- tvOS 15 update failing. Says “Step 1 of 2: Preparing Update” and then screen goes blank and Apple TV’s light starts blinking. After power cycle, it boots up normally but it’s still tvOS 14.5. Same problem before updating to tvOS 14. Deleted a bunch of apps, which worked before but not now. Any tips?

| Turn off iPhone remote without unpairing Posted: 10 Oct 2021 04:05 AM PDT Is there a way to just turn off the remote feature on my iPhone without unpairing my phone or iCloud account? I want to use the physical remote and don't want the big airplay screen always on my Lock Screen of the phone and I don't want it to be sucking battery in the background but I'd like to still have the feature available if I want to turn it back on. | Did TVOS break HDR for anybody else? (TCL Roku Tv) Posted: 09 Oct 2021 12:28 PM PDT I just went to watch a show on my living room tv, and noticed that the icons were all washed out. After messing with the settings for a while I realized If I turn HDR off the picture goes back to normal. I've had this tv for ~5 years and the AppleTV has always been on HDR (a little icon pops up to confirm "hdr content) If I use the Roku app I can watch HDR content. I have a 4k tv, and got it for the frame rate matching feature for streaming sports. I got image judder no matter what I used to stream before. Now with the atv4k, the judder is gone since I use the matching frame rate...question is, is there a way to see what resolution, and frame rate that is being played while streaming? It def doesn't have the judder it did, but I'd like to check while I'm watching to see what resolution and frame rate I'm playing media. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 09 Oct 2021 07:25 PM PDT I am so frustrated with Apple right now because I just spent an hour trying to verify my PayPal account as my payment option so I could purchase a movie I can not find anywhere else. The movie "Housebound" is an awesome movie I had seen years ago and couldn't find it but Apple has it. I'm watching it through the Apple TV app on my Roku and the sound it terrible. I have to turn the volume all the way up to hear regular speaking and then get the jolt of heavy bass scary music. I forgot this is why I don't purchase anything on Apple TV and continue to use Vudu. Do any of you lovely humans have a fix for this? I really don't want to spend money on an Apple TV are there used options I could try to find instead of buying new? I like to sit with an episode and read the credits before starting a new episode, but one second after an episode ends Netflix automatically minimizes the episode window and a countdown for the next episode begins. I hate it with every fiber in my being. I already have turned off auto play for trailers and episodes from the settings in my Netflix account. Is it actually turned off? It feels like it isn't. Since updating to tvOS 15 I've noticed that some apps that never had an issue before have awful picture quality now. For example when I load a live channel it use to take a few seconds to clear to a HD picture now it just stays in poor quality. The same apps all work fine with the SmartDNS on my Iphone, Ipad, Laptop and Nvidia Shield. Anyone else noticed this? [link] [comments]  | ||

The Fubo app on the atv is not nearly as bright as the native roku Fubo app. I haven't found a setting yet that helps, am I missing something? | Posted: 09 Oct 2021 06:22 AM PDT Have a Samsung tv that does not support Dolby vision only HDR. Yet somehow the Apple TV keeps serving up Dolby vision streams in apps including Netflix and hbo max. This results in extremely dark scenes pretty much unwatchable. I've tried everything possible including enabling and disabling HDR / match dynamic range. Even reset the Apple TV. Still doesn't work correctly. I can only get 4K or 4K Dolby Vision. Not 4K HDR. Any ideas on how to get it work ? Am on tvos 15. [link] [comments]  |
