    I've been using Mac few months, and I assume Music app is kinda broken and got bad UI/UX.
    the Apple Music search is usually broken and never work until you relaunch the Music app.
    and the album view is hassle, It would much better if it works like just like iTunes. expand a room from album's cover and shows the tracklist. if you click another album cover, the room thing moves to that album with tracklist and smooth animations.
    currently, looks like Apple is just adding features to app, but no fix the app itself at all...

    Boot Windows 10 from VHD on macOS Catalina 10.15.7

    [I'm reposting since last time I got ignored] Hello, I have a mid-2012 MacBook Air and I would like to know if there is a possibility to boot Windows 10 from VHD. I have no idea how I'll create a Windows 10 VHD but if this isn't possible then I'm not gonna waste my time, and also this isn't the right place to ask. First, in a previous post, I asked how I could boot an ISO file without USB, but people told me I couldn't. Next I want to try this. Being an old MacBook Air, it will struggle running a VM so that's not an option either. I saw a guy saying he uses to boot from VHD since partitioning isn't practical on Macs, and a Google search gave me some useless results, because they're all about booting macOS from VHD, but I want to boot Windows. The reason I want this is because I want to test a game that my current phone can't run (I have an iPhone 6 which isn't mine and I'll get my real phone back from warranty but the game on there lags a lot and the device overheats), and it's much more optimized on PC, but only available for Windows. For now, all I have is this MacBook Air and no external storage drive. I'll find the support software myself. So can I boot Windows 10 from VHD?

    Switching from 1Password to Keychain?

    In light of the continuing decline of 1Password, which is now switching to Electron, I'm thinking about switching to just using Keychain. There are a number of guides about the mechanics of doing so, so that's manageable.

    My question is to those who've made the switch. Does Keychain provide the same ease of use? Interoperability between iOS and MacOS? Any problems? Any unexpected benefits?

    What's the best LOCAL & NATIVE & MARKDOWN-SUPPORT note taking app for macOS

    I'm looking for a note taking app for macOS, in which the notes should be organized locally and I will sync them with Dropbox or GDrive. Also the app should be a native app instead of Electron based one. And that will be nice if markdown supported.

    Is the Event Handler in Big Sur broken or did I smoke too much crack?

    So here I am at 12:26 AM trying to understand why handleURLEvent:withReplyEvent: is not being fired under Big Sur even through it worked fine in Catalina. The actual URI gets registered with the OS, the application opens, but the application delegate's handler never gets invoked.

    Is this another one of those "mentioned in a WWDC conference at 53:21:33" situations or is the thing actually fucking broken?

    First time Alfred user (Comment your favourite theme)

    Hey Community!

    Recently migrated from windows to Mac and Alfred was the first thing I installed. I really like visual pleasing user interface but default Alfred is not good according to my taste. Going to try few of the themes. Please comment your favorite theme. Being a new user, I would need to learn a lot about Alfred. Feel free to post some resources in the comments.

    I will try to update this post with all the recommendations I get from comments.

    I can't open a Jar File

    A jar file won't open with an error message stating: The Java Jar file could not be launched, Check the console for possible error messages. I went to the console and the only thing seemingly related was from the Jar Launcher stating: LSExceptions shared instance invalidated for timeout. Does anyone have any ideas what to do?

    Erratic behaviours with flash drives (& Spotlight)

    Anyone who knows all about this please help.

    Without making any Spotlight privacy exemptions:

    • Kingston DT80 on Fat32, drag a folder in, copies at adequate speed. Works OK in every other way.
    • Kingston DT80 on Mac OS Extended Journaled or AFPS, drag a folder in, takes forever or won't work, if it does it takes minutes just to display the folder; won't eject.
    • Sandisk Cruzer Glide 3.0 on Mac OS Extended Journaled, no problems.

    The Kingston will work on an Apple format ONLY if I make a Spotlight exemption for it. But why do I not need to do that if it's on Fat32? And why do I not need to do that with the Sandisk?

    I must've spent about 8 hours playing around with this drive just trying to get it working right. I want to know if it's fully functional. I don't want to embarrass myself by taking it back to the shop and having them try it on Windows and say it's fine.

    (M1 MacBook Pro, Big Sur 11.5.1.)

    TIL you can lock your dock to prevent resizing

    I was so happy when I found this today because it meant meticulously resizing my dock whenever I accidentally dragged it would be a thing of the past. Here's the command:

    defaults write com.apple.Dock size-immutable -bool true; killall Dock

    To make this change, open Terminal and run the above. If you don't like it and want to revert, change true to false run it again.

    Unable to Upgrade OS Past Version 10.5.8

    I booted up my Mac today hoping to be able to use it for some work in the future. After realizing the MacOS was completely out of date, I decided to see if I could do a software update. However, there was no software update available in the app store to upgrade my current OS version. I decided to manually install the latest version of MacOS. This lead to me realizing I have to upgrade to each and every version after the one I have to get to the latest one. Or so that's what it was telling me based on every version I tried downloading.
    So, I decided on getting version 10.9 first and a pop up showed up saying "This software is not supported on your system." That doesn't really make sense to me because online it says my Macbook should be compatible with this version and some of the other later versions of MacOS.

    My Macbook is a MacBook Air mid 2013
    Memory: 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1024 MB
    Software: OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)

    It seems that the only version of MacOS I can upgrade to next is 10.9 but clearly my system isn't going to let that happen. Is there a way to fix this? Or do I have to buy a newer model of a Mac laptop in order to get a later version of MacOS? Maybe I am completely missing something here and my Mac isn't compatible after all? I'm really not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

    Is there a way to alter how Spotlight "preferences" the files it displays? more sensitively than in System preferences

    Hi

    I have a work Mac and I often have to search through my thousands of files for specific documents and folders. However for whatever reason spotlight always seems to preference irrelevant files first - even though I've never clicked on these files.

    If I type in a search term - Irrelevant folders, system files and internal program files come up, files that possibly contain my word embedded somewhere deep in the file - But a word document with the same title I access multiple times a day, or a folder doesn't come up at all.

    I've looked into the system preferences option where you can alter what types of things it finds, but this isnt sensitive enough.

    Is there any way to make the search results actually relevant?

    Mac boots to circle with line. How to reinstall OSx without losing data?

    When trying to reinstall OSx through recovery options it attempts to install but then I get an error saying that it can't be installed. I remember once having this same issue and then actually being able to install it through other means without losing my data, but I don't remember what I did. Can anyone steer me into the right direction to get this done? Won't boot up in safe mode but recovery shows the drive so I know the drive isn't bad and First Aid detected no hard drive issues.

    Question regarding MacOS Big Sur Bluetooth issue

    Hello all,

    My iMac 27" 2020 has a Bluetooth connectivity issue, which it doesn't recognize any 3rd party devices such as the Logitech MX series. It only recognizes the Apple touchpad and Magic keyboard so I have to constantly change back and forth whenever I reboot my imac. Does anyone know why it happens and how to solve this issue?
