| iOS 15.3.1 loses battery in bursts quickly (iPhone 7) Posted: 26 Feb 2022 07:00 AM PST Hi there, my iPhone 7 loses battery charge very quickly in the last weeks (I updated to 15.3.1 from the previous version, but it happened already a few weeks before the upgrade). The strange thing is: The battery loss happens in quick "bursts" - example: I listen to music via wireless BT headphones and the battery is doing okay (maybe 5-10% loss over 2 hours, which is normal). Then I open Safari and look something up or use Google Maps and the battery drains like 5% in 2-3 minutes! I always "swipe-up"-close those apps as quickly as possible after I used them, so they're not running in the background. Could this be the fault of iOS 15? Should I go back to iOS 14? Battery life is not the best, but fairly okay for the age of the phone (87% battery health) and the battery loss problem appeared quite suddenly, so it can't be wear of the battery. | Apple changed the name of Kiev to Kyiv in the world clock? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 08:23 PM PST I noticed that in clock app, the Ukrainian capital appears as Kiev under the world clock page. But when you try to add a new clock under the search menu, it shows up as Kyiv. Did apple just change the name of the city but didn't do it properly? Or has it always been like that? See here. | iPhone 12 is terrible at switching between wireless access points Posted: 25 Feb 2022 10:10 PM PST I have a Galaxy note 20 ultra and my wife has an iPhone 12. We both have Verizon. Our neighborhood isn't great for cellular signal so I have a network extender from Verizon. We both still get spotty cell coverage in the house, but mine is markedly better. With wifi it's horrible on the iPhone. I have multiple wireless access points throughout the home. One on each floor (basement, first and second) and one mounted to ceiling of garage. I have been playing around with the router to monitor devices and which access point they connect to when in various places in the home. With my Samsung phone, it switches almost immediately to the strongest signal available, ensuring seamless wifi access. With the iPhone it will hold on to a weak signal as I walk across the house, and at times it even drops wifi and takes a toggle of the wifi on/off to get it to pick back up. I just moved it across the house and set it 3 feet from the access point on the first floor but it stubbornly holds on to the basement AP, then switches to the garage AP which is 2 walls and about 25 feet away! It has occasionally logged on to the nearby first floor AP but there's no rhyme or reason as to why. I tried turning off wifi assist but I'm not sure if this will help. It drives my wife insane because she's not tech savvy and feels like she has no reliable internet access at home, as the signal frequently drops out and she can't use the internet. I went so far as replacing her old XR (which had connectivity issues to both cell and wifi) with the first 12, and I also paid $99 to get a new iPhone 12 through Apple care thinking it was a bad phone. It seems that Apple just makes really shitty antennas or software. It's not the network, as my Samsung phone works great and I track it as it changes frome one AP to another seamlessly. Is there a fix for this? I've seen it discussed and people talk about mesh networks etc, but why would my phone and other devices be fine if it was a network issue? I'd love it if she'd switch to Android but she's way too deep into the iOS rabbit hole to come back out especially with her not being tech savvy at all. But this issue has given her thoughts about trying it out. [link] [comments] | ||

Right now I'm using an accessibility feature called Color Filters set to grayscale but they don't offer an intensity option with it. I still want some colors to pass through. Thanks! All settings on both mine and their phone have been checked. We also stopped sharing and reshared locations. It was working for about a day or so and then immediately stopped and went back to "No Location Found". Can somebody help me please?? I contacted apple support and no resolution. But every time I get a call, I can't access the internet anymore. I read the iPhone works on dual sim DSDS and both cards can't be active at the same time. | Error saving multiple photos into File app. Posted: 25 Feb 2022 09:05 PM PST I'm trying to export/save multiple photos from my camera roll into File app. By using "save to file" option but i'm getting "sharing failed. An error occurred while preparing the share. try again". Ps: at the beginning was working with the first bunch of photos but then not anymore with the rest. I also noticed that it is not working from my search photos mode, but with some other photos from camera roll it is working. Anyone experienced the same issue? Any fix? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Feb 2022 08:46 PM PST Just got an iphone 13 and although I did get it for its phone capabilities the primary reason I got it was to use the camera. The iPhone camera is so good that its almost movie quality. My method for transferring videos of my past phones has been: hook the phone up via usb chord > find video files on phone > copy and paste them to my hard drive. With every other camera this has worked perfectly. Now with this iPhone it allows me to go into a folder to view (and copy) the files but it usually skips one and a lot of my videos don't appear. It will show Vid001, vid003, vid006.. and completely exclude vid002 vid004 and vid005. i used to borrow my friends iPhone and it would do the SAME exact thing for me. Now I'm wondering if there's an alternative way to get the videos onto my computer. I'm pretty sure I can upload them to google drive but thats such a drawn out pain in the ass way to do it. I've even resorted to uploading them on youtube privately and using a sketchy "download youtube videos" site to download them: which im pretty sure results in the video losing some quality. Is this something I can fix? do i need to accept it? are there alternative ways to get videos of phone? also the iphone camera seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to whether or not the video will be full and complete (take up the entire screen) or whether its going to be one of those vertical shots with the black lines to the left and right of it. I understand that you have to keep the phone sideways to get a full shot, but sometimes in my videos I'll grab the phone and move it around which i guess makes it bounce all over the place and then it just turns out to be a vertical video.and in final cut I have to stretch the image out which makes it lose a lot of the quality. is there any way i can make it ONLY record non vertical? edit: i just tried uploading the video I need to google drive and it looks like a grainy 2010 camera [link] [comments] | ||
