    Should I get the MBA 2017 for me as a student? I dont plan on doing games or heavy video editing. Mainly for doing school stuffs like making word documents and presentations, browsing web and watching youtube.

    My problem is that I read a lot of articles and researches and open a lot of tabs, at least 20 to 30 tabs at once (sometimes up to 50). I want my workflow to be as smooth as possible. Is this gonna be problem? Will this macbook last until 2025? I plan on getting the baseline model. Thank you for your opinion.

    M1 MacBook Air charging through Satechi Hub

    Hey everyone,

    quick question: I just got my M1 MBA with the back-to-school deal and also bought at the same Apple store the Satechi hub (that connects HDMI, USB A, USB C, and two SD cards). I remembered that there were some problems with charing through the hub and I was wondering whether this also applies to this hub as it's sold by Apple directly. Has anybody looked into this in detail (I only find conflicting information online).

    Safari quits unexpectedly

    Hi, whenever I click "Add bookmark" on Safari, it exits immediately. What's the cause and what can I do about it? I already tried restarting my mac but it didn't fix it. Thank you for your answers.

    I have never used an apple product before.So can any programmers give a review about the device what to expect and hardship compared to a normal laptop with linux.also there is no air 16gb version available in my country will that be a problem

    is it safe to mail in my macbook air for repair?

    i love my new macbook air (except for the trackpad tbh) but the internal microphone is not working

    well, it works for siri and it works for dictation, but thats it.

    i've been on the phone with a senior advisor at apple for over an hour with no resolution. we booted in safe mode, i reinstalled OS, we tried lots of things.

    the mic is visible in whatever report we looked at, but it does not modulate at all in sound under system preferences

    the first senior advisor told me he cant imagine it is a hardware issue, but the second told me he thinks it is a hardware issue. fwiw, a coworker who is good with computers said its definitely a hardware issue.

    the nearest apple store is not very near (i dont have a car) and they have bad reviews for long wait times

    i am considering mailing the device in for repair even tho its pretty disappointing for the brand new device not to work properly. (should i push apple to give me some kind of freebie here?)

    is it safe to mail it in? do you think they will actually fix the issue?

    i am so worried about the device being damaged in the mail that i am considering just ordering an external mic (i am getting a usb c adapter soon in mail, and i have amazon gift card)

    everything else seems to work fine/great, so i would hate for my otherwise seemingly-perfect device to get ruined; i read apple doesn't assume responsibility for items damaged during shipping.

    Protective sleeve for my new MacBook air 2020 m1

    I've just got a MacBook air, and I really want to keep it safe. So, what's the most protective sleeve you can get for it, I'm talking water resistant, dust resistant some sort of absorption foam. And not with some sort of zipper that's ruining it, some magnets messing around with battery or something else. So, what's the most protective sleeve there is for the MacBook air 2020 m1?

    activation lock?

    I bought an M1 MBA off of someone recently, and the transaction seemed to go smoothly. They did the reset and I was able to sign into my iCloud account to set up as a new device. I was later told by my friend of a potential activation lock that could've been set onto this MacBook. He said that if the previous owner had iCloud find location on then I won't be able to reset this computer due to the lock. Is this true? If so should I worry about this because I already signed in with my iCloud account.

    m1 macbook pro degradation

    so i'm saving my pennies currently for a macbook and i'm torn between the two m1 models. the thought occurred to me that maybe the pro would last longer because of the active cooling. is that sound logic? would the pro last longer than the air? should i put extra for a computer that will last a few years longer (maybe) or just save that money and go with the air?

    Hi everyone.

    For especially creative uses such as photo/video editing/gaming/word processing, are there any obvious or not-so-obvious benefits to having both fairly similarly specified machines at the same time?

    Can the new M1 chip MacBooks do anything in the previously mentioned areas that an i7, 16GB Windows laptop cannot?

    I also have a 2020 iPad Pro.

    Appreciate any responses and apologies if this is the wrong section to ask this.

    NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID error on El Capitan

    I've been using a Mid-2010 macbook for years now that is running OS El Capitan 10.11.6. Starting yesterday numerous websites will not load for me, all indicating a "NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID".

    Some digging around today shows me that an encryption certificate used by older laptops and MacBooks expired, and this is the likely cause. I know this may be an extremely silly question, but would updating my OS to High Sierra resolve this issue?

    I have an old MacBook from 2005-ish. I’m not sure what to do with it, what I can do with it, how/if to get rid of it. Is it venturing into relic territory? Should I tuck it away somewhere for another 15 years? Should I scrub it and give it to my 11 year old? Any ideas?

    Used: 2017 Pro or 2018 Air

    So, my current laptop is garbage. I bought it over actual necessity for college and I regret that decision. Battery life is not good, screen is awful and it's slow.

    My girlfriend has a MacBook Air that I use for college work whenever I'm with her, and that made me look into Mac's more (even though I wanted one a while ago).

    Shopping online for used models (new ones are out of the picture based on pricing alone - Brazil), and I'm stuck between the 2017 Pro and the 2018 Air, the first one being the cheaper model.

    If you could choose one of them, which one would it be? And why?

    Use your Macbook as a screen for gaming consoles

    Hi.

    I would like to use my Macbook Pro as a screen for my gaming consoles, especially the Nintendo Switch, instead of a tv. I read that it is only possible with a game capture device such as the Elgato Game Capture HD 60 S but I got very little information as to why that is.

    Why can't i just plug in the HDMI cable like I do with a television?

    Are there any other options as to using a Macbook as a screen for gaming consoles?
