Push Notifications Not Working for WhatsApp Posted: 11 Aug 2021 08:31 AM PDT A briefy summary: Sometimes, randomly, push notifications doesn't work for WhatsApp. It does not matter if in celular data or WiFi connected, I have to manually open WhatsApp so it can present the "Connecting" message and then all the new messages appear in the chats. Some things I already tried:
iOS version: 14.7.1 WA version: 2.21.151 [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Aug 2021 12:52 AM PDT I'm on an iPhone 12 Pro, but I had the same problem on my Xs before that, and also on my iPad Pro: Day after day, my phone tells me it will update iOS during the night. It's on wifi, it's on the charger, yet every morning, it has not been updated. What am I missing here? I know I can update manually, but I'd really like to know why it's promising to update and not doing so for weeks on end. Come to think of it, none of my iDevices have ever updated iOS overnight – in spite of having enough battery or being in the charger, and being on wifi. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
3D Touch -> Haptic Touch app switcher Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:52 AM PDT Can I use something like old 3D Touch app switcher on non 3D Touch device? The one when you press on the left edge of the screen, I always used it. Moved from 6S to SE 2020, it's like 2 steps forward and 1 backward, the only way to switch apps is to double tap home and tap an app? That's twice as long. Googling also gave no results. From Android to Apple - Loving it, but 1 question Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:42 PM PDT Photo file names are "IMG_###" anyway to have this changed? On the android side, it titled the files with a timestamp which was really helpful. Is there anyway to change this on iOS or maybe make a shortcut app to do this? Thanks! [link] [comments]
What’s going on with my cellular data? 5GB used in 9 days, 3.9 from “documents and sync” Posted: 10 Aug 2021 06:24 PM PDT My phone is blowing through data like crazy. I reset my stats at the beginning of my month for ATT and Documents and sync has used almost 4GB of data in that time. I know it's not iCloud Drive because I have cellular data turned off for it. What could be causing this and how do I stop it before I get throttled? Overall Data Usage System services Version is 14.2 [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:24 AM PDT Google Maps for iOS and iPadOS just received a wonderful update, adding two new widgets that will make your mapping experience a whole lot better. New Google Maps Update Adds Two Important Widgets that Make Navigating and Searching Much Easier than Before The name of the widgets pretty much give away what they do but here is a quick rundown anyway. The Find Places Nearby widgets let you discover nearby places, obviously. Whether you want to navigate home, to work, find gas stations or restaurants, it all happens in this handy dandy widget. The second widget is Know Before You Go. This allows you to have a quick glance at the traffic, reviews, timings and more before you head over to a place. [link] [comments]
Next Year’s iPhone and Macs Will Feature Chips Built on 3nm Process Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:16 AM PDT While Apple's iPhone 13 series is right around the corner, we are hearing details on the next year's iPhone Macs. According to the latest, the 2022 iPhone and Macs will feature 3nm processors manufactured by TSMC. The company is planning to begin mass production of 3nm chips for Apple in the second half of next year. This means that the processor will deliver better performance and battery life on the upcoming iPhones and Macs. iPhones and Macs Will Feature Chips Built on 3nm Process For Better Performance and Battery LifeThe report was shared in DigiTime's paywalled preview which will be published tomorrow (via MacRumors). It reads that the company is on track to mass-produce 3nm chips for the second half of 2022. iPhone 12 Kernel Panic (I think), what happened? Posted: 11 Aug 2021 05:03 AM PDT Last night, I was using my iPhone 12 to browse the internet (Safari), and it suddenly turned off. It quickly rebooted and continued working as if nothing had happened, and I haven't had any issues since, but I checked my analytics data and was able to find a panic-base file from around the time my phone turned off. I checked the panicString for the file and found "SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)". I looked up this error and was able to find several posts for the new M1 Macs, but none for the iPhone. Would this error mean something different for iPhones, or would the issue be the same as it is for Macs? iOS version is 14.7.1. [link] [comments]
Apple Pay without FaceID for small purchases? Posted: 10 Aug 2021 08:57 PM PDT Are there any solutions to this yet? Been using Android phones to travel on public transport or pay at restaurant and since they only require screen on to pay it was really smooth. With the iPhone I need to unlock it, and thanks to the pandemic, removing the mask is quite risky in public spaces, the keypad really slow things down. Now for public transport I would use a physical card instead of the iPhone. If only there is a way to allow using Apple Pay for small purchases, e.g $10 and no more than 5 transactions in 1hrs without secured unlock. [link] [comments]

Deleting photos from iPhone, not iCloud Posted: 11 Aug 2021 04:05 AM PDT When I attempt to delete a photo (that is backed up on iCloud) just from my iPhone, it seems it's also is deleted from iCloud. Why is this when the point is to save storage on the iPhone? Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Aug 2021 09:08 PM PDT When browsing our local store (like eBay), I noticed a lot of people who are selling an iPhone mention the battery capacity. I've bought a lot of used phones in the past and never cared about that in the past but they were all Android phones and I never had to change the battery even after years of usages, with heavy use and less maintenance, so I was wondering if it's the same when it comes to iPhones or the battery health is actually important, if that's the case and I get a used one with let's say 90% capacity, how long it's gonna hold with daily usage? How fast does it drop? And if you ever replaced your battery, how many years did it take? [link] [comments]
What's an accurate Weather App you recommend? Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:19 PM PDT Im surprised how different temps can be on weather apps.. In your opinion, whats an accurate weather app you trust? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Aug 2021 02:40 AM PDT I pasted a long bit of text into a new note, and the app crashed. II reopened it to find that every note and folder had been deleted, including the defaults. I cannot create folders. I can open a new note, type in it as much as i like, but when I like the note, it's nowhere to be sen. I had quite a few important things saved in the app, so I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Aug 2021 11:11 PM PDT Does anyone have any idea how to remove this root certificate? I downloaded the onavo app way back in the day before apple took it down and before I knew it was owned by Facecrook. It's still on my phone and although it's disabled, it just bothers me. I can't simply remove the profile because the profile has already been removed. I'm pretty sure I'm looking at digging into the file system folders or nuking my phone via complete reset without restore which I don't want to do. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Having surgery , need to allow access to my glucose app Posted: 10 Aug 2021 02:04 PM PDT Hi all I'm going under for some surgery and I'm diabetic. I have a sensor that sends my blood glucose readings to an app (dexcom) on my iphone. The plan is for the surgical team to use my phone to monitor my blood glucose in real time rather than finger prick tests that they would normally do. The issue is this. I use my phone for everything including banking and whatnot. Is there a way that I can set the phone to only allow access to the dexcom app? I can't show the readings on the lock screen from what I can see apart from setting up a siri shortcut but it needs to be my voice that asks for it. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you [link] [comments]
Automatic Updates/Upgrades question Posted: 10 Aug 2021 09:22 PM PDT Anecdotally, I have set my iPhone to update automatically, but have yet to see this happen. I often check for updates on this subreddit or I'll see if there is CISA or US-CERT publishing for Apple iOS issues. I've had iPhone since SE. Has anyone experienced this? Anything I can check out that might resolve this issue? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Some App Notifications Not Making Sound at Lockscreen Posted: 10 Aug 2021 12:42 PM PDT I just got an iPhone 12 yesterday and have added my apps to it. Some apps sound when they send an alert while the phone is locked and others don't. I have been through the troubleshooting steps, but some still aren't making a sound. For example, the MLB and NHL app all make a sound when they send a notification, but the NBA app doesn't. The Washington Post app makes a sound but the NYTimes app doesn't. For each App, I have gone to the notification page to make sure the sound option is selected and confirmed they all are. I have replicated the settings, so the MLB, NHL and NBA app all have identical app notification settings, but the NBA app still doesn't make a notification sound. I tried turning off notifications on Apps, went back to the Notification menu, then went back in the app and re-enabled notifications with sound. Do Not Disturb is turned off. I made sure all Bluetooth connections were disconnected and I re-started the phone. Is there another setting I am missing? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Aug 2021 11:35 AM PDT This literally just happened, and I'm baffled as to how or even what. Me and my brother were texting each other, making plans for the weekend. Suddenly, a link appeared in the conversation as if sent from my brother. The thumbnail was of an old 50's style high cabinet, and the text below said something about its designer, that's all I can remember. My brother likes retro designer stuff, so I assumed it was something he was bidding on at an online auction. I replied "looks nice!", however, I had just done so when the link vanished, leaving my reply without context. My brother asked "what?", and I asked him what happened to the link. "What link?", he said. Turns out, he had no idea what I was talking about, and had not been looking at any cabinet let alone sent me any link. He's not the kind of person who would pull a prank like this, plus, I have no idea how he would've retracted a sent text if that were the case. His phone is also his only device, so it's not someone else hijacking his iMessage. Carrier glitch? What are the odds that it was something he actually could've sent? Again, the text vanished, so if it was a prank, it was a very strange one and would've hinged on a very specific iMessage glitch. Done rambling. Anyone got any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Aug 2021 06:52 PM PDT Hi all, I have been using my iPhone X for few years now and recently my Face ID is having some trouble working. If I failed to attempt to unlock my phone with Face ID once the Face ID won't work again and when I swipe up and try to unlock my phone, the lock icon will just be keep loading and doing nothing. If I go into settings and choose Face ID option it will say "Face ID is not available, trying setting up Face ID later". However every time I restart my phone it will be back to normal again, until I failed to attempt to unlock my phone with Face ID. My iOS version is 14.7.1, and I always update to the latest version but it still happens. Has anyone experienced the same issue? Is there anyway to fix this? It works again every time I restart my phone so I reckon it should be a software problem rather than a hardware problem. Cheers guys [link] [comments] |
