    iCloud Private Relay Down for Some Users

    [Bug] iOS 15 removed a character on the Australian English keyboard, anyone with it in their password prior to updating is now permanently locked out.

    On the Australian English keyboard, the Polish L character (Ł or ł) used to come up after pressing on the L key but in iOS 15 it was replaced with some other character (Ḻ or ḻ).

    If this letter is used in your Lock Screen password before updating to iOS 15 you will be unable to unlock your device.

    After a week talking with Apple Support the only options are:

    1. Factory reset the device (losing all data not previously backed up, and it can't be newly backed up without typing in the password)
    2. Wait for it to (maybe) be fixed later and do a DFU mode update. The issue was apparently "accelerated to engineering" but was not fixed in iOS 15.1.

    This change did not appear in any update logs which makes me think it was a mistake. The engineers somehow failed Software 101 and removed a character available on the lock screen without thinking about the implications.

    Hi! I've tried to purchase sth online today from a trustworthy website via Safari on my iPad. However, when I pressed order, I didn't get redirected to confirm my oder. Instead, Safari asked me, if I'd like to download file "purchase", which I did, thinking it might be the order and that it would help me get redirected to finalise my purchase. Safari downloaded the file directly to my iCloud. The icon shows a questionmark, file size is 20byte and when I try to open it just says purchase and underneath public.data. Do I have to be worried that it might be a virus/malware, sth like this? I'm quite worried. Again, the website is trustworthy, the purchase hasn't gone through though.

    Understanding reply when using Hide My Email

    I'm assuming that when replying with Apple Mail, hide my email is fully supported. But what about other clients, how do they now to use the forwarded email when replying? Is there something in the mail headers?

    Old app starts downloading when I download another

    I downloaded Tapsports Baseball, played it for a few hours then deleted it.

    Since then, whenever I download any other new app, Tapsports starts downloading as well.

    Example: I started downloading Pikmin Bloom, and Tapsports downloaded and installed as well.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    iOS data usage widget?

    Is it possible to set up a widget in iOS15 to track data usage? I'd like to be able to see it from my Home Screen of Today View.

    My mobile provider doesn't track usage in their app so I want to make sure I can track it. I could do this in Settings > Cellular and see it but there much be an easier way?

     

     

    If a widget isn't possible, can you recommend any apps that do this on iOS15?

    Any way to clear apps in Privacy>Tracking list?

    The default setting was set at allowing to ask, so I turned it off to deny and not ask at all, but now I have a list of apps that have requested to track me. The only way I've been able to remove apps from the track list is to uninstall it.

    I'm wondering if there's a workaround clear it or if it's a case of there being a list regardless of whether or not the app has requested to track a user.

    If anyone would be a dear that have turned off the request tracking setting check If they have any apps in the list even though they haven't requested it?

    Volume buttons don’t change volume within iMessage

    13 Pro Max, when I am inside iMessage the volume buttons do not adjust volume. The slider doesn't appear and volume doesn't change. Outside of iMessage the buttons work fine. Is this a software issue, feature or setting I can adjust?

    Storage bug in ios15

    Recently I deleted videos and photos in File app to free up storage.

    However, it turns out transferring the data from "On my iphone" to "system data", meaning the data isn't deleted.

    It only happens in ios15.1. No issue in ipados and ios14(my secondary phone)

    Is there anyone also facing same issue?

    How does iOS decide whether or not to auto update an app?

    When it comes to automatic app updates it seems like both my iPhone and my iPad flip a coin to decide whether they are going to automatically update an app or not. Some apps get updated the minute I plug in my devices (while on WiFi), while other updates sit there seemingly forever until I update them manually.

    Is there a reason for this behaviour?

    I tried googling it but all I can find is an explanation of how to toggle auto updates on and off, which is not what I need. That setting is enabled.

    Focus Status Bug

    Apparently some contacts see my Focus status in messages and some don't. Then when I go to turn it on for the individual contacts that don't see the status, it turns right back off! Anyone else having this issue and has anyone found a solution? (iPhone 11, running iOS 15.1)

    Looking for an app

    I originally posted this in /r/iphone but it was removed by a mod and I was directed here.

    I currently have an Android phone. I use an app called "Silence Premium". It will auto mute my phone based on keywords in calendar entries as well as other customizations. Such as, muting at night, but allowing certain contacts to ring through. It will not allow those contacts to ring through based on the calendar trigger though. I could configure it that way, but chose not to.

    I've been trying to locate something for an iPhone that would do the same, but have not been able to.

    Anyone aware of something that would be a good replacement?

    Screen limits & data on deleted apps

    If an app, for example instagram, had a screen time limit set up & was subsequently deleted - how long will the app name be visible in the list? I am aware that screen time holds data from last 7 days, however, unsure about screen limit detail - is it possible to show an app that was deleted over a month ago?

    Calendars & Reminders app ate my storage & can't be deleted

    Hi I just updated to iOS 15 and noticed this app has occupied half a gig in iPhone storage, and I don't have this app in menu & also it can't be deleted, whenever I delete it there it just reappears immediately.

    Any solution? Thx

    why is iMovie so kneecapped on iOS?

    In the era of Tiktok, and social media in general, it's just ridiculous that iMovie only has landscape orientation with no real way of choosing the aspect ratio (the project is locked at whatever aspect ratio the first imported clip has).

    There's also no way to add text overlay for memes or captions, and I cannot rotate photos at all. Any still pictures will always be upright. Even if I edit the picture before importing to be rotated 90°, they will still be upright in iMovie.

    These are really simple and basic features, I just don't understand it. It's not like iMovie competes against any for-profit apps that Apple sell on iOS.
