My month old Macbook Pro won't charge Posted: 25 Feb 2022 04:51 AM PST I bought a macbook pro last month and recharged it a couple of times. Last night i put it on charge and it didn't want to charge, and the light on the mugsafe doesn't work. I tried restarting several times and connecting the cable to the brick as well. The day before yesterday I was charging it and everything was fine, i haven't removed the macbook or charger from the room since. I ended up letting it charge on usb c from my cell phone overnight. I noticed people suggest restarting smc, what is it about? Any advice? [link] [comments] |
If I backup my photos to iCloud, will my family see them? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 05:54 AM PST We have a family plan, which means we share subscriptions and money and such. If I enable iCloud photos, will they be able to see the photos in my iCloud? [link] [comments] |
I can't upload all my photos to Photos app - switch from Android phone to Apple ecosystem Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:21 AM PST Hello there, I have a MacBook, an iPad, and recently I bought an iPhone to fully get into ecosystem. On my old phone I have around 5 thousand photos which I wanted to upload to Photos App, and then sync with iCloud drive. Don't worry it is not my backup, I have it on OneDrive and an SD card. I copied all my photos from my Android phone to MacBook (iCloud folder to be more specific) and I tried to import them to Photos library. However, I can only import around half of them because Photos tells me that there is an Unknown error with the files. However I can open them on all devices with no problem: old phone, Macbook Preview App, iPhone(because they are right now in iCloud folder), so they are not damaged in any way I think. What should I do to be able to upload/import all files into Photos App? [link] [comments] |
Can someone please explain why very old versions of macOS have "blank" pages on sites? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 06:25 AM PST I was once on a legacy iMac running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, an OS that I absolutely loved. But in the middle of 2020-21, certain websites like textures.com, deviantart.com, upbge.org, letsencrypt.org, began to either break partially in functionality (buttons not opening links) or worse, outright blank, just loading extremely fast, but never truly loading anything but either white or grey, a solid colour, and nothing else. This issue wasn't even fixed by upgrading to macOS El Capitan. Someone said that this was to do with security protocols. Turns out it was correct, as upgrading to the most up-to-date OS version (minimum is High Sierra) would fix this. This was true, because now the websites load as they should since I'm on OSX 12 running a 2020 iMac. I also love OSX 12 too. So the question is, why do websites go blank on very old OSes? What causes the OS to not read the new security protocols? Also, not all websites were doing this, just the aforementioned websites I pointed out were having the issues. So, why do security protocols (not certificates) change like this, and what would cause such a site to go "blank" like this on an old OS like WinXP? And what is a "security protocol" anyway? Disclaimer: This is not a security certificate issue, but something else related to the website [link] [comments] |

Having problems with the Equaliser in Music. Posted: 25 Feb 2022 04:51 AM PST To start with, I'm hard of hearing - was born with significant loss so I have to use headphones to listen to any music (and it's annoying because I love music). I use equalisers to help compensate for the frequency losses I have, and got it pretty nicely set up on macOS' Music app. However, there seems to be a few seconds delay every time I start playback. I'm using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) and it doesn't matter if I'm using wired or bluetooth headphones. It's not happening when I'm playing an album and it's going from track to track, but only when I stop/pause playback and start again. It's really annoying to me to have this "muddy" music and then it pop into clear focus for my ears. Alternatively, is there a more 'background' app that can process the audio in a similar way so I could use it on other apps and even Youtube playback? [link] [comments] |

Can’t find USB device anywhere on my MacBook Pro Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:19 AM PST I'll preface this by saying that this is my first MacBook and I got it as a gift only a few weeks ago, so I might be missing something obvious, but I can't seem to locate my USB device when I plug it into my MacBook. I went skydiving a few days ago and all the pictures and videos are on a USB that I want to be able to download on my computer. The MacBook Pro doesn't have this type of USB outlet so I purchased a USB-C adapter to be able to plug the USB into my Mac. Everything fits perfectly fine, and the red light on the USB even turns on when I plug it in, but I can't find the USB device anywhere on my Mac. I checked the finder and don't see anything, and I looked for solutions on google but nothing works. Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or why I can't find the USB anywhere? I'll also add that whenever I plug the USB into a device that doesn't require the adapter, it shows up just fine. But when I use this adapter, it is nowhere to be found on my Mac. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:17 AM PST I was moving my head today and noticed a rattling sound coming from the right side of my Beats Studio 3 wireless headphones. I was about to take them apart when I noticed the power button was seriously loose. I placed a piece of tape over it, just to keep it from moving, and sure enough, the rattling went away. Just a PSA for those with the same issue. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Can I also backup all files on iCloud using time machine? Posted: 25 Feb 2022 07:12 AM PST From what I understand, time machine only backs up what's stored locally on your mac, so if you have "Optimize storage" turned on, time machine won't back up anything that has been removed to save space. Since my time machine drive is massive, I'd rather not have that limited by the optimize storage function. Is there a way that you can make sure everything on icloud is included in the backup?
