOS and I've always found multitasking on Windows significantly easier due to the task bar. I'll frequently have between 5 and 10 applications open and active at any given time each with a few different active windows. The Windows task bar makes it super easy to see what I have open, find what I'm looking for, and switch to it quickly. I've found that the macOS dock is much less effective at this and takes up significantly more screen real estate as well. I've been using uBar on macOS for about a month now but it's kind of janky. Some applications get stuck while others don't show up at all, pinning applications doesn't work very well, so overall I'm not very happy with it. Given my bad experience with uBar, I'd like to leverage native macOS functionality to better enable multitasking. As I said before, I'm not crazy about the dock. Cmd + tab is fine to switch between applications but then I need to use Cmd + ` to switch between windows and I end up having to hunt for what I'm looking for. Mission Control seems like the best option but I don't like how it doesn't include minimized or hidden windows. I'm curious what other people do to effectively multitask on macOS. Are there any simple tweaks either to my workflow or to OS/application settings that might make things more efficient? Are there other third-party applications that implement alternative methods of multitasking? [link] [comments] | ||

| Is it possible to prevent Mac from sleeping while turning off the screen? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 12:03 PM PST I need to run some ML code and want my Mac to stay awake overnight. I'm using Jupyter lab. In system preferences >> battery >> power adapter section, there a check box that says "prevent Mac from automatically sleeping when the display is off". So, I want to check this box and the place the "turn display off after" slider at 3 min. Then I will connect the power adapter for charging. Will this suffice? So, my screen will be turned off after 3 min of inactivity but my code still continues execution overnight, right? I just want to be sure about this. | Help with booting from USB with installer Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:10 AM PST Hi, I am trying to install Mac OS Yosemite onto my Mac Mini late 2009 (3,1). There is no OS on it and it is completely blank. When I boot it up it just shows a blank white screen. So I made a bootable Yosemite USB through a virtual machine and when I plug it in to my Mac Mini and hold the option key while booting up it shows this is https://imgur.com/a/XQyIVhP. After I select install OS X Yosemite it shows the apple logo and a progress bar. The progress bar continues and then stops after like a minute or so and then shows this https://imgur.com/a/3gsbjXb. Here is the solution Posted: 25 Feb 2022 09:33 AM PST I have a macbook pro 14 with m1 max, and every time I dont reboot my mac for 4/5 days or more, I encounter some of this bugs of Monterey. I found some workaround (until they fix it software-side). If Siri or your ESC button arent working, go in Activity Monitor and search for "Siri", and then stop the process. The process will restart, and your ESC btn and Siri will work again. If the multi window or Mission control arent working, same as before, go in Activity Monitor, search for mission controll process and stop it. The best option still remains to reboot macos without opening back your windows, but sometimes you are working on something important and dont have time to reboot, so I found out a solution based on my experience. | Youtube videos crash on Safari Posted: 25 Feb 2022 04:54 AM PST I'm pretty sure it's because of Safari since I don't have the same problem on Chrome. It started shortly after I updated to 15.3. Doesn't happen all the time but quite often. Basically I watch a video and at a random point the screen goes black. Then when I click on it, it becomes grey and says the video is unavailable. | How to change an application's name to avoid security blacklist Posted: 25 Feb 2022 04:53 PM PST Let me explain... I am on a school macbook (specifically a 13" Macbook Pro with an M1 chip). My school has a security program that renders you unable to run specific applications, such as Steam, Discord, and Firefox, note that some applications that aren't on their blacklist can already be run. Now what I'm trying to do, is install Tor (built on Firefox) on my computer, but whenever I open it, the application gets deleted and a popup tells me that "Firefox is not an approved application for student use". So now I ask the question, what file do I have to change in the application for it to not detect that it's on the blacklist? I'll be happy to conduct any testing that anyone suggests.
