| Notification problems and tips for a newbie from Android Posted: 05 Feb 2022 11:58 PM PST It's nice to be here - I have an iPhone 13 mini as my first non android since smartphones existed. I'm still using Google Calendar but the reminders are only staying in notification centre for a couple of hours then disappear. Any ideas why this could be? I have them as persistent. The other question - are there any top recommendations for a total newbie? So far I have kept Google maps, calendar and Chrome browser (for passwords). The rest are whatever was on the phone. Posted: 05 Feb 2022 06:30 AM PST Not to say that all Android phones are bad, but I've had nothing but bad experiences in terms of quality, and even the new Pixel 6 already has issues. But mainly, Google's lack of privacy is also concerning. Now, I wait for iPhone 14 to come out. EDIT1: Some people here need to understand that I am not an Android hater. There's things I love about Android and things I don't, but for me the cons outweigh the pro in regard to Android and my decision of switching to iPhone. It is what it is, friends. | Does magsafe case affect battery life? Posted: 06 Feb 2022 01:51 AM PST I've had Iphone 12 since its release, ca. November 2020. Charging it with a 5W apple brick since day one. My battery health was super until like December last year. It was 99 or 98%. This is when I bought apple silicone magsafe case and since then my battery capacity went down to 93% in less than two months. Meanwhile battery ofmy wife's iphone hasn't deteriorated at all, despite same updates installed, same location etc. I know it sounds crazy and probably is coincidental but does anyone have similar experience? If we really really think about it, I feel like the iPhone is actually the best bang for the buck mobile phone right now. The price of Android flagships and iPhone flagships are about the same, but you'll get immediate software updates on the iPhone, update for like 5 ~ 6 years, and at that point the only thing that'll need changing is the battery. I was happy with my OP8, but after a year, it's starting to show signs of deterioration, lags and crashes, and I haven't even gotten Android 12 yet, which seems to be terrible according to the Oneplus 9 and Pixel 6 users. So yeah, really sorry but I would HONESTLY be willing to fork out a little more for an iPhone, but use it hassle free for 4 years. Just give me fast charging and USB-C, PLEASE. | iCloud acting up: cannot manage storage for apps anymore? Apps just don’t show up. Posted: 06 Feb 2022 01:52 AM PST I go and check my iCloud storage under Settings > [My Name] at the top > iCloud > Manage Storage. Any apps with data saved in the cloud have previously showed up there. However, apps do not show up anymore. I can only see and manage entries for Photos, Backups, Mail, Messages and Siri. I can reproduce this on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Anyone else experienced something similar? Probably need to contact Apple Support? [link] [comments] | ||
| iPhone 8 mistakenly linked to a company - MDM Posted: 05 Feb 2022 06:54 PM PST I have an iPhone 8 which I am preparing for sale (has iOS 15.3). I purchased it 2 years ago from a seller in Australia, brand new. I had been using it until about 2 weeks ago with no issues. Recently I wiped the device to Factory settings. I then put the device on Gumtree (Australian classified site like Craig's list). Photos of the phone included the serial and IMEI number. A potential buyer asked me what the battery percentage was. To find this I had to re-register the phone so that I could see the percentage. However upon doing this, the phone is forcing me to enrol in remote management. It says "enrolling in remote management will allow this iPhone to be managed by ZZZ Corp". However I have never worked for ZZZ Corp (not real name, obscured here for privacy) or had anything to do with that company. My question - how can I get this MDM off my phone? Do I need to get ZZZ Corp to remove it from their list? Or should I contact Apple? I can see there are some options (some paid) to remove the MDM. Any suggestions? Have I been scammed by displaying my phone's serial/IMEI on the Gumtree site? [link] [comments] | ||

This is incredibly creepy to me, but I can't find a way to turn it off. I already disabled attention aware features in settings, and I'm assuming this is related, but turning that off doesn't disable it either. Is there a way to disable this feature? My iphone 7+ which i've had for almost three years stopped connecting to wifi. it connects says "weak connection" and then after a couple seconds the weak connection changes to "No internet connection" and then it won't load anything. and i know it's not my wifi because i've tried it on multiple wifi's and hotspots and it won't work. and i've done a network reset and turnt my phone on and off and forgot the network and followed pretty much every youtube tutorial but it just won't work. it's really weird too because it happened as soon as i got a new phone so i don't know if it has anything to do with that or not. but please help i have a lot of important memories on here i can't get to unless it connects:/ [link] [comments] | ||

(Except the iPhone 5C I shared with my friend who I was living with in middle school) And now I have the opportunity for an upgrade but Ive been thinking of taking the plunge and getting an iPhone. Ive never disliked Android. Although in recent years, I've noticed that my Samsung has issues with lag, calls will drop constantly for no reason, and will sometimes freeze up, and it's not even an old phone. So basically, I'm wondering if you switched from Android to iPhone, what made you switch? What made you like your iPhone, and what do you miss about Android (if anything) that iPhone does not have? | Posted: 05 Feb 2022 08:50 PM PST I have an iPhone 12 Pro with record settings of 4k 60fps. In the settings the correct amount of space a minute of video for this setting should be around 440mb. However when I record videos the amount of storage being used is almost doubled. (Ex. 9 minute video is 7.14GB, 1:07 min is 882mb, 2:09 min is 1.71GB) Is this a common issue or could there be a reason to fixing this? (sometimes the videos are taken with front facing camera.) | iPhone 12 or iPhone 11 Pro Max? Posted: 05 Feb 2022 07:22 PM PST Hello, I managed to get 2 iPhones on the 2nd hand market and was wondering which one I should keep and which one to sell. Please note that this is my first apple phone and I've been an Android user since 2012. I am currently using my awesome Pixel 2 XL. 1) iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB I got this for 560 CAD and it has 86% battery health. I appreciate the big screen for videos but loathe the fact that I have to swipe down from opposite corners to bring down two different things. Also the notch is hideous lol the battery seems to last forever though which I appreciate. 2) iPhone 12 64GB I got this one for 600 CAD and it is still under warranty for a month. It has a few minor scratches on the screen which I'm wondering if I can use the warranty to service? If I can do that then I'll most likely just keep this one because it has 5G connectivity which future-proofs the phone and magsafe is exciting in theory. The screen definitely feel small though although I appreciate the lower weight and ability to use one hand. Based on this information, which do you recommend I end up selling? I plan to keep this phone until it no longer receives software updates from apple. [link] [comments] | ||

I'm afraid I know the answer after being on the phone with apple most of the day…but is there ANY WAY POSSIBLE to get my 15,000 photos/videos back that were deleted "when they were saved in the cloud before the reset". I lost the last 2 years and I'm devastated 😢 Edited to add: she took it to Best Buy and the person working there assured her the photos were backed up in the cloud but they were apparently not backed up.
