| Thoughts on Otterbox Symmetry case? Posted: 20 Jan 2022 07:34 AM PST I've traditionally used the Otterbox Symmetry case. I find they don't get dirty or work for a very long time, and I like hard plastic cases because clear ones drive me nuts showing little specks of dust and all. My only issue with the Otterbox Symmetry case is that the rubber near the phones charging port is pretty flimsy, and over time it frays and comes away from the phone. First world problem for sure but I don't love that. However I find of all the cases I've tried, this is the easiest to grip without being fully made of TPU, and the buttons are very easy to press. | First time iPhone user - Shocked! Posted: 20 Jan 2022 02:01 AM PST This isn't a post to trash talk Apple or their products but I just wanted to mention some things and maybe get some help if it's available. People always mention that iPhone's usability is way better than Android. But NOO!! It's not. - Why in the world would the phone call logs include calls made through other apps like Messenger, WhatsApp? There is not even an option to exclude them. Adding to this, the logs doesn't display more than 100 latest calls. Why? Or is there any other option for this?
- Volume control - I saw a lot of people mentioning this and I agree with them. There is no option to control volume for different things. Android even has an option to control volume for apps separately but I just need an option to control 'Call' and 'Media' volume. Any options for this?
- Notifications disappear - I get a notification from an app. Let's just say it's an Instagram DM. I don't wanna check the message right away but I open Instagram to do some other thing like see feed or something. This just closes the notification from the notification panel. Why? The moment I open an app it just closes all of it's notifications and doesn't even display the notification number on the app icon. What if I don't wanna open all messages for some reason? How come no one found this annoying? I asked my iPhone user friends and they never talk about this. Maybe because they don't know how much better it can be.
- Calls handling - I know this isn't a problem specific to iOS but at least some android phones don't have this. When I am in WhatsApp on a WhatsApp video call and go to another app during that, the camera gets turned off. I will have to go back to the WhatsApp app for it switch on again. Similarly, when I am on a WhatsApp, Instagram, messenger call and if I accidently close the app, it just ends the call. Like why? I had an OnePlus before and this didn't happen. Any ideas?
- FACE ID is the worst - Face ID is the most overrated feature on iPhones. I see it working perfectly for tablets or MacBooks but definitely not for phones when we use them in really different positions. For example, when I wake up and try to open the phone, it doesn't work because half my face is buried in the pillow. Like, JESUS!! I just woke up!! And I am not even gonna talk about unlocking it with a mask on. I know nothing can be done about this.
- Photos app - How difficult is it to make a Photos app that automatically creates album for different apps. Even screenshots go into the mix of Camera, apps and everything. It is a real mess if you want to find a photo sent through a particular app or a screenshot. I have to scroll through the endless Recents album.
- Ghost Vibrations - Recently, I started getting notifications but when I check my phone there is nothing. The phone would vibrate as if there is a notification but its just nothing. Its doing that for absolutely no reason.
- Swipe to Text - Its not very bad but still annoying. When I am typing a sentence using swipe to text, it would get the words wrong occasionally (understandable) but it would also correct the previous words to make them grammatically correct or whatever. Now I have to delete all of them and type again.
I really like my phone, for its hardware, the camera is amazing and the design too. I got myself an Airpods Pro and the integration is so good. It's been 1.5 years since I started using an iPhone but I am still not convinced to stay in the ecosystem. I know what this post is going to attract but hey, I just need ideas and help, maybe.
