| Posted: 05 Nov 2021 07:52 PM PDT Just got my fully spec'd M1 max 16" [10core/32cgfx/64gb/8tb ssd]… I was doing a simple photo merge in photoshop when I received a Mac OS prompt reading: "Force quit applications: Your system has run out of application memory, to avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using" It kept popping up over and over, interrupting my work. Photoshop was using 43gb ram and Lightroom was using 19gb. I've done far larger and more memory intensive merges on my intel MBP machines over the years, and never seen a prompt like this. My i9 would plow through the 64gb ram limit by swapping to the ssd, and I've held Does anyone have any idea if this is an M1 SOC limitation or a new Monterey warning? I figured with such fast throughput and insane SSD speeds, the SOC would just start using the SSD/memory swap to never approach limits like this, but I'm basically dumbfounded that I stumped such a powerful device with a simple 24 image, 12mp photo merge. I've been trying to connect to them and typed up solutions online and nothing. Not even coming up on devices until last night when I updated my phone and tried it. | iPhone 8 Constantly Losing Signal Posted: 05 Nov 2021 05:45 PM PDT I'd say within the past 10 months, my iPhone 8 has been randomly dropping signal while out-and-about. Granted I live in a rural area with a few cell-towers around, but my sister has the same kind of phone and has no issues (same cell service too). I'll walk or drive half a mile from home and my phone will say "No Service", then 1x, LTE (no bars), or 3G without any warning. Already tried resetting my phone, turning it on/off, and turning Airplane mode on/off, nothing works. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]  |

I was thinking of giving it to my little sister who likes playing Minecraft and Roblox, but it only has 4Gb and slow enough just browsing on it. I know I can spend like $113 on get 16GB Crucial ram kit, some screws, and watch YouTube vids on how to replace it myself (never done this before). | Can I return a MCB 2021 to an Apple store if I bought it from an official reseller? (UK) Posted: 05 Nov 2021 05:31 PM PDT Bought the new MacBook 14" yesterday after saving up and when I opened it up for the 2nd time I noticed literally the tiniest dent on the right edge. It's so small that I felt it before I saw it but I was a little annoyed. But since the official reseller is far from my university I won't be able to travel back there to try and exchange it for a non scuffed one hence I'm wondering if I can return it at an official Apple store. Also I know that at least in the UK there is a bit of a shortage of the new MacBooks so I don't know if it would even be possible or worth trying to get a pristine one as I need it for work. | Any tips or methods to keep dog hair out of MacBook Pro? Posted: 05 Nov 2021 09:05 PM PDT I have a small dog that sheds and every MacBook I get ends up filled with dog hair. Really trying to break the cycle this time around with my new M1 Pro. Obviously - Deshed the dog. But he sheds a lot. So are there any practical tips you guys have? Like, use the computer on a tray when in bed is one I thought of. Stuff like that which might give me a fighting chance at keeping this thing sparkling new inside and out for the long haul. Thanks! I tried holding down the power button, I heard the start up sound, but right now the progress bar is still stuck at about 90%. It hasn't moved in a few hours and I'm not sure what I should do now. They also sent a link that started off with "https://apple.com/s/". Since I assumed that my order number was automatically private, I thought it might be real. I clicked the link and signed in. Upon further research it seems that I might have been scammed. I did in fact change my password, but am still confused and concerned as to how they got my product order number. EDIT: After talking to an apple specialist, here is what they had to say: " If it brought you to the official apple site and allowed you to log in with your Apple ID it is most likely not a scam. But to be sure I would advise changing all your passwords to your accounts. Yes that was an authentic email. " Me: How come it came from "@orders.apple.com", instead of "@apple.com"? Specialist: " This is possible because of the department it was sent from. " The reason I thought this message might be a scam is because of these forum posts: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251690459 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8600510 If the messages are in fact legit, I'm guessing the individual that actually ordered products mistyped their phone number. EDIT 2: This is either an extremely clever scam and they have absolutely all my information, or it's completely legit. I had just found out I have been emailed by the domain "@orders.apple.com". Probably real then. Since this seems to be the case, apple should probably take down, or just lower the reply saying that it's a scam. All it does is create false fear, and false reports. I've tried diffirent headphones and my phone cant seem recognize any of them. I've already updated my iOS settings and restarted my phone multiple times but my phone keeps being stupid. Posted: 05 Nov 2021 06:56 AM PDT My iPhone 12 was stolen on Thursday while waiting for a bus stop, I didn't even remember what the thief wore. I immediately put it in Lost Mode from my iPad. I contacted the police and they actually found the thief. However, since I wasn't descriptive enough and he didn't have the phone in his possession, they let him go. Since then, I am very sure the iPhone was erased, as I got a message from "Apple" telling me my iPhone was found and that there was a link where you could see its location, though when I clicked on it the links were just a way to harvest my login. I gave them garbage data, but the iPhone is still offline. So, anyone else had similar stories of theft? I'm just sad about the whole thing, my wallet was lost and not returned but that was a separate incident. The phone's long gone now, I guess I'm just still taking a while to accept this. I don't want the pro max. Too big. Which is why the 13 pro is a great choice for me.. How much screen on time do you guys get? I'm quite a heavy user when I'm not working. She doesn't have a phone number but an email address assigned to it. I called her from my iPhone using FaceTime and her email address. It worked no problem. Sent her a text from my phone and it worked. I added her email to my contacts list and now both functions don't work. I can't FaceTime or text her. She has to initiate the FaceTime or text. | Is there a way to improve the intelligence of “left behind” notifications? Posted: 05 Nov 2021 02:07 PM PDT At first it seemed like a useful function, but now it's so many false alerts that it's making me think of abandoning the whole "find my" premise. Every time I get out of my car, I get a "left behind" notification for everything I've left in the car, and then half an hour later I get another round of notifications. Is there really no way to get it to, for example, only notify me when the thing actually moves? I have a feeling this is going to be so annoying as to make the app totally useless. How will I ever know of something is actually missing, if I'm getting notifications so frequently I'm forced to ignore or even disable them? The most frequent offender is my AirPods Pro, which basically trigger "left behind" notifications simply whenever I go a while without using them, even when they are in my pocket inches away from the phone. But now that I've got a bunch of AirTags, it's doing it for any that I leave in my car when I get somewhere. You'd think it would be smart enough to notice that the "left behind" location precisely coincides with "parked car" but no. [link] [comments]  |

Thunderbolt 1 is very difficult to search for because Google just gives you Thunderbolt 3 results. | iMessage won’t activate on one specific phone number Posted: 05 Nov 2021 05:20 PM PDT I tried another SIM card as well as eSIM card and every of them works except this one number which I am using for the longest time (which is also used to register the iPhone). Long time ago I have put another SIM while on a travel and after that I cannot use my old number with iMessage again. It stays on "Waiting for activation…" forever until it spends all balance I have. So, it means it is stuck in an infinite loop of activating but something prevents it from succeeding. [link] [comments]  |
