Posted: 04 Oct 2021 02:33 AM PDT Yesterday I shoot 30gb of photos (approximately 1300 pics) and I want to edit them with apple photos, but if I import them, they inevitably start to import in iCloud filling the entire storage, is there a way to avoid that specific folder to import to iCloud without disabling it for every image on photos? P.S. English is not my main language so I might have used the wrong terminology so I hope it's still clear [link] [comments]
M720 scroll Lagging / Stuttering on MacOS Posted: 04 Oct 2021 02:08 AM PDT Hi, I recently switched to Macbook with the new M1 Macbook. When I started to use my good old friend M720 triathlon mouse, I faced a big disappointment. Mouse scroll wheel does not respond well enough. It is working but whenever I scroll it sometimes not scroll at all, sometimes scrolls but not as responsive as it is on Windows. It is like stuttering while scrolling. Especially occurs when I scroll up. When I hit the endless scroll button and wheel starts to spin freely, it fixes my problem. But then the scroll is too fast in endless scroll option. It makes mouse scrolling useless :( I tried to update firmware, disconnect-connect again, update logi options app. No luck in either of them. Does anyone have any solution for this? I have reinstalled bigsur due to my deletion of python 2, is there a way to delete old OS files? Posted: 04 Oct 2021 01:13 AM PDT title pretty much sums it up. in windows, when you reinstall the OS without formatting you will get windows.old folder and you can delete it via disk cleanup utility. how can I do it here assuming I have the same folder somewhere [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 04:37 PM PDT Hi all, Is there a way I can remap the Play key (F8) on the Mac? The default behaviour is to open Apple Music. I am not an Apple Music user and this has no use for me. I'd like to achieve this without using the "use as standard function keys" if possible as I find most of the other default keys useful. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Are there any up-to-date resources that explain the internals/architecture of macOS? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 12:03 PM PDT I am a relatively recent Mac convert coming from Windows and Linux. I don't work in the IT field, but I have an interest in learning the under-the-hood workings of the OS that I'm using. One of the best books I have ever read is Linux Device Drivers, where the low-level architecture of Linux is laid out for the casual reader. I've tried to find similar resources for macOS to learn how it works, but there seems to be an extreme dearth of such materials online. Apple themselves have some reference material on their developer site, but it's not organized, and seems to be in an outdated legacy archive that does not look maintained. The copyright is 2015 on the page, so I am unsure if this material is still relevant, given the changes since then. I know Apple is a pretty "closed" company, but I assume actual professionals have to learn somewhere, so where are the books? Even Windows, which is not open source, has a definitive book on the subject that seems to be embraced by Microsoft. The only books I could find for macOS are 10+ years old, and the book generally considered definitive was written for OS X Tiger... Any insight? [link] [comments]
Is there any way to downgrade Safari from Safari 15? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:19 PM PDT Upgrading to Safari 15 was a mistake and it broke so many websites for me. One baffling broken site is Unidays, which Apple uses as a student verification client for Apple Music. Any way to downgrade to the latest Safari 14? I'm on macOS Catalina [link] [comments]

Did Big Sur 11.6 break displaylink driver 1.5? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 07:49 PM PDT I can't seem to get my dock working (dual displays) using Big Sur 11.6 and displaylink driver 1.5. Does anybody else has any issues after updating? I have tried unplugging the dock, installing old drivers, rebooting. Nothing works. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 07:47 PM PDT I'm not tech savvy in the slightest but I'm curious if it's ok to delete the MMCs files in CloudKit? My path is library -> caches -> CloudKit .... -> MMCs. I figure since it's a cache it should be fine but it's taking up 11GB of space on my laptop and I want to make sure it won't cause any errors. I have iCloud enabled on my computer and iPhone and my photo library is synced. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 07:30 PM PDT Hi everyone I am back on the Mac OS family and was wondering how to use focus mode on Big Sur? I have searched and searched but cannot figure out how to do it. It is not under notifications under settings not is it in my task bar. What am I missing? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 09:42 AM PDT I have a lot of pictures that I added over the last year(s), and i remember a few years ago when it indexed my photos it suggested faces which I need to add a name to. But somehow it never does that anymore. Does anyone know a way how we can manually activate photos to add new faces to the faces tab? (I wouldn't want to go to each picture and add those that aren't there yet). Thanks. [link] [comments]
Hiding Safari UI elements without fullscreen Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:15 PM PDT I can already hide all the ui elements(tabs, search bar, etc.) while on full screen, but I often use split windows and I was wondering if it is possible to achieve the same thing without having to go full screen? Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition on Amazon Posted: 03 Oct 2021 02:46 PM PDT Can anyone confirm if this Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition on Amazon provides the licence for version 17 or not? The details on amazons listing do not go into details on version info I have some amazon gift card balance still to use and was hoping to buy from amazon for this reason, but again the listing is very sparse on version information [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:51 PM PDT Tried adobe bridge, saw these (big enough) problems:
The first problem is a bigger problem that the 2nd, it's a usability problem. Decided any of these ways to find images would be good A) Searching all letters of image name Example:
B) Using and searching tags like in Evernote, blogs, etc D) Possibly other ways I dunno about C) Searching using metadata like the title
This is (re)-ordered by priority. I'm sure not sure which would be best until I test it When you do in incomplete search, would be nice if app has a live preview of all X (things) like Dynalist (and maybe other things) does How does suggested app find images? There are so many free image viewers. No need for Adobe to own this entire app type/category for just good finding and viewing of images. Desktop. Has anyone used nomacs? It's not being updated anymore [link] [comments]

Parallels 17 - Are Kali Linux ARM and Windows 11 ARM working? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:26 PM PDT Hello! I was wondering if Kali Linux ARM and Windows 11 ARM are working without issues in Parallels 17? I saw that there were some problems with the Parallels Tools… Thanks all! [link] [comments]
Keep charger plugged in or not? Posted: 03 Oct 2021 05:47 AM PDT When the charger is plugged in and the charge-level has reached it's maximum, will the MacBook get it's energy just from the charger alone, i.e. completely circumventing the battery, therefore protecting battery health? Or would it still go through the battery somehow? In other words: When working at home where there is access to electricity, what's better for battery health:
(While I don't think this makes a difference, I am using MBA M1 with Al Dente app set to 75% maximum charge level.) [link] [comments] |
