Posted: 31 Dec 2021 07:21 AM PST Always thought it was annoying how I had to select a 5 minute interval for reminders (and possibly other apps but I haven't checked) [link] [comments]
Apple Maps animates the London Eye and the clock face of Big Ben Posted: 31 Dec 2021 08:01 AM PST Thought I would share a lovely little detail I just noticed. In Apple Maps, I was looking at central London when I noticed that using satellite view, the Eye itself actually rotates https://gfycat.com/flickeringbitesizedindigowingedparrot I also checked the clock face of Big Ben and it was showing the exact same time as currently too, so it seems these are animated too. Couldn't find anything in New York or San Francisco though so not sure if only London has this currently but I thought it was a cute little touch [link] [comments]

iPhone SE 2022 Launch + Spec Discussion Posted: 31 Dec 2021 01:08 PM PST Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil its 3rd version of the popular iPhone SE in Q1 of 2022 with March being named as the month of launch and has even begun/preparing to shortly begin trial production of the product. Given that its 2 years since we got the iPhone SE 2, its due for an upgrade but a lot faster of one compared to the 4 years between the original and the 2nd. There are a lot of conflicting reports about the phone from sources. According to some analysts, the iPhone SE 3 will come with the same 4.7 inch screen and big bezels and Touch ID (reminiscent of the iPhone 8 and SE 2) and the same price point. However others have said that Apple might be upgrading the screen size to approximately 5 and a bit inches with a moniker being leaked of 'iPhone SE Plus' - however this is pure speculation and could be related to the updates relating to 5G and a new A15 chip (will most likely be detuned so don't expect flagship level performance) in which case its clear that Apple intends to just change chip and slap on 5G to the SE 2 and rebrand it as the 3. Some have even claimed that the SE will be modelled after the XR and will essentially take the mantle of design from the largely unsuccessful 'Mini' series which saw its final release with the 13 due to poor sales figures. If so, this could see a revamp of the outdated design of the 8 and we could see a new design akin to the series of iPhones succeeding the X. Camera specs are a hit-and-miss to predict at this time but if its true that Apple only wishes for the chip and 4G limitations to change, doesn't seem very likely that anything new will be coming. Ross Young, an analyst claims that Apple will release a modern design with a 5.7-6.1 inch design in 2024 for the SE which could indicate little substance to the magnitude of upgrades the company is planning to bring in March Battery life and screen size were amongst the biggest woes of iPhone SE 2020 users with many complaining of horrendous drain and battery life; as well as of a 'nearly unusable' screen (what I've heard from some personal friends). The new chip may seem to resolve that in part but with 5G I doubt it'll fill the cracks very well What are your thoughts on the specs and launch date and whether Apple will just fix up the 2020 phone or if we're in store for a revamp either with screen or design and what you think we'd get/should get in that scenario? I'm thinking of waiting for this SE to come out and upgrade and I know that industry analysts and leaks are hyping this phone up to be the one to steal a billion or so Android users away to join the Apple ecosystem, so it seems doubtful to me that Apple would drop the ball if that was their intention. It's not often we get an SE upgrade every year, so I'm thinking there might be some serious substance to this launch but let's discuss Also Happy New Year to everyone! [link] [comments]
Can Apple make a longer MagSafe charger already? Posted: 31 Dec 2021 11:29 PM PST Edit: To be clear I'm talking about the iPhone MagSafe charger I might be in the minority loving the MagSafe charger but I can't believe after over a year they still only offer a 1m cable. Even with a power strip on top of my night stand next to my bed, it's just too short. Give me a 1.3-2m option, please. Or even better, a puck with a detachable USB C cable. [link] [comments]
